The animation team is 5 star!
The kids club is perfect and my daughter loved all the people who ran it!
The evening shows the team put on were a highlight of the trip, the lion king and Hollywood shows were amazing!
The pools and sunbeds could have been better quality. The rooms were good quality but the sofa bed my daughter used was very firm. The quality of the food was great and the bar staff were really good!
We’ve just returned from a lovely family holiday at Hotel Elba Carlota, and overall we had a very enjoyable stay. There is a lot to like about this hotel, particularly the wonderful staff, fantastic entertainment, beautiful beachfront location and excellent choice of facilities. However, the hotel is also showing its age in quite a few places and would really benefit from some investment and maintenance.
The highlights Without a doubt, the staff are one of the hotel's biggest assets. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful and hardworking. A special mention has to go to the entertainment team — Gonçalo, Dan, Pierre, Enzo, Margot and Georgia. They were absolutely fantastic! There was always something happening, whether it was dancing, games, daytime activities, evening entertainment or the mini club. They put so much energy and enthusiasm into everything and really helped make the holiday enjoyable for the whole family. The swimming pools were very good, and we were particularly grateful for the heated pool. It was a real bonus and definitely got plenty of use during our stay. The beachfront location is amazing. Being able to walk straight from the hotel to the beach is a huge advantage and makes the setting feel very special. We also really enjoyed the variety of themed restaurants and cuisines. There was international, Asian, Arabian, Canarian, Spanish and Mexican food, giving us plenty of choice and something different to look forward to. The restaurant staff work incredibly hard and were always friendly. A special thank you to Maria, Aaron and the paella chef — they were all lovely. Our suite was beautiful, very clean and spacious, and the sea view was absolutely amazing! Waking up to that view was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. We also happened to celebrate both my birthday and my husband's birthday while we were there. On both occasions we were surprised with a bottle of champagne and some sweeties. Such a lovely and thoughtful gesture, and very much appreciated! Another thing worth mentioning is the departure arrangements. Although late check-out wasn't available, we were able to continue using the hotel facilities until it was time for us to leave. We were also given a slot in a courtesy room where we could shower and change before our journey home. This was much, much appreciated, particularly when travelling with children. It made the last few hours of our holiday much more comfortable. I also noticed that management seemed to be visible around the hotel regularly, which I think is a positive. It gave the impression that they were present, approachable and keeping an eye on what was happening.
Areas that need improvement The biggest issue for me is that the hotel is quite dated and needs some TLC. There were visible cracks along walls and ceilings and several areas where maintenance is clearly overdue. Around the pool there were cracked and/or missing tiles, and one of the swimming pool steps was broken and remained unrepaired throughout our stay. Our bathroom also had a slow-draining shower/drain, which was inconvenient. The game room is a great idea and was very entertaining for us, but some of the games weren't working properly. More importantly, there were some plug sockets around the game room that appeared unsafe, which really should be looked at as a priority. The Wi-Fi was also quite slow, which was frustrating at times. The buffet was probably the weakest part of the food offering. We appreciated the variety and different themed nights, but there were occasions where food appeared to be incorrectly labelled. This could potentially be quite serious for anyone with food allergies or dietary requirements. The dessert selection was also disappointing, both in terms of variety and quality. The reception staff were friendly — Javi and James were both lovely — but I felt that there was a lack of information provided during check-in. At check-out, we were also not really asked how our stay had been or whether there was anything we wanted to comment on. I think this would be a valuable opportunity for the hotel to get direct feedback from guests.
Overall Despite the issues mentioned above, we genuinely had a lovely holiday at Hotel Elba Carlota. The location is fantastic, the pools are great, the entertainment team are brilliant, there is a good variety of restaurants and activities, and the staff really do work hard to make guests feel welcome. For us, the hotel has so much potential. With some significant investment in the building, maintenance and a few improvements to the food offering, it could be an absolutely fantastic resort. A huge thank you to all the staff who contributed to our holiday, especially Gonçalo, Dan, Pierre, Enzo, Margot, Georgia, Maria, Aaron, Elisa and the paella chef. You all helped make our stay memorable. We would happily return!!
We have recently returned from 13 nights stay at the Elba Carlota. This time we stayed in a family room (543/544) which had one bathroom with a Bath & overhead shower and the other bathroom had a walk in shower, which worked well as we had our two Grandsons with us. Fabulous view as on fifth floor with both pool & sea view. Superb hotel grounds, and super clean swimming pools. Animation teams offer a mini childrens club, childrens club and now a teenagers club during the day, so something for everyone. The evening entertainment is good BUT the Wednesday evening entertainment was awful. That day we were up at 1.30AM to catch our flight from London Stansted so in the evening all we wanted was an early night... well at 9pm all we heard was DRUMS!! Drums, drums and still the noise went on. We eventually drifted off but the following wednesday, the same drums came back to haunt us again. Great Bar service provided by Williams & Manuel and by Lena & other staff members in the Restaurant. Reception - excellent team who really do go the extra mile, we had a problem with our hire car, and one of the Reception Team sorted out the issue within 5 minutes. Food - Breakfast, absolutely amazing, so much choice. Snack Bar, choices / selections can get repetitive but the pastries & Chocolate cake are fantastic. Evening Buffet - great with different themed menus. The Italian Restaurant - again great menu with something for everybody. Drinks & Cocktails - Not all drinks available with the All Inclusive package, so best to ask to avoid disappointment. The Cocktail list on the All Inclusive package is limited, the Pina Colada is excellent but sadly 'Old Fashioned' is not on the AI list. But the only request we would make is when we return May/June 2027..... no drums please!
We had a wonderful 10 days. We had a junior suite with a huge balcony and views we didn’t want to leave. The hotel upgraded my Mum which I was incredibly grateful for to be closer to us. The suite comfortably accommodated the 4 of us. Loved the mattresses! The food was varied and not at all cold, as some previous reviews had mentioned?. We thoroughly enjoyed. A couple of evenings the restaurant felt overwhelmed. The staff were so friendly and worked hard. But like others have stated, more staff were needed. Attention to detail with keeping floors clear of dropped food for example. It didn’t affect us, we worked with it, but could understand frustrations of others. The animation team worked so hard and lovely to see all nations coming together with pool games. Certainly no favouritism to specific guests. The evening entertainment was average, but not really our thing anyway. Hotel grounds are lovely and well maintained. So relaxing and the gate out to the beach and the wonderful promenade walks made our holiday. It was great having the commercial centre next door. Loved the shops. The area felt totally chilled and safe. We loved our 10 days and so glad we weren’t put off from other reviews. We would return in the future.
Along with my family, I have stayed in this hotel for a week. Here is everything needed to know before staying in this hotel:
POSITIVES: -THE STAFF: exceptional. So friendly, generous, always smiling, will help you with any problem and really does everything to make guests feel welcome in the hotel. Everyone from the cleaniny ladies to receptionists was so polite and nice. I would like to especially thank Elisa (hopefully spelt it right) from the kitchen for providing tips on what food to try:) -POOL AND BEACH: the hotel offers 2 pools, 1 jacuzzi, 1 kids pool and a beautiful promenade along the sandy beach with pier over the ocean where you can watch crabs. For those looking for it, there is also a nude section at one side. -LOCATION: right next to the city of Caleta de Fuste. Everything is in close proximity - medical center, Atlantico shopping center (like 200 meters from the hotel), another hotels, souvenir shops, nice walks, airport (around 10 minutes drive)... -DRINKS AND BEVERAGES: fresh juices right from the squeezed fruits, great coffee, hot chocolate and a pleasant variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. -EQUIPMENT: hotel shop, gym, very fast elevators, luggage room, pool bar with snacks... -ENTERTAINMENT: lots of options both on and off the shore (like aquagym, water polo, gymnastics...). Also, the hotel has its own cat named Miguel and for sure, he is a great attraction ;)
SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE: -FOOD: the kitchen offers AMAZING breakfast, in fact, I do not think there is anything needed to improve there. It also offers theme dinners nearly every evening. However, it sometimes lacked variety of options (there are usually about 10 different dishes) and if you do not like some kind of cuisine, there is a possibility you won't find anything during certain course. -CLEANING SERVICES: the cleaning ladies were super nice, but sometimes, they forgot to chance towels or put things to some places of questionable choice (like putting flip-flops on a luggage or pillow on a table) -ROOMS: comfortable beds, pleasant balcony, alright bathroom, room itself is okay, TV with maybe 10 properly working programs is not a huge problem itself, but there are definitely some renovations necessary (certain pieces of furniture or shower mechanism). -A LOTS OF AIRPLANES: for us, it was extraordinary, we enjoy the presence of planes and it was a nice addition to the stay, but for some people, it may be limiting, that is why I'm mentioning it here.
NEGATIVES: -MISSING A/C EVERYWHERE EXCEPT OF ROOM: only place in the hotel where you can find working air conditioning is your room. Its not that big of a problem when you do not need to spend a time outside of your room, but if you need to wait for a few hours after check out for your flight and there is not a single one working in hotels spaces, it may be really uncomfortable. I really appreciated the receptionists, who offered us a courtesy room for half an hour to wait in, but inside of it, it was even hotter, more humid and the A/C was not working there as well. -WI-FI: the signal here is nearly non-existent. There is a free connection throughout entire hotel, but it was working properly for about 2 hours during the whole week. Strongly suggesting obtaining mobile data beforehands. -BEACH TOWELS: once you get the beach and pool towels, it is immensely hard to change them, as that is the job of the pool guard that is there for maybe an hour a day. Also, it is really hard to find sunbeds, as all are usually occupied at around 9 am already
Overall, the stay was very pleasant. The hotel has things that need improvement, but it is definitely a solid alternative for a place to stay on the island. Of course, it also matters for what price it is offered and what do you want to see and do on the island, but if you are searching for a place to rest witht the close proximity to shopping and nice walks, this is a very good contender.
I would like to wish everyone at the hotel all the best and thank you for the stay, created a lot of memories here :)
