Fantastic
We have just come back after an amazing week at Riu Hotel Palace Nautilus… we have visited Torremolinos several times and stayed in several hotels, but we just love this one… the easy access to the beach, and the shops & restaurants along the parade…. the food is amazing with so much choice, the staff are amazing the ladies who clean your room just love their job, nothing is to much trouble,.. plenty of sunbeds are around the pool if you want a pool holiday.. a lovely welcome on arrival..the rooms are spacious and very comfortable, we had ground floor side room with a bit of a sea view, the grounds are immaculate and well cared for..the sun comes around and it’s very pleasant to sit out ..easy access to catch the bus , taxis always available….we are looking to visit other Riu hotels in other countries as this one left a very good impression on us…. Great Hotel, not so good Reception Staff
Having booked a Standard Room online, I emailed ahead and asked for an upgrade to a high floor, overlooking the pool/beach, which we were willing to pay for. We are Gold Members of the Riu Class System and have visited numerous Riu Hotels over the past 15 years, all with good experiences, we have even asked for room numbers on returning to hotels and got them. When we checked in, we were given a ground floor room at the back of the hotel which was dark and no view, before we even looked at the room, I told reception that it was not acceptable. However, we were told that we would have to accept this room until a room on a higher floor became available which was 2 days later. We were given a 3rd floor side view room, which was better as it was a sunny room, but as we were willing to pay for an even better room, one would assume that reception would have found us one, but this would have been a double upgrade and was told by reception that this was not acceptable by Riu.
The hotel was very good and the food was also good with loads of choices of fish, meats, salads and deserts and we couldn't fault this area. Tables on the outside veranda were sometimes full, but there was never a long wait and the waiters and waitresses did their best to accommodate you quickly. Rooms were also kept clean and tidy to the highest standard.
Unfortunately because of the attitude of the reception staff, i doubt whether i will return to this hotel, even though it is of good standard and in a lovely position in Torremolinos. We also spoke to a few other couples who also felt that they had not been given the room they wanted & had to wait a few days to be moved, it seemed to be a re-occuring problem with many guests !!

Could be better
This was our first time at this hotel. We've stayed at the Riu Palace Melonares before and have to say the Nautilus is a little inferior. Very cramped pool area and staff are pushed to their limits. It just doesn't have the 'special' factor in terms of service but the staff are trying their best. Food is decent as are the rooms. Would only use again if on a decent deal.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ More “okay” than “Palace”
The Riu Palace Nautilus is a beautiful hotel, but unfortunately our overall experience did not quite live up to what we expected from the RIU Palace name.
A special mention goes to the cleaning staff, who work extremely hard throughout the day despite the high number of guests. The food is fresh and generally of good quality, but many dishes were surprisingly bland and lacking in seasoning.
The pool area was disappointing: sunbeds are packed very close together and the whole area often felt overcrowded rather than relaxing.
Our main issue was the inconsistency in service. Most staff members were pleasant and professional, but a few interactions left a very different impression. We were not offered a welcome drink or luggage service on arrival, while we repeatedly saw other guests receiving both.
We also fully respect the dinner dress code. However, when my husband’s sleeveless shirt was considered inappropriate, a staff member physically grabbed his shirt and simply said, “Not like this.” Changing his shirt was never the issue — the way the situation was handled was.
Communication outside reception was also difficult at times due to surprisingly limited English.
There is a lot to like about this hotel, but warmer and more consistent service would make a significant difference.
Overall, not a bad stay — but for us, it felt more “okay” than “Palace”. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another Lovely Stay
Another lovely stay at the Nautilus, 2nd time this year, food great, staff are lovely and work so hard. The cleaning staff are always about too. Looking forward to going back next year. Only small niggle is the courtesy shower rooms, it would be better if you could book a slot, rather than having to just queue out in the heat, also I had to go hunting for towels as there were none there which I was told there would be, its nothing major you just feel under pressure when people are waiting. But like I say all staff are great and helpful and the location is perfect for sightseeing and walking.
