Palia Las Palomas

When we arrived about 115pm at reception we were greeted by David who was very pleasant we was told we could check in at around 230pm so we put our luggage in the luggage room and went for some lunch and a wonder round. When we got our room key we was on the 5th floor room 535 a side view of the pools and the sea but we did notice each morning about 8am the children playing basketball shouting and screaming at the school right opposite room was very spacious TV only has 1 channel (19) you have to go into language settings and change the language we took a cable to connect our phone so we could watch Netflix and listen to music comes with a kettle free WiFi hairdryer and a safe that is payable shower was lovely and hot and powerful did a get a smell of sewage every now and then and the balcony doors don’t lock The hotel is situated on top of a hill there is a shop right opposite quite expensive so walk down a bit and there is a supermarket that is really cheap the strip itself is good we walked all the way to the end (The Ferris Wheel) we also walked past that and went up on a ledge to a small lighthouse and walked along pass the marina you can get pool towels from reception €10 each but you get this back at the end of your stay the hotel does have 2 large pools and a kids pool that has 2 water slides but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for families as nothing to do and it attracts the older generation can always get a sun bed anytime of day has a pool bar that serves local drinks only do 4 cocktails that come out of a pump the same with wine you have to pay for branded alcoholic drinks but local are in with the all inclusive san Miguel on tap to help yourself in the main restaurant snack bar at the bar is hit and miss overcooked chips pancakes are tasteless and food is left out for a few hours with ants and flies restaurant food is very repetitive every lunch and evening breakfast is probably the best meal of the day though the toaster takes about 6-7 mins to cook take empty bottles down and fill with fresh water for the beach or for the room. They have a desk in reception with folders for trips but these are all in French German Spanish and maybe Dutch and not much to do we found it very boring. Evening entertainment was like being in a retirement home as it’s inside not sure why as weather so nice stayed half hour and had enough was not that great as all in Spanish and French so hard to understand also the toilets inside the hotel grounds were awful No private beach but a public beach called Playa de la Carihuela the beach was lovely we bought a parasol from one of the shops along the strip paid around €13 it lasted us the week or you can hire a sun bed each day for €8 each lots of street sellers in the evenings selling fake goods bags trainers and football shirts Watersports not far on the beach but was closed as out of season even though beach was packed if you want late check out its €50 until 6pm if not then they can offer somewhere to get changed and have a cold shower I would definitely not return to this hotel which is a shame because the pool and the weather was lovely just a shame everything else lets it down

Lovely hotel in a great location. Just five minute walk to the beach, shops and restaurants but 20 min walk away from the busier centre of Torremolinos. Hotel is spotlessly clean, staff friendly and helpful. Room cleaned every day to a high standard. Food was ok, usually warm instead of hot. Not much choice for vegetarians and more labelling would be been appreciated but what we expect from an all inclusive buffet. Food was cooked very well and salads very tasty, tho a lot were finished with meat/fush meaning unsuitable for us.

The hotel is generally nice, and the rooms pretty good quality. If you’re lucky enough to get a balcony pool side of the hotel it’s great, but half the hotel rooms face a busy road and are noisy.

The hotel is in a good location to walk to the beach (around 15 mins), but if you’re looking for a quiet get away this isn’t for you. The hotel has a very busy school next door and the sound of children(as lovely as it is) is very noisy as there is lots of shouting and squealing all day long)

The hotel is very very geared towards French and German guests and the activities are mainly in french. (No problem if you grasp a bit of French but something to be aware of)

Food and drinks - where do I start ….. drinks are ok ….. the spirits are local spirits and not nearly the same as branded ones, and the mixers ie coke, orange juice etc are hit and miss and often taste horrible.

The food is repetitive, pretty much the same at lunch time and night time and not very nice, everything is just warm or room temperature which always concerns me after a bout of tummy troubles on a holiday especially as there’s rice sat there all the time.

If you have a fussy eater, you’d struggle.

Weather is great, plenty of sunbeds and reserving with towels is managed by chucking them off if no one’s been for an hour …..

Would I come back - yes, but I wouldn’t go all inclusive, it’s not a patch on other all inclusives we’ve been to …….

Staff work incredibly hard and should be rewarded x
