Grupotel Orquidea

We arrived late due to flight delay and was welcomed by friendly and helpful reception staff who booked us in and offered evening meal for late arrivals (Nice touch). The food throughout our stay was well cooked and well presented, there was always multiple choices daily and the sweets and ice cream were amazing. The staff here are always very friendly, helpful, polite and cant do enough to make your stay a pleasure; I don't know how they do it to be honest as they are constantly on the go and always seem to go the extra mile, Housekeeping staff were great and again if I'm honest sometimes there does not seem to be enough staff during high turnaround days and on these days room cleaning is delayed and late. The room we had was lovely, clean and had a beautiful view of the sea and hotel grounds. The shopping plaza across the road has everything you need Restaurants, supermarkets, gift shops and a lovely chinese restaurant/takeaway. What I will say is the supermarkets are quite expensive for certain items like chocolate, coffee etc. The atmosphere was relaxed and reasonably quiet for most of the time, the entertainment was good and the TUI Blue reps were amazing. We will definitely be coming back to the Orquidea hotel really ticked all the boxes for us.

The accommodation is very clean however is a bit tired in certain areas. There are plenty of sunbeds available however this has been at the sacrifice of parasols. There are very few available which is surprising for such a family orientated facility where young children need the option of shade when the sun is hottest. Maybe give up some beds & install more parasols? The air conditioning is poor throughout the hotel with it struggles to keep public areas & our bedroom cool. Our max temp was 26 so can’t imagine how the system coped if at all in higher temperatures. We stayed in a split level pool view room and it was well presented & clean. We had an issue with a nose bleed & sheets were changed within the hour of reporting it. The restuarant has a wide variety of food available including a kids buffet, pizza, pasta, fish, meat & salad stations and of course desserts with a Mr Whippy machine & chocolate fountain! We also had a Chinese themed night. Although not applicable to us the hotel does cater for special diets. Staff in the restaurant were quick to clear & maintain tables. We did not use the snack bar however it has facility for making your own toastie as well as usual pizza, burgers & hotdogs. The pool is clean however like many of a certain age requires a wee facelift. Some tiles were missing & some dodgy patch work in places. Lifeguards are strict & vigilant. There is plenty of staff & although there were the inevitable queues at the bar the service was swift & staff were always pleasant. Other than the main entertainment stage/area there are not many place to sit. There is an outdoor terrace which was lovely to sit & enjoy the resident singer but always struggled to get a seat. There is so much ground area so maybe worth investing in another outdoor bar perhaps by the water? Due to the age of the property there are very few toilet facilities. 2 women’s toilets outside the main entertainment area then 3 at the poolside. Not sure if that meets regulations based on the number of guests? We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday & we probably would return however would describe the hotel is a 3* plus but with some upgrades it has the potential to be an excellent 4*.

Really good place, the only thing that pool closes quite early, but it depends on what you really like. You have to have a proper shoes on you if you wanna swim in the ocean. But, anyways, it’s beautiful and comfortable place to stay. The staff is friendly and will always help you if anything.
