DONE PANIC! The hotel is lovely. My fiancé, step daughter and I are almost at the end of our weeks holiday here and we have all had a lovely time. We were so anxious before going after reading all the recent poor reviews and were wanting to change hotels desperately but couldn’t, and we are so glad we didn’t! If you look for negatives around the hotel then yes you will find them, like all hotels. I will list them so you can be aware.
Negatives - The worst one…The food. It’s OK…sometimes really nice….occasionally bad. We all found plenty to eat every day. The biggest issue was the hygiene of the food, sometimes covered with a few flies but you’re in an all inclusive hotel abroad, what do you expect. Some things looked unappealing and had clearly been left out for a while. Just avoid what looks questionable. Late night snacks (22:30) were pretty gross and gave me a bad stomach so we avoided for the rest of the trip and didn’t need to eat anyway as dinner is late. Lots of nice restaurants around the area if you fancy a trip out like we did. Did this impact our holiday? - NO!
Cleaning - so far our room has been cleaned once which isn’t ideal. We haven’t complained about it though as we’re not really bothered. The pool area I think is pretty clean but not perfect and yes sometimes cup bins don’t get changed…again what do people expect😂it does not smell by the way! Did this impact our holiday? - NO!
Queues- 10 minute wait absolute max. On average it is a couple minutes. Seriously?! Get over it. Did this impact our holiday? - NO!
Positives- The pool area is amazing just as the photos show! The entertainment is some of the best I’ve seen abroad and so much for the kids to do. It’s summer holidays and I was expecting carnage but it’s nothing of the sort. It doesn’t feel overly busy or hectic. ALWAYS plenty of sun loungers at any point of the day. Rooms are good. Loads of activities. Local area is great and definitely worth a trip out. Shuttle bus and frequent taxis available. Staff work their bums off and have been super polite. Drinks are pretty good. Snacks all throughout the day available (TIP - lunch slacks. Breakfast is ok. Evening food is better. Just avoid lunch and get pool snacks, there is plenty to eat and fill up on).
Overall the positives MASSIVELY outweigh the negatives. It’s been lush. No it’s not the Ritz…it’s an all inclusive child friendly hotel in Lanzarote which it lives up to and we thought it was pretty great :)
We had a great stay at Elba Lanzarote. The rooms are lovely and kept really clean. Air conditioning worked well and TV has CBeebies which was great for kids. Pool area is big and has two slides which weren’t great but kept kids happy. There is also a small pool for younger kids. We went at peak time so it was busy but the pool design is clever and doesn’t make it feel too busy. It was so quiet at our room and even by pool and in restaurants it never felt noisy. Food was nicely prepared and a good variety. Could do with more protein options for kids. Drinks overall were good. Beer was nice. Wine and cava weren’t great but drinkable. Sangria was nice. But the spirits and soft drinks were branded and good quality.
Staff were lovely and helpful. Raul and Maria Jose at the bars were great. Entertainment team were great especially raquel, dani, Jennifer Lulu. The whole team worked so hard. The children loved the discos and the team are very talented dancers and put on good shows.
I found the theatre and restaurant very hot and felt they needed air conditioning to make the experience more comfortable for guests and staff.
The beach - playa dorada which the bus goes too was so nice. And the rubicon marina is walkable from there and has market on Wednesday and Saturday morning. Really lovely.
In terms of cost it was what I would expect to pay for what we received.
Really recommend. Overall great experience.
We’ve just come back from Royal Elba Village Resort in Lanzarote and honestly, I felt like I had to write a review because before we went I was SO nervous after reading some of the reviews on here. I was genuinely thinking “what have we booked?!” 😂 But I can honestly say we had the BEST holiday and I would go back in a heartbeat.
We went as a group of 6 adults and 2 children, and we had a few fussy eaters with us… including adults, not just the kids, so I was really worried about the food. But we actually thought the food was fantastic. There was something different every night and there was always plenty to choose from. Nobody was going hungry, that’s for sure!
The drinks were also really good. You get proper branded alcohol like Malibu and Disaronno etc and the lager is Cruzcampo. I had read reviews saying you have to queue for drinks and yes, we did have to queue sometimes, both during the day and at night, but it really wasn’t a big deal. We were never waiting long, literally probably 5 minutes max.
Just to mention with the drinks, at breakfast you can help yourself to your own drinks, but at lunch and dinner the waiters bring your drinks to you and take your order I will say that this can slow things down a little bit sometimes because on a couple of occasions we had our food before our drinks came. I do think it would be better if they had a help-yourself drinks station at lunch and dinner as well. BUT honestly, it didn’t bother us. We’re patient people and it wasn’t an issue, we still got our drinks, we just sometimes had to wait a little bit.
There are also water stations around the hotel, which was really handy. We took refillable bottles for our two kids and just filled them up throughout the day. We also took some squash with us because the kids aren’t really fans of pop, so they just had their squash and water while we were there. Definitely worth taking refill bottles if you’re travelling with children.
We went down into town one day for cocktails and food and guess what… we had to queue there too 😂 I think sometimes people expect to book an all-inclusive holiday and have someone waiting on them hand and foot the whole time. It’s a holiday, there are going to be queues sometimes! It really didn’t bother us at all.
The hotel actually wasn’t that busy either, which surprised us considering we went during the six weeks holidays as we would normally go during term time.
The Italian restaurant is a MUST! As soon as you arrive, I would honestly recommend booking it straight away. I had the beef fillet and it was unbelievable. Honestly one of the best meals we had all holiday. There is also a steak restaurant but that’s only open Saturday and Sunday. We arrived on a Saturday and it was already fully booked, which was disappointing at first, but after eating at the Italian we honestly didn’t feel like we’d missed out.
Our rooms were spotless. They were cleaned every day and we genuinely couldn’t fault them. Everything was kept really clean and tidy throughout our stay.
We also went for my partner’s stepdad’s 50th birthday, and when we arrived they upgraded him and my partner’s mum to Premium, which was such a lovely gesture and really made the occasion even more special. On the days when we went out with the kids, they stayed in the Premium area and really enjoyed having a bit of peace and quiet and making the most of it!
The pools were also lovely. Some are salt water and some are normal pools. I was a bit unsure about the salt water ones but actually I loved them! The salt wasn’t too strong at all and we spent loads of time in them.
The entertainment was another big positive for us. We had two children with us and they absolutely loved it, which is the main thing! 😂 There was something for everyone and all 8 of us enjoyed the evenings together.
There’s also a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the beach which was really handy.
We booked the Yellow Submarine trip and Ranch Texas while we were there and I would 100% recommend both if you’re taking children. They were brilliant and the kids loved them.
And I also have to mention the staff and people in Lanzarote in general because everyone we came across was so friendly and welcoming. The staff at the hotel were lovely and we never had any issues with anyone. We just found the whole place really relaxed and welcoming.
Overall, we genuinely had a 10/10 holiday. We went there expecting the worst because of the reviews and came home thinking how on earth are people reviewing the same place?! 😂
Obviously, no hotel is going to be perfect and everyone has different expectations, but we honestly couldn’t fault our holiday. The food was good, drinks were good, rooms were spotless, pools were lovely, the kids were happy, the entertainment was good and we just had an amazing time.
Please don’t read the bad reviews and panic like I did! 😂 Go with an open mind and make your own judgement because we are so glad we did.
We would 100% go back and I’m actually sad to be home! ❤️☀️🍹🇪🇸
10/10 from all 8 of us!
Staying here with 4 adults and 3 kids. We were divided up from “premium” to “standard” if you like. No difference at all in the rooms.
There’s loads of pools, all salt water except for the adults only pool but tbh it’s not that salty.
Breakfast is decent. Drinks are decent. Food at the adults only pool is really nice and reasonably priced and the man on the bar is hilarious and a great worker.
Rooms are really nice and clean. Cleaners are hard working and really good at their jobs.
The air con is brilliant. Like ICE. We had to turn it off at nights.
I read loads of reviews before coming and all were negative. Don’t know why. I’ve stayed in loads of hotels and honestly, nothing wrong with this one. Staff are great. Rooms are modern and clean. Food is nice. Pool area is great. Plenty Sunbeds.
Towels changed daily if you request. Bottled of water given daily.
Only thing they don’t replace is the coffee pods, unless you wanna pay 1 euro50 each. Go to Lidl, 5 minutes away and buy a box of 20 for 4 euro.
There is an iron and board in the room. A hair dryer in the bathroom.
One side of the bed also accepts UK plugs. The old USB too. Fridge in the room too.
Massive car park too if you hire a car. Free shuttle bus daily to the town.
Whenever we were down at the local town, the taxi queue was HUGE. So id recommend car hire.
For what we paid, id defo come back and recommend to others.
