Eurostars Las Salinas

This hotel is in the perfect location the staff are friendly and the rooms are nice , that’s the positives ! All inclusive drinks are dreadful if you can actually get one , lobby bar and pool bar often not maned and your stood around waiting to be served , pool bar is only bar open during the day so if you are at the beach it’s mission to just go get a drink ! Entertainment in the evening is absolutely dreadful so we went out most nights . Food is ok never very warm but they do provide a microwave so you can warm your food up lol ! Not sure if this is just the time of year but cockroaches are everywhere so keep your suitcases shut . Air con is useless I thought maybe it was just ours but speaking to other guests it seems it’s same in all the rooms . I don’t usually write bad reviews, it’s such a shame as it’s such a perfect location but definitely needs a lot of improvement. The restaurant just outside the hotel is lovely food and drink excellent and the guy who runs it is great definitely worth a visit .

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-star experience – don’t be put off by the reviews!

We ended up staying at the Eurostars Las Salinas after a last-minute change to our holiday by Jet2. I have to admit, I was really concerned after reading some of the reviews, but honestly, please don’t worry! We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend both the hotel and the resort.

Our Junior Suite was clean, spacious and really comfortable, and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean. The staff were lovely — always polite, friendly and helpful.

The restaurant was another highlight. There was a huge choice of food, with something different every night and plenty of hot food. The themed nights were great — the Chinese night in particular was amazing! And if you’re less adventurous, there are always the usual favourites such as chips, so there really is something for everyone.

There are three lovely saltwater pools, all spotlessly clean. The only thing I would say is that some of the sunbeds and parasols could do with being replaced, but there were plenty of beds available throughout our stay. Most people weren’t reserving beds with towels, although there were a few who did.

The atmosphere is quiet, chilled and relaxing, which was perfect for us. There were very few children while we were there, apart from a few babies, as there isn’t a huge amount specifically for children — for us, this was absolute bliss!

The hotel is only around 15 minutes from the airport. You do get the occasional plane flying over, but honestly, it didn’t bother us at all. Fuerteventura airport is relatively small and there isn’t a constant stream of flights.

The resort itself is lovely and peaceful, with a nice town and a market twice a week. Definitely go to Piero’s Music Bar — great atmosphere and lots of fun.

Also, make sure you head down to the harbour and do the catamaran trip. We paid around £50 each for four hours, including drinks and food, and it was brilliant.

This definitely wasn’t where we were supposed to be staying, and initially I was disappointed about the change. But having now experienced it, I honestly think we ended up with the better option!

We had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend the Eurostars Las Salinas and Caleta de Fuste. 🌴☀️🍹

Overall, I probably wouldn’t return to this hotel at the moment, mainly because of the food and the number of cockroaches we encountered. I’m not sure whether the cockroach issue is specific to the hotel or is something that affects the island generally. If these two things were improved, I would 100% consider coming back. If we did return, I would probably choose B&B or half board rather than all-inclusive, as there are plenty of lovely places to eat nearby. I also wouldn’t say this hotel is particularly suitable for children. There isn’t a huge amount of entertainment, the food choices for children are quite limited, and there seemed to be a lot of older couples staying. It didn’t feel particularly family-orientated. But was a nice quite hotel. Room – 396 There were three adults staying: Mum and two adult children. Check-in was really easy and straightforward. We had booked a junior suite for three people and expected a double room with a sofa bed. Instead, we were pleasantly surprised to be given a two-bedroom apartment with a huge terrace, including a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. This was a lovely surprise and much bigger than we expected! There were a couple of small issues when we arrived — one of the three TVs and a lamp weren’t working — but both were repaired/replaced within the hour, which was great. The beds were quite hard, which isn’t our personal preference, but we all slept okay. Cleaning The cleaners were fantastic. They never knocked if there was a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, and the room was spotless whenever they came in. Our sheets were changed on day four & 6 The whole hotel appeared clean and well maintained. Cockroaches 🪳 Unfortunately, this was the biggest negative for us. We didn’t see many during the day, but after around 8pm they became much more noticeable. The hotel staff do have spray available for them. We saw four cockroaches inside our room during the week, despite being on the third floor. There were also quite a lot around the pool and entertainment areas in the evenings. This was definitely one of the main reasons I wouldn’t currently return. Cats 🐈 There are three lovely, very friendly wild cats around the pool area. They are incredibly chilled and people-friendly and appeared to be well looked after and in good condition. We really enjoyed seeing them around the hotel! Food 🍴 The food was probably our biggest disappointment. We'd read the bad reviews and thought all other holidays get bad reviews on food and we found them to be fine - but this time we should have listened to them!!! It was a fairly standard buffet, with a lot of cheaper cuts of meat. There seemed to be a lot of tuna, veal and cheaper cuts of turkey / white fish. There was always salad, bread, pizza and chips available, but quite a lot of the food was bland. We ended up eating out four times during the week just to have something different. There was also quite a bit of “mystery food”, where it wasn’t immediately obvious what you were eating. Better labelling would definitely help. A sign saying “Party Mix” on a dish of meat and sauce isn’t exactly helpful! 😂 all fish dishes appeared to have bones still in. The desserts were very basic and, unfortunately, were often tasteless and mushy. Breakfast A standard continental breakfast. It is advertised as being available until 10:30am, but 10:30am is actually when you need to be out of the restaurant, as staff will ask you to leave. That said, breakfast was definitely the best meal of the day! Lunch Mostly hot food — there weren’t really any sandwiches 'lunchy' things available - Dinner We ate out four times during the week just to have something different. Dinner was generally very similar to lunch. If we returned, we would definitely choose half board rather than all-inclusive. Staff The staff were all really lovely, friendly and helpful. We had absolutely no complaints about the service from the staff themselves. At mealtimes, you simply find yourself a table rather than being greeted or shown to one, which was fine. Entertainment 🎤 Entertainment finishes around 10:30–11pm, so if you want music or entertainment after that, you need to head into town. The bar closes at 11:30pm. We heard that this is the first year the hotel has had entertainment, and the two guys running it are doing their best with what they have been given. You can tell they are putting the effort in, but the entertainment offering could definitely be improved. Evenings need some ambiant music in background around bar areas not just the guy shouting into the mic singing along to the music - couple of live musicians where ok! Beach 🏖️ The beach is lovely. There is an accessible area further down the beach, around a five-minute walk away. Two sunbeds for the whole day were €10.50, payable by cash or card. Pool 🏊 We spent most of our time by the main pool near the bar. There were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and, thankfully, none of the usual towel-hogging behaviour! There always seemed to be somewhere to sit. Pool Bar & Food 🍹 Drinks are self-service, which was easy enough. The snacks were very basic. They were advertised as being available from 10:30am, but they were usually not ready until around 11:30am–12pm. The sandwiches were very basic and quite dry. Hot food starts around 1:30pm. If you want it fresh, I’d recommend getting it early. 1 staff member on at a time and he had SO much to do, he really needed a hand Ambience The restaurant, drinks areas and pool area could really benefit from having some background music. I think this would make a world of difference to the atmosphere. That said, everyone was very friendly. We met so many lovely families during the week who we chatted to and had evening drinks with. Final Thoughts There are definitely positives to this hotel. The staff, cleanliness, room and pool area were all good, and we were especially lucky with our unexpected apartment upgrade. However, the food and cockroach problem really let the hotel down for us. If the food quality improved and the cockroach issue was properly addressed, I would absolutely return. For now, though, I’d probably only consider coming back on B&B or half board. Recommendations for the area 📍 Faro Rock Steak House – In the town. Worth a visit if you fancy a steak. Aura Restaurant & Bar – Just outside the hotel. Lovely food and cocktails. Shops near the hotel – These sell the basics. There is a larger supermarket in town. Cigarettes – There isn’t a tobacconist, but the local shops sell cigarettes. Perfume shops – There are three to choose from. Two of the smaller ones offer discounts on some products, and all had lovely staff. Cats 🐈 – If you love cats, take a walk around the harbour walls. You’ll find cat houses and lots of friendly, well-looked-after wild cats.
