Elba Castillo San Jorge and Antigua

Reception 4/5 Very friendly on arrival and helpful throughout our stay and very efficient to react when we needed them in an emergency. A burst pipe under the sink caused the room to flood. Everyone from reception, maintenance and housekeeping worked together quickly. All was cleaned and repaired within an hour. There is one minor negative regarding hotel pool towels. We pay deposit for towels and an offer of clean ones at cost. Twice I went to try change them with non available so I ended up washing them myself at the onsite laundry. They did however give me the promised late checkout of 2pm but if you ask too late you could miss out.

Rooms 4/5 I've had to give a low score with the rooms being in need of an update and a lack of drawer space for your clothes. One picky issue was the safe being situated on the floor of the wardrobe. I had to sit on the floor to open it. Could be a struggle for anyone with mobility issues. However, on a more positive note, we couldn't have asked for a better located room and the size was incredible. It was clean and the bathroom had a really powerful shower with lots of hot water. The bedroom was large with two very large comfortable single beds. The rooms lack aircon (something I was aware of when booking). This was an error on my part. We used two small bedside table fans and left the balcony door and bedroom window open which really helped. The outdoor balcony for our Seaview apartment was enormous with the most amazing sea view. The sunrise most days of our say were spectacular.

Restaurant 4/5 The negatives in this area of the hotel are once again the need of some TLC and attention to detail. The furniture is tired and a bit grubby. People have described the food as mushy. This is not what I experienced and I'm quite fussy. There was lots of variety with something to suit all tastes and both breakfast and dinner and their homemade soups are delicious. They offer lunches, and l would question on whether this a necessity. There IS a snack bar meaning Lunch could be removed. This would allow funds to improve the decor, furniture and give a more improved evening dinner environment and cut the staff workload.

Pool and Bar 4/5 Very efficient bar with staff who work non stop trying to keep up with a never ending queue of thirsty guests who appear to want to make thr most of the all inclusive deal all day. This was eased a little for them with a soft drink machine and coffee machine on hand. Both pools look very clean. I didnt use them so can't comment on the temperature. There were plenty of available sunbeds especially around the quiet pool and surrounding areas. Many people preferred the louder pool with the entertainment and music. These beds were quickly taken. We found a nice quiet spot below our apartment. However, some areas can be quite untidy. Something that could be easily rectified if people used the bins and didnt throw cigarette butts.

Housekeeping 5/5 A team of extremely hardworking ladies who clean your room daily, make your beds and change the towels regularly. Always smiling and offering a good morning.

Overall 4/5 I really enjoyed my 10 days at this hotel but it came at a cost. We upgraded our room to an apartment, then an upgrade to a sea view. The team here work extremely hard to ensure you have a good stay. Regular visitors are welcomed with open arms. Unfortunately, because of the lack of aircon we are unlikely to return, but I do recommend it for anyone wanting a good hotel offering family entertainment or a low budget all inclusive holiday. I've included some apartment photos taken on the last day whilst packing so excuse any clutter.

I have been to this hotel 4 times, I've always found staying here a pleasure, all of the staff area very welcoming, rooms are clean, beds made and changed regularly, food is very nice, can be abit repetitive but you can always find something to eat, that's what all inclusive is about, I've not ever gone hungry, the hotel as a whole is lovely, great entertainment, great location, beautiful friendly people what more can you ask for on an all inclusive holiday

The hotel was spotless. From arriving to leaving the staff were amazing. Everything was on site if needed ,and the location is spot on for all the shops ,restaurants and bars. I have booked to go back in November on the strength of the experience I had at this lovely hotel.
