We had another fantastic family holiday at Sandos Papagayo. We first visited in 2025 and enjoyed it so much that we came back again in 2026, and it didn’t disappoint!
The atmosphere around the hotel is always friendly and welcoming, making it a great place for families. The staff work incredibly hard to make sure everyone has a great time, and there is always something to do.
A special mention goes to Zack from the animation team. He was absolutely brilliant throughout our stay—always full of energy, friendly, and made everyone feel included. He really helped create a fun atmosphere and made our holiday even more enjoyable.
Thank you to everyone at Sandos Papagayo for another wonderful holiday. We would definitely recommend it to families looking for a relaxing and fun break, and we’re already looking forward to returning again!
We went in may we treated ourselves to the elite Everthing was wonderful Elite restaurant was was quiet staff were pleasant Our room was spotlessly clean and we had a fantastic view of the sea There was work going on near the pool but it never effected us in any way A beautiful hotel food excellent Enyertainment was hit and miss but still watchable So good were going back in september
I have stayed at this hotel previously in 2019 and found it had the wow factor back then, its lost that I feel. This hotel is suited to families, the children are the most catered to there is plenty to keep them entertained and happy day and night. My pet hate in a hotel is having to get up early to reserve a sunbed but if you didn't get up early there were no sunbeds left for you. The room was fine, not big enough for 2 adults and a teenager but manageable, the view from our balcony was perfect and our room faced the main pool. (Block H room 1122) The animation team were great and there was plenty of activities and competitions throughout the day The food was mediocre at best, breakfast was ok, lunch was hit or miss. I found dinner lacking the most not enough choices that went together to form a meal, such as meat, potatos and veg it seemed more random. The food tasted nice I just felt for a hotel of that size there would be more and better options as the buffet stretched the length of the hall but either side had the same dishes. The drinks (cocktails) were awful! Premixed sugar even the aperol seemed premixed. The pool bar didn't open until 11am which I found was too late for even water or juice! So breakfast finished at 10 and you need to wait an hour to get a drink from the pool bar. They should leave the juice and coffee machine on. The evening entertainment was good, we watched 3 acts and enjoyed them. There should be a designated smoking area as I found it difficult to enjoy sunbathing when someone was smoking next to me. The white chair seating area at night was so overcrowded! They seem to try and pack too many people into that area. Im not sure why they stopped used the amphitheatre they have it was set up with ping pong tables instead and I felt the bottom floor area for acts wasn't ideal as some of the chairs views were obstructed by pillars so the set up seemed stupid, we sat the floor above looking down and its much better as you can avoid pillars as well as people just standing unfront of you when you are trying to enjoy the show. It was my daughters birthday while there and I messaged ahead to let the hotel know and they done nothing, not even a card in the room saying happy birthday which I thought was poor.
All in all I wouldnt be back to this hotel due to it feeling more like a butlins vibe rather than a more classy hotel, too many children just running around doing what they wanted and parents no where to be seen.
We have just returned from a brilliant week at Sandos Papagayo, we thought the hotel was great value for money and all the staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the animation team.
Our room was perfect for a couple and the sea view was lovely to wake up to every day. We were close to the lifts so we could hear the noise from it, but didn’t affect us enough to move rooms. The air con was good.
We enjoyed all the restaurants at the hotel, the main buffet was slightly repetitive but still enjoyable and our favourite was the Fusion buffet, would recommend booking for both the Mexican and Asian nights!
We found the hotel to be clean and the choice of pool areas great, we mostly used the main big pool but there is an adults only pool too. Most of the sun beds are gone by about 10am, but we were still able to find some after lunch time or you can just get some in the morning.
We enjoyed the options for both day and evening activities/entertainment and the animation team are great.
The shuttle bus into Playa Blanca is really useful, a slightly later afternoon return time (later than the 12:30pm) would be good.
We would definitely come back☀️
We have just returned from a fabulous week at Sandos Papagayo! Myself and my husband went for a mini break with our son and his girlfriend. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and there was a great buzz to the atmosphere. The hotel went out of their way to put us in rooms next to each other and we were given rooms in B block overlooking the sea. It was extremely quiet and peaceful, with just the sounds of the waves lapping on the shore! It was perfect. The room was large and clean with comfy twin beds. There was good storage, a coffee machine, a fridge and water. The bathroom was large with a bath and over bath shower, a toilet and bidet. It was a little dated but clean and working. The outdoor area was great! We had a patio area which looked directly over the beach and the sea with great views of Fuerteventura. It was a great place to sit and soak up the sun! The rest of the hotel did not disappoint either, with its many levels, with shops, hair salon, bars and access to 3 large pools! It was exceptionally clean and well maintained. There were plenty of sun loungers, some were reserved quite early but we never had trouble finding spare ones. The restaurants were excellent with a wide variety of food available everyday! We even managed to book into oriental night and Mexican night which were both worth booking when you get there. The staff and entertainment staff were great, I’d provide names but I’m not good at remembering them! Look out for the poolbar man who is more than generous with his spirit measures! I can honestly say we were quietly surprised with the hotel after reading some of the negative reviews, it just goes to show you can’t always go by what others think and it’s best to make your own mind up! We absolutely loved everything the hotel and the surrounding area had to offer, it was great value for money and we all agreed we would love to return! So thank you Sandos papagayo for a lovely holiday! We’ll be back!
