When we first arrived, we couldn’t fault the hotel. Our flight was earlier than expected and they were able to let us check into 1 of the 3 rooms early so that we could drop our bags off and begin using the facilities. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy, food is average but there was plenty of choice. When it came to our final day, we needed to check out of our room at 12pm, our flight was not until 8.30pm. When we checked out the lady on reception informed us that we could leave our bags in the luggage room and still continue to use all the facilities in the hotel until our transfer at 6pm. At 1pm when the restaurant opened for lunch service we proceeded as a group to enter the restaurant, half of our party was allowed to enter as usual, the other half were then told we could not enter unless we paid because we had checked out and were advised to speak with reception. When we went and spoke again to reception we were told that because we had checked in early on the first day our all inclusive ended after breakfast service on the last day and would now need to pay for any of the restaurants. The bar however we were still able to use with our all inclusive wristbands. So you are still able to drink for free all day but can’t eat before your flight unless you want to pay extra for it, makes perfect sense that. When you book and pay for an all inclusive package holiday with flights, transfers and hotel included you would expect for all of that to be included for the duration of your holiday. There were many many other people that were in the same position as we were. There was never once an apology from a single member of staff that we spoke to, just simply a “no, not possible unless you pay.” Incredibly disappointed and disgusted with how this has ended our holiday and 100% would not recommend or return.

Our holiday was ruined by bedbugs and a terrifying 3am hospital trip ⭐ 1 star Our experience at Hotel Sol Príncipe was extremely distressing and completely ruined our holiday. We discovered bedbugs in our first room and reported it to the hotel. We were moved to another room, only to discover bedbugs there too. We were left extremely worried about our belongings and the possibility of taking them home with us. Things then became much worse. My legs became severely swollen, and my health deteriorated. The day before I ended up in hospital, I spoke to a lady about our complaint. I found her extremely rude, dismissive and lacking in empathy. I felt like I was being fobbed off and that she simply didn't care about what we were experiencing. At approximately 3am, I became so unwell that I had to be wheeled out of the hotel and taken to hospital. This was a frightening experience that I never expected to face on holiday. The following day, after returning from hospital, the manager spoke to me and offered us an upgraded room, which we eventually accepted because Loveholidays had been unable to successfully find us another hotel. Our holiday was completely ruined. We only managed one day at the pool, I couldn't wear shorts because of the condition and swelling of my legs, and we barely got to go out and enjoy our holiday. We paid for a holiday, not to deal with bedbugs in two rooms, severe health problems, a hospital visit at 3am and feeling dismissed when we complained. This was an extremely upsetting experience and one we will never forget. I would not return to Hotel Sol Príncipe and sincerely hope the hotel takes what happened seriously and properly investigates it.

Hotel is very big and very close to the beach, rooms are kept clean and sheets and towels were always clean. Staff were relatively polite and friendly and the food and service were good.

This review is poor as over €30 went missing from the pockets of my shorts that were left in the room while I was out and I have serious reason to believe that a cleaner has taken the money. I’d completely avoid this hotel or at the very least make sure to take any expensive belongings out with you as it is just unacceptable.
