Not a good experience.
As for the location it was shockingly baron, there was nothing around other than a few small bars/restaurants! That tried thier best to entertain. We did go into a small bar around the corner but it was exactly that-Small. The nearest Town was Castilo, you had 3 options for getting there, taxi (€7), walk across baron land full of dog mess/ discarded litter,rubbish (20/30 mins) or down to the *Coastal * path (45/50 mins).The town its self is tiny but had shops/bars/ other outlets!.
HOTEL. First the check is was smooth but the information given as to locating your room was quite difficult to navigate ( if you are not in the main building) You were given a cup token! It was to exchange for a Cup that contained your drink, when finished with, you either keep the cup and use it the next time ( the bar staff swap the cup) or if you are done for the day,night, you exchange it for a token. No token/cup, no drink!
We discovered during our stay that we were fortunate to have been checked into a newer room that seemed to be no more than 5 years old ( or were revamped earlier) these had aircon, But the main building hadn't and the hotel was charging an extortionate amount of money to rent a fan, from memory it was around €45 for a week ( we knew of guests who actually went into town and bought one cheaper!)
Also the safely deposit box (safe) was chargeable, again I think it was €11per day/€45 for the week with a €10 deposit.
At check-in we were advised that there is no room clean on Wednesday and Sundays.
POOL AREA. Difficult for me to give personal experience as I didn't venture into the water ( just sat on a lounger on the 1 day during the guests cross over /check out,in,and observed!) We chatted with a few people and they said that the pool was sub zero and was deep the whole length, with no gradient.
The first thing that got my attention was the amount of broken paving tiles around, some areas had a cluster of 7/10 tiles all *shattered, defo was not a place to walk bare foot in my opinion.
POOLBAR/MAIN BAR.
Firstly I need to say that the staff were very pleasant but over run, if the staff member had to go do something else like change a barrel/ restock on something, the bar service ceased until it was sorted! THE MAIN bar stops all inclusive at 11pm prompt, so if you are in a queue and the clock strikes 11pm before you get served, boom you now pay! DONT forget to cash your plastic cup in for the token at this point because you are now served with glass (chargeable drinks). And God help you if you dont have a cup token the next day!.
FOOD. Again i will say the staff were out of thier depth, to much to do! Very repetitive and bland, you were also expected to clear your table when you were finished, I will leave it here!.
Entertainment. In my opinion the guy did his best but it was sparse/and not really well advertised to what was happening! Well done for trying though.
So to cap it off, no we didn't enjoy our stay here, we cut it short by 2 days ( yes we paid a heavy price to escape) But the surprising thing was, when checking out the staff didn't even acknowledge or ask why we were leaving early, I THINK that sums up what they are used to!
Book this place if you like nothing more than to sit/lounge around the pool ( oh like most places now you need to be standing guard at your preferred sun lounger at 6am, although the area was on lock down until 10am) just saying.
WOULD I GO BACK?
Not even if the hotel paid for 1st class flights/transfers/personal Michelin chef/£1000 spending money for out side entertainment as there's nothing appealing at the hotel it's self.
This was my personal experience and I hope it helps you with any queries you may have.
Cheap and cheerful
Here is a cheap and cheerful hotel There are a few negatives with this hotel The main rooms seem to have no air-conditioning,but you can hire a fan for €32 There is a safety deposit box but you need a key which you can get from reception for €41 with a deposit of €10 The pool bar isnt open at the pool side but you can get drinks round the front of it. Pluses are rooms are quite big obviously a bedroom.It's under living room area where there's a sofa, which looks like it's a pullout bed under t v. They have team coffee facilities, but you have to supply your own train, coffee and milk.. The balcony is quite spacious, with two plastic chairs in the plastic table and there is a facility for drying things outside. There is a wide choice of food in the restaurant while it's not corden blue , it's okay, and will cater for kids. There seems to be enough sun lounges, even on the most packed days. This is hospice, but while he does say you're not supposed to put your towels down the four ten o'clock.People don't seem to take any notice of that . The next town Castillo caleta de fuste is worth a visit with lots of bars and shops to visit. He can walk there if you know the right paths to go down where it can take you about half an hour, but if you go by taxi tasks, it will cost you between 7 and 8 Euros. Yes, I will give this a six out of ten.It's not awful, but you get what you pay for.
Pleasantly surprised
Having booked this without doing too much research, we are a little panicked about the reviews and the location. Quick and easy transfer from airport. Arrived and checked in with ease. Hotel is 3* and that’s a fair reflection. The rooms are comfortable, modern bathroom and generally not bad. No air conditioning is an issue as it gets hot. That said, as night it’s fairly peaceful so you can have balcony and bedroom window open. The food is not bad, out of four days, the food was overall pretty good. Not a massive selection like like some hotels, but plenty of choice. Mexican and seafood nights were the best. The saltwater pool was lovely and lots of sun beds with umbrellas. The AI drinks were okay. We did say we would eat out if the food is that bad and never needed do do that. Overall it was good for the £ paid and not as bad a we expected at all.
Great hotel, good value for money
Just returned from a 2 weeks holiday here. We found it excellent value for money. The rooms are very spacious and clean, lovely shower and very comfortable beds, fantastic sized swimming pool which was cold but refreshing, lovely food and good drinks. This is a 2 star plus and people need to remember that as the reviews are very unfair. Staff work so hard and are very friendly. Bad behaviour is dealt with quickly and not tolerated so it felt safe. The token/cup return system worked very well at ensuring there was no litter around and the pool area was very clean. As a vegetarian I found something to eat everyday, the salads were particularly good. We had a very enjoyable time!

Great but always room for improvement
Remember this is a 3* if you are expecting higher then of course you will be disappointed. Mine and my friends rooms were clean and tidy. No they did not have air-conditioning which I found odd as everywhere else I have stayed has it as standard, even in a 3*. So make sure you check. This was not clear when we booked with a travel company. Some more expensive rooms have it and others don't. I love the heat so it did not bother me but my friend had to pay extra for a fan. The walk in shower was powerful enough for my long thick hair to wash shampoo out. I walked out of my room straight to the pool. Loved the pool, lots of easy access points to step, slowly in and we never had an issue getting a sun bed or umbrella. I waited no more than 6 minutes for a drink at the bar and there is a shop on site. The food was great for a very small venue, they only have the one buffet restaurant. They had a variety of salad, veg and breads daily. They had fish, prawns, muscles, pork, chicken, duck, veal, beef etc. They had pastas, rice and for the junk food people they had chips, hot dogs and burgers daily. They had a variety of croissants, cheese and cold meats, cereals. Fruit, a full fry up for breakfast. Puddings of jelly, cakes, ice cream, fruit, rice pudding. They had pizza night , Chinese night, a chocolate fountain with Profiteroles and large sweet cola bottles. If you only feed your children chicken nuggets then this is not the hotel for you, holiday in McDonald's instead. That is a parenting issue and not the fault of the establishment. If you eat a well balanced diet with the odd treat as you should then the food is great. The food was regularly replaced as it ran out and it was always hot. You can help yourself to beer/wine/fizzy drinks/juice/Water and hot drinks at the buffet restaurant. We filled our allocated plastic cups before leaving the restaurant each time. The entertainment guy was great. He worked really hard- water polo, he put a large matt over the water for people to run over which was amusing as a spectator. They have 2 tennis courts, they done table tennis, darts, we took part in a music quiz night and Karaoke. There is the beach- we walked but got a taxi back as was further than we thought. Beach was nice but like imported sawdust sand. This was surrounded by restaurants. There is a market on Saturdays and i believe other days too-in town (taxi was about £2.80) and the reception just pressed a button for the taxi to arrive which was very fast. People have complained about the noise of aeroplanes, I never saw/heard a single one. The transfer was only about 9 minutes which was great! We were the first drop off and the last pick up. Overall for a 3* hotel I thought this was great! If you are looking for luxury, adventures and lots of physical activities nearby then no this is not for you. If you are looking for fun with who you are with and a nice 3* hotel to enjoy, then this is for you. Add air-conditioning to every room as standard and add a bottle of water daily to each room (fridge and TV worked) and I think this would be a great budget holiday. There is always small things such as the above that hotels could add to make it a more comfortable stay to encourage people to return. Management please acknowledge the above, most of the complaints i heard from guests while at your premises was lack of air-conditioning, lack of bottled water supplied as standard and the bars could do with 1 extra staff member. I would happily return, but the above would enable me to recommend to friends and family.
