This is a four star haven where you can relax, unwind, and really enjoy yourself at leisure.
The facilities here are excellent, with plenty of options to keep you entertained. As well as a choice of inviting swimming pools and sun terraces, you might also like to try out the spa or opt for a rejuvenating sauna or massage. Sporty types will love having the gym and tennis court on hand. And gourmets will savour the choices presented in no less than five restaurants, each with its own ambience. After dinner, there's often entertainment offered as well as a disco.
Double rooms are nicely furnished and feature a balcony or terrace, air conditioning, satellite television, telephone, hairdryer, safety deposit box* and minibar* (upon request). Rooms with a sea view are also available at a supplement.

This 4-star hotel is ideally located on the beachfront of Las Coloradas, between Playa Blanca village and Papagayo Beach, on the south coast of Lanzarote. From the hotel you can enjoy stunning views of Fuerteventura and Lobos Island. The hotel offers guests a free shuttle service to Playa Dorada Beach four times a day.

A lovely second stay.
My husband and I had ten days here beginning of October and had a lovely time. It was our second visit and didn't disappoint. Although a bit further out of Playa Blanca it's a lovely walk along the coastline to the harbour. A regular bus does come within ten minutes of the hotel if you don't always want to walk. The food is lovely with plenty of choice.
School report ' Good but could achieve more'
Over the years I think we have stayed at the majority of hotels in Playa Blanca and found the Sandos Papagayo up towards the top of the list. On arrival we were disappointed to no porter service for this large multi confusing level hotel. The room was the same as the majority of standard rooms on the island and nothing different even though we had upgraded to Royal Elite. The room even though I think it was recently refitted was lacking a bit of ' Tender Loving Care'. Bottom of panel in bathroom blown due to moisture, sealant around bath and panels could be more tidy, use of stainless screws to avoid rust stains.
The big plus was the catering in the Royal Elite which was very good, among the best we have experienced. The only let down was the total lack of consideration for food intolerances. I had advised the hotel prior to the visit of gluten free requirement but very little was available. No labels on any food in the restaurant as to ingrediencies and no knowledge available from staff on duty. Managed to be served gluten free cornflakes and small prepacked buns but that was it. The other hotels on the island have labeling and sections of gluten free products with separate utensils and toasters available.
The bars for Royal Elite with the self service offering worked well apart with lack of non-alcohol varieties, had to go to the supermarket to purchase a bottle of non-alcohol gin for my other half.
We had a few issues with room cleaning/restocking of consumables which were resolved by the evening turn down lady who went out of her way to sort the issues
Sunbed wars exist at this hotel, the worst we have experienced for years.
Overall we have enjoyed our 10 day stay but feel with little effort this hotel could go to the next level.
Another Great Stay at the Sandos Papagayo
This was now our third time overall staying at the Sandos, this time for just a week in a superior seaview room, in block C, 5th floor (room 526).
First of all, we come here knowing exactly what to expect, and nothing has changed since we were last here 18 months ago.
Big, beautiful, hotel, maybe showing its age a little here and there now, but still a wonderful place.
Staff from reception, to the bars, to the restaurant were all friendly, and always happy to help. Hotel, pool areas, restaurant, bars, and our room were all spotless and cleaned regularly over the course of the week.
Food was what you would expect from a four star hotel, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Always plentiful, and always being replaced regularly. I don't think we ever struggled to find something to eat the whole holiday, and that in itself is unusual.
Only downsides? Well, distance to the main part of Playa Blanca is a good hike. The marina is around 30mins, and to the other end of the pedestrianised area, another 30mins on top of that. The Sandos does have a shuttle bus that comes and goes during the day taking you to the Princess Yaiza and back which helps some, but be prepared for a good walk otherwise, which is lovely right along the length of the resort thanks to the promenade.
The other downside, the "speciality" restaurant. That was probably the biggest let down. You have two options, a Chinese night, and a Mexican night. The Mexican was definitely better, but both feel very half hearted attempts and tacked on to use a dining space that isn't the Royal Elite area.
Final point here as well, is that our room in C block was wonderful, with a superb view, but it does get a lot of noise coming down from the pool bar at night when the shows are on. These do stop around 11pm so it's not too bad, but just something to be aware of.
Will we be back again? Absolutely. It's a place we continue to love and enjoy every time we're here!

Beg bugs or fleas ???
Tried to ring reception but phone doesn't work. No idea why it's there. Came to bed and there's literally little brown bugs jumping around on our bed. Killed them all but feel absolutely disgusting trying to sleep in this bed or the thought of taking my luggage home. Not happy at all! 😡
Good overall with some negatives
We had a lovely stay here as a family of four with a 1 and 4 year old!! The food was really good, good choice and the fusion restaurants are a lovely addition! The bars are good and my kids loved the mini disco every night! Plus the shows and entertainment after this are really good for a hotel! Reception staff were always helpful and friendly! We were in G block and had a lovely view of pools and sea. The 24 hour all inclusive was great for us as if the kids woke up early we could go grab them something from here. Good addition having microwaves to warm up baby bottles. We did think the meal times were quite late for kids however it wasn’t too much of an issue plus we understand it may be a European thing.
We did have a bad smell from our shower drain they did sort it draining away but the smell did remain but we couldn’t be bothered to pack all of our stuff up again and move.
We learned on day 1 you have to get down and reserve beds early because they have all gone by 9-10am!!
One big negative we had is a member of the animation team (Sergio) made my (usually very social) daughters VERY uncomfortable to the point my husband had to literally tell him to get away from them. He seemed very friendly at first chatting to the kids but my 1 year old started to get annoyed with the booping on the nose and just generally in her face so I moved her away and so he sat right next to my 4 year old who by this point was also very uncomfortable as he had been at our table now around 5 minutes. And he started booping her on the nose which she clearly didn’t like (neither did I ) so I took her away and he followed us, Carrying on trying to touch them and get in their faces. They were both very clearly uncomfortable and my 1 year old was crying and wanted him to go away yet he didn’t get the message, my husband literally had to say they want you to go away now, he still didn’t leave after this! And my husband had to be quite rude to get him to leave us alone. After this my daughter said she wanted to leave whenever she saw him he made her feel that uncomfortable.
Apart from that though everything was lovely and we had an overall good stay here!
