This beach hotel is situated in the tourist centre, around 1.5 km from the local sandy beach, Playa del Inglés. Gran Canaria Airport is approximately 30 minutes by car. Within walking distance, guests will find a great shopping centre with entertainment opportunities. The nearest public transport stop is in the near vicinity. There is also a big range of bars, pubs and restaurants in the near surroundings. This holiday hotel complex, housed in a 9-storey main building and an 8-storey annexed block offering modern rooms, fully equipped to ensure a pleasant stay with maximum comfort. This is a great place to spend a few days with the family as it counts with two children's pools and an entertainment programme for adults and children.
Be more consistent across your brand please. Playa blanca in June appetiser in all inclusive and free room safe, margaritas in July 40 euro for safe hire and appetiser needs payment. Shame the B lounge was closed at margaritas as really enjoyed the facility at plays blanca ( pre dinner meeting place for large group). Drinks menu not well advertised at bars.
The rooms, staff and entertainment are good. Bar staff very helpful. Towards end of holiday there was some drama over pool beds by several different guests. There needs to be a better system in place. Food, from what I can gather from people we met who have stayed there before is that it isnt as good as prior. I would not rate the food as 4 star, however breakfast was good. We very rarely ate lunch and dinner in restaurant as chose to go out instead and we were all inclusive. The snack bar was very handy. Hotel and facilities good though otherwise. Maybe hotel has had a change in management as I understand pool beds/food have both changed recently
Overall a lovely holiday, location is ok long walk to town but Yumbo centre and a few years and resturants close by. Not much evening entertainment and mostly finished by 10pm, ok for families with young children but a bit boring for teens. Rooms were nice but bathrooms could do with some attention, not that clean in places. All the staff were helpful and pleasant. Think the most disappointing thing was the state of the flooring at the top pool, i think from previous reviews the tiles have been broken for a long time, its the best pool to sit around for the sun and more quiet than the other pool but I was concerned about the safety of the bottom of the pool. Food was good, typical all inclusive buffet with breakfast being my favourite meal. We had a nice week, probably wouldn't return as preferred other Barcelo resorts in the canary islands.
Family of 5, rooms were clean. Food was repetitive, all inclusive. Food could be hotter and some breakfast staff were very rude. Pool area could be cleaner and pool itself could be cleaner. Weather was very good. We enjoyed our stay because we were with family. I will not be returning. I have stayed in other Barcelo hotels which I preferred.
while the hotel itself was clean, comfortable and enjoyable regarding poolside entertainment, new management left many guests frustrated. new rules were implemented randomly throughout the week, causing people to buy pool balls or floats, and then several days later be told that they could no longer use it. additionally, sunbeds are impossible to keep unless you are sat with them consistently. the pool staff take reserved towels from sunbeds late into the day, particularly during meal times where families have left to eat in the buffet, leaving them with the option of losing their beds or eating separately. some of the bar staff, though not all of them, are fairly rude, often taking orders and then ignoring the customer and refusing to serve them until they ask again. in terms of food availability, there is always something worth filling your plate with, but food variety is limited, as different stations within the buffet are filled with the same type of food, leaving your options each night mostly the same - often a variation of meat, potato and rice. i would not recommend for people who want quality and quantity within their all inclusive buffet. in terms of the pools themselves, the main pool is fun throughout the day, with engaging entertainment such as bingo, aerobics and water polo. however, the quieter pool at the top of the hotel is run down, with the pool floor peeling to reveal the concrete underneath, and the remaining paint is sharp and can very easily cut. the bar availability is very limited, with no bar inside the main lobby, leaving only the two poolside bars. while this is good during the day, it is lacking at night, after or before your meal, when you want to relax with a drink. in terms of the location, the best bars and restaurants are on the beach. if you are a family, i highly recommend that you do not visit the nearby shopping centres, as they are very, very focused on swingers and provocative bars, with the staff at these local bars often trying to convince you to enter, despite travelling with a young child, as “nothing happens until 10pm.” finally, the efficiency of the hotel aircon is weak, meaning most nights you end up falling asleep far too warm, or sweating during your meal at the buffet. overall, the hotel was very average, and did not nearly meet the expectations that were created through the advertisement.
