Hotel Altamar is set above Amadores Bay, with impressive sea views. The property has 2 outdoor swimming pools and attractive gardens. Altamar offers spacious apartments, with large terraces and sea views. They all have a ceiling fan in the room and the living space and bedroom, satellite TV and a safe. The well-equipped kitchens includes a ceramic hob, fridge and microwave. The hotel is just 1km from Amadores Beach, in a quiet area of Puerto Rico. Anfi Tauro Golf Course is nearby. It offers free parking on site. The Altamar has a restaurant and a snack bar, open from 08:00 until 00:00 daily. It also has a 24-hour reception, a supermarket and a self-service laundry. Free Wi-Fi access is available at reception. The hotel also offers luggage storage and a courtesy room with shower, for guest to enjoy before check-out.

Great Value Stay with Stunning Sea Views
We’ve just returned home after a wonderful week-long self-catering stay at the Altamar.
The transfer from the airport took around an hour, which was straightforward enough.
Finding our apartment was a little challenging, and it took us around 45 minutes to locate it. However, once we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. We had booked a two-bedroom apartment, and our adult daughter had her own private entrance to her room. We all shared a huge balcony equipped with four sun loungers, four chairs, a table, and a parasol. The apartment itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable.
The hotel is quite large and boasts stunning sea views. There are two swimming pools: one located near the bar and another without a bar, which we found to be much quieter and more relaxing. Inflatable toys and balls are not permitted in the pools, although young non-swimming children can use armbands or a rubber ring. Pool towels are provided by the hotel.
We ate lunch at the snack bar on several occasions and were very impressed by both the quality and the generous portion sizes.
Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, with the exception of one member of staff in the Spar shop who came across as rather unfriendly. The Spar itself is well stocked, although prices are slightly higher than elsewhere.
The lift system operates more like a funicular-style lift, and there can sometimes be a wait, particularly as some floors appeared to be out of service. Walking downhill was easy enough, but the climb back up was very steep. Because of this, I would not recommend the hotel for guests with mobility issues.
We walked to Amadores Beach, which took about 20 minutes, mostly downhill. The beach is beautiful, and we enjoyed several evening meals there. For the return journey, we took a taxi costing approximately €5-€6.
There is a bus stop and taxi rank directly outside the hotel, and taxis were always readily available with very little waiting time.
The Europa Centre is around a 10-minute walk from the hotel and offers a variety of bars and restaurants. While some people may enjoy the lively atmosphere, we personally found it a little dated and not particularly well maintained. Instead, we preferred the main shopping centre in Puerto Rico, which was only a short taxi ride away. Be prepared, however, for restaurant staff actively encouraging customers to dine at their establishments.
Overall, I would recommend the Altamar. The spectacular views and large balconies really make it stand out. It offers good value for money and delivers exactly what you would expect from a three-star property.

Not what it used to be !!!!
Have been coming here for 20 years and loved every minute of it took a break and came back, and will never be back, servitor you have ruined it, the cleanliness at pool area, small glass for lager people don't use small glasses they use pint glasses the cleaners are not what they used to be, the entertainment is shocking all acrobatics used to be singers and all different entertainment, entertainment crew the mic never worked I was embarrassed with it all. You are missing bingo and Gazza. Three of my family took unwell the night they arrived home and my brother and sister in law came Over and he took unwell , 4 days in bed, total waste of a 2 week holiday. You need to seriously look at your hotel
Excellent hotel
Lovely hotel, this is our 2nd stay at the Altamar. A lot has been upgraded since our last stay in 2023. Staff are great, food is amazing for 3 star, always something for everyone. Beautiful views over the sea. Apartments are roomy with large balconies. We were allocated room 423b, we arrived at midnight and taken to our apartment, when we first saw it me and my husband said this is bad we will complain in the morning. On arrival there wasn't a balcony with table and chairs and no view but we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to the kitchen/lounge with a shower room, walked through to a huge double bedroom with another shower room and a massive balcony! So if you get allocated this random room don't worry, it's amazing. 2 air con units, one in each main room. Staff were great, especially the animation team for the kids. One of the best holidays, thank you to all the.hard working staff at altamar 🙂
Pretty good
This place is decent, though there a couple of niggles.
First, the lifts are in high demand for most of the day. So, you can be waiting quire some time to take one. The fact that the hotel has placed benches on the corridors next to the lift doors on each floor tells you everything.
Second, the gym doesn't (officially) open until 8am. You can probably sneak in a little earlier if you want to, though.
There are no usable car parking places on site. You end up having to find a parking place on the streets nearby, usually within 1km away. That may sound like a drag but far better than booking taxis to and from the beach or, worse, climbing the hill from the beach every day.
On the subject of car hire, there's some real bargains out there if you look hard enough.
Conversely, breakfast is pretty good, the pools are warm, more than enough sun loungers, the kitchenettes are handy and the room AC works well.
On balance this is a good resort but you really need a car if you plan to visit the beach regularly.
Really good week in a beautiful spot
A great hotel , we had a wonderful week of sunshine . Food and drinks offering are really good , lots of choice . Room very spacious, balcony huge . Pool towels included . Entertainment team and shows kept us entertained. No air con in restaurant , can get very warm but you can sit outside lots of tables and chairs to choose from . Would definitely come back …..
