Abora Continental by Lopesan Hotels

Very basic, rooms very clean, Beds uncomfortable, twin beds everywhere food average, very similar options daily, plenty of drink stations in the restaurant area, desserts hit and miss, Pools are lovely but not very well maintained in regard to cleanliness, Limited parasols and loungers available, they need to purchase more parasols to enable two loungers to every one parasol, Limited tables and chairs for evening outside entertainment, Nice friendly staff throughout, everyone welling, Need more staff for behind the bar in the evenings, All inclusive cocktails are awful (Premade) Reception/indoor entertainment areas in the evenings are roasting hot, no air conditioning appears to be there making it uncomfortable if you can't get a seat outside.

Suggestions needed to invest in more sun loungers, parasols, outside chairs and tables, and invest in improved pool maintenance and review your suppliers of your desserts, also get some more bar staff in the evening bar and some AC in that area.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, we didn't go hungry or thirsty, if you want basic accommodation with basic amenities then this is the place to go. You are near bars, restaurants, mini golf about 15min walk. Boat trip to view dolphins etc recommended (spirit of the sea).

We stayed at the Abora Continental for 5 nights, arriving late on the Monday due to delays to our flight out from Gatwick.

We were warmly greeted by the reception team, check in was super quick and easy and we were informed of a 24hr refreshments area, which was perfect as we missed the evening buffet, and we're needing a snack and a drink before heading to our room.

As a family of 3, our room was just the right size and layout for us to use as a base. We dropped off our bags and went to explore the hotel.

We read reviews about the state of some of the corridors in parts of the building, and it's true, we were on the 7th floor and the ceiling showed signs of water damage, but to be honest, the rest of the hotel makes up for the cosmetic damage.

We opted for all inclusive, so headed straight for breakfast at around 8:30am. The doors to the main pool, entertainment and buffet restaurant doesn't open until 8am, so if you planned to head down for brekkie before 8am, you would have to wait.

The breakfast selection is what you would expect, and there was plenty of choice for every type of water. The restaurant team run a smooth and efficient operation, keeping tables clean and tidy and always polite to the guests.

Like with any hotel, the choice and position of sun loungers is always an important decision, and the pool staff are hot on making sure sun loungers are not 'reserved'.

The animation team were brilliant and a real highlight of the holiday. Lots of poolside and aqua activities throughout the day for everyone to participate in. Plus a real range of evening entertainment, a personal favourite being the A Team V Guest night.

The poolside bar opened at 11:00 and hot buffet food including churros, fruit, hot food was available from 11:30/12 onwards. If you want an ice cream, you do have to pay for these at the pool bar but there is always ice cream on offer at lunch and dinner in the buffet restaurant.

We used the Wellness Healthy Massage centre on our first day. I had a back massage, as I had woken with a crick in my neck. Mónica was great, very professional and very experienced and I thoroughly enjoyed my massage.

I also used the gym at the hotel. I'll be honest, if you hoping for a decent work out, you won't get it. But, who goes on holiday to work out 🤣.

On the day of check out, you need to be checked out by 12pm. We were still able to access all the facilities, inc. the buffet restaurant for lunch and poolside amenities. There is a shower area for guests to use, once you're done with the pool.

The hotel is within walking distance of a shopping area, chemist and restaurants (if you are self catering or fancy something different). We didn't visit the beach, opting for a poolside break, but from the view from our room balcony, it's close by and offers water sports activities.

For a 3 star hotel, it definitely met our expectations and exceeded them in some areas. We would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here for 10nights with my husband & we had an amazing time. The staff were very friendly,our room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels were also left. The food choice was fantastic and to a very high standard,definitely something for everyone. The pools were 10/10. It was a 25 minute transfer from airport .It’s a 5 minute walk to beach which absolutely lovely. Plenty of shops and bars/restaurants. The night time entertainment wasn’t for me and my husband so we went out on a night to the bars which were a 5/10minute walk too. Absolutely loved mulligans Irish bar they had live entertainment each night and bar staff are really friendly.highly recommend this holiday and can’t wait to return to this hotel 👌
