Look elsewhere!!

We arrived here on the 17th July for 2 weeks, late and tired with 2 children and were given a map with a pen line drawn to show our room.... This didn't explain the lift we needed to get or explain how our room was miles away and then up 3 flights of stairs, with 4 cases and 4 hand luggage cases. In the end, another guest helped us with our bags!!

The room is tired but you get what you pay for with that. However, the 2 "beds" in the living room for the kids to sleep on were abysmal and were akin to sleeping on benches or I'm guessing that of beds in a prison! It got so bad for my daughter that she ended up swapping with my husband for most of the holiday and slept in with me whilst my husband slept on the "wall" !!

In the morning a much needed shower was taken..... This flooded the entire bathroom and was running out into the main area which meant using our own beach towels to clean up! We reported this to reception whilst we went to the pool who said it would be sorted right away. On our return, it was unclear to see if anything had been done and the shower still leaked until we learnt to have the power on half so it didn't flood the room and give the ants/ cockroaches a little spa break!!

You need to queue up by at least 8am if you want a bed by the pool and even then you had to get your running shoes on for a bed!! I think during the whole 2 weeks we were there, we must have had sunbeds 3 times.... The rest, we had to go to the beach! Considering we paid all inclusive, it turned out expensive during the day as we had to spend on the beach for food and refreshments. You can pay for a taxi to and from the beach as there's no shuttle bus from the hotel or walk down the 870 steps to the beach (yes, we counted!!!!) I have MS and my son is autistic so you can imagine taxis were paid for a lot!!!

However, this wasn't always bad as the food at the hotel was so bad, I actually lost 4lb whilst we were away as I just couldn't eat it !! There's hardly any choice and tinned pineapple, tinned fruit or watermelon was really all I could stomach!!! Although there is a spar on site you can buy food from for your room..... But it's the most expensive spar in the world so for any of those with heart conditions, I wouldn't pop in there for a bottle of shampoo if I was you!!! We ended up eating out a lot though and spent at least an extra €750 on that!!

The entertainment of an evening was an hour long and I think 3 times only we watched that for our own "entertainment" as it was so bad, the rest of the evenings were spent watching the weather channel in the room as it was the only one we could get in English!!!! I'm practically a pro now in the world of hurricanes and tornados!!!

The lifts were fun though and reminded us of the big one in Blackpool!! They were akin to big hamster balls that are 3000 degrees during the day and -50 of an evening and you must hold on to the bars as it takes off or you'll go flying!!

The staff though were amazing and very friendly..... Except the head entertainment guy who always seemed angry and perhaps needed a hug!!!

All in all this was a loooooooong 2 weeks and we, Including the kids, couldn't wait to come home! We love gran canaria but unfortunately, Riosol will be much avoided in the future.

Bad experience

We stayed at this hotel for seven nights in August 2026, but unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. Our room was cleaned only twice, despite repeatedly asking reception. The room and beds were not suitable for a family of four, and the beds were very uncomfortable and unstable.

We also found the restaurant and bar staff unwelcoming. Although we had booked half board, we were repeatedly told we were not entitled to drinks, and even tap water at the pool bar cost €2.50 per glass. Overall, we did not feel welcomed or comfortable during our stay and would not recommend this hotel.

Very bad experience

Firstly the check in was smooth apart from the women on reception to point out a room on a map and for us to make our own way there with cases down steep steps to get to our room which was very outdated, clamy, mouldy and not very well maintained

There was no air con in room however there was a fan which was not different to having no fan with the week we were there been a heatwave the fan wasn’t cutting anything so went to see what could be done which was nothing on there behalf however we could rent a air con unit for 17 euro off a outside source or pay 20 a night for a room upgrade however upon requesting this they said they didn’t have a room so I went on booking . Com to find they did have a room He told me it wasn’t possible and if you was to book it you’d not be moving as there was no room and delay with booking taking it off so I checked there actual website after leaving and the room was on there coincidentally the website doesn’t lie and we were been pushed off Showers have mould in Bedrooms was okay Kitchen area outdated

The pool area was busy from early morning till late on with no beds and a safety hazard walking through the walkways with people moving the beds which was like stepping stones and people crossing paths in tight areas due to no walkways in place

The vip rooftop area was great with lovely views drinks and sun loungers well worth the 25 euro pp as it was a more relaxed vibe

No opinion on food as we were self catering however plenty bars and restaurants serving all dishes near by and supermarket on the hotel grounds

Towels was not replaced for days once cleaners had been in which caused us to use our beach towels

Two days before departure from hotel the smoke alarms were taking down in places and in our room we were left with none and just bare wires hanging out when I asked reception they had no idea why this had happened and where this had happened at so I turned round to see the wires sticking out the fire detecter in front of reception and Pointed up at it for them to say no idea and kinda laugh it off have no idea if they work or was ever working however none in room

Would not return here very bad experience suppose to be holiday and was sadly very disappointing

Do not recommend

Hotel is located just by the Europa Centre. There are steps down to the beach and plenty restaurants & bars near by. There is a shop by the reception too. Location was great. The views are amazing.

The hotel was very busy which is expected for August however the pool area was very overcrowded. The adults only area on the rooftop was great, you pay around €25 pp and you get a drink and tools included.

Our room was in desperate need of a refurbishment. The bathroom & kitchen was grubby with mould in some spots. We had no air con in our room and we were provided with a fan, which during a heatwave was not ideal. We requested to pay to change rooms however we were told we would be unable to. We requested another fan but was told it was one fan per room. The smoke alarms were also removed five days into our stay - the reception staff were unsure as to why.

The room was poorly cleaned during our stay and we went without any towels for 2 days.

Unfortunately we will not be staying here again.

Lovely holiday – would recommend!

We had such a lovely time here! We booked a 2-bedroom apartment with air conditioning, which I would definitely recommend checking when you book, as not all of the rooms have air con and we spoke to quite a few people who were struggling with the heat in their rooms.

The all-inclusive included local spirits, beers and soft drinks, as well as a few cocktails. We thought the food was really good overall, with breakfast probably being my favourite! There was definitely something for everyone and food was available five times throughout the day – breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner – so you definitely won’t go hungry!

The pool area is lovely, although there are a few rules to be aware of. There are no ball games or large inflatables allowed, but small children’s rubber rings are fine. You can jump and dive into the pool, just no somersaults.

They are also strict about reserving sunbeds with towels in the morning. If you leave your towels unattended, staff will remove them. I actually really respected this rule because it stops people reserving poolside beds, disappearing for hours and then coming back later. There aren’t loads of sunbeds, but we managed to get four together every day, usually arriving at the pool between 8–9am.

If you like training on holiday, there is a gym too! The pictures online really don’t do it justice – I was pleasantly surprised by how good the setup was. There’s a nice selection of machines and plenty to get a decent workout in. It does get very warm though; there are fans but no air conditioning.

The animation team were brilliant. They were really friendly, encouraged everyone to get involved and hosted different games and activities throughout the day. The evening entertainment wasn’t amazing every night, but there was a mixture of things going on and something for different tastes.

The Europa Centre is only around a 5-minute walk away and has shops, bars, live music and different shows, so it’s nice to have somewhere close by to go in the evenings if you fancy getting out of the hotel.

And finally, the view from our balcony was amazing! 😍

Overall, we had a really lovely holiday. Good food, a nice pool, great animation team, surprisingly good gym and a fantastic view. You get what you pay for, it’s not cheap but it’s not expensive! Great value for money! We’d definitely recommend it – just make sure you check whether your room has air conditioning when booking! ☀️🌴
