A lovely holiday at the Floresta Hotel

Family of 7 over 3 rooms. The rooms are excellent. Just myself and husband in mine, had separate bedroom with ceiling fan over the bed and very good air con in lounge / hall, so apartment was always cool. Lovely bathroom with walk in shower and a small kitchen area with table and chairs. It’s a lovely spacious apartment, cleaned daily. If have mobility issues ask for ground floor as there are no lifts. We were 1st floor so about 12 steps to go up. Big patio area with loungers, table, chairs and towel rack. Lovely big main pool with loads of loungers no matter what time you go you are most likely going to get one and we went in July. Not a huge amount of umbrellas though and the pool is salt water. The smaller pool is chlorine also a nice pool. There is not much entertainment in the pool apart from water polo and occasionally water aerobics. There is hotel entertainment but we went out instead so can’t comment on that. We were half board. Food was typical all inclusive no issues there. Out of the 11 night we were there we ate out on 5 occasions , so they let you switch dinner to lunch which was very good. Spa shop opposite the hotel, sandy beach across the road(£15 euro for 2 loungers & umbrella) shops and restaurants along the seafront. £5 euros into playa de carmen or a nice 30 minute seafront walk. Reception staff very helpful with excellent English. A lovely holiday was had by us all, thank you Floresta hotel

Amazing family holiday!

Just returned from an amazing family holiday at this wonderful hotel! We loved everything about this place, we had a 2 bed apartment and it was very spacious and cleaned daily.

The choice of food in the main restaurant was different everyday and even my fussy 12 year old was full everyday! We loved that it was replenished very frequently to keep the dishes readily available and it was very tasty too.

We stayed all inclusive and were very happy, the pool bar doesn't open until 11am and hot food is served 12-4pm like burgers, chicken nuggets, ham & cheese toasties and chips. (Usually no longer than a 10 minute wait and we were there in the height of summer) Scoop ice cream is free on all Inclusive but the tall freezer with ice creams you had to pay for those so bear that in mind when going! Cakes & pastries were served at 4pm in pool bar too so that was a nice touch!

The staff at this resort are so friendly and hardworking and go out of their way to ensure you are enjoying your holiday - huge mention to Ayoub in the pool / cocktail bar! It was an absolute joy getting served by him as we loved his cheerful friendly character!

Plenty of sun beds available too, even if you go down at 8:30 / 9am there were still beds available, just none left with parasols - they were taken by 7am most days.

If you are planning on walking into matagorda to the end of the airport runway to watch the aeroplanes take off and land over your head I suggest you go early morning as it's a good 40 minute walk and is quite hard to do in the heat with children!

We thoroughly enjoyed every part of our holiday and will definitely return!! Thank you to all the team at Hotel Floresta!

it really is three stars

the location is really good it is a two minute walk to the beach and around a 10 minute car ride down to the strip but the restaurant and bar near the hotel are good. The rooms are spacious and are kept clean and the pool is very big and fun. On the other hand, the pillows of the hotel are horrible so it will be hard to get comfortable and the beds are not the best either. On my trip they ran out of water which was not ideal. The sewers can get quite smelly from time but not a huge problem. i think the main problem is the food. the breakfast is good but lunch and dinner is dreadful so i would recommended going out to eat the food is terrible

Nice place

Staying here at the moment, it's a lovely hotel, staff all very nice, room is one bedroom facing the pool and is a decent size , you have a safe in room wich you can rent for €10 a week which is handy, rooms cleaned every day and air-conditioning is great, I was a bit dubious about the food looking at other reviews but honestly the food was nice and always something for everyone ,we are staying half board and you can swap lunch for dinner if you like, it is a 20min walk to pdc but it's flat or you can easily get bus outside, all in all a nice place to stay, thankyou

Hotel Floresta - Half Board bargain

A 3 star hotel conveniently located close to the local beach and local shops/bars/eateries and activities.

Stayed on half board basis which was breakfast and dinner. No drinks included. Permitted water with dinner only. Breakfast included hot drinks and fruit juices.

On our final day we purchased lunch at the hotel for €14 each as it was the easiest option whilst waiting for our transfer back to the airport.

If you wanted to eat out for dinner there is the option to have dinner swapped to lunch at the hotel for that day but that has to be arranged via Reception.

It appeared that the lunch and dinner offerings aside from some of the hot dishes are virtually the same so could understand why those on AI were not overly keen on the range / variety.

Half board suited us and we really enjoyed the options. Breakfast was 7.30-11am which is great. Lunch 1-3pm. Dinner 6.30-9.30pm.

Hotel generally is very clean and staff all very pleasant.

Some litter but that is down to guests not using the bins and there are enough bins located.

Not enough parasols or shady optics given the number of guests at the hotel. Definitely set your alarm to get up early to reserve sunbeds with parasols. People up as early as 6.30/7am doing this.

Accommodation was a one bed self catering style apartment overlooking the pool. WiFi did not reach the bedroom at the rear of the property.

Child slept on the pull out of the sofa which was ok.

Small fridge with freezer compartment. Didn’t use the hob or the coffee maker.

Balcony had clothes drier and chairs/table.

Aircon in main living area. Fan in the bedroom with a large window that opened.

No mosquitoes so that was a bonus.

Website is slightly misleading as states it has two children’s pools and two adult pools. In fact it has two small children pools and one larger pool. Main pool is saltwater. Showers round the pool to rinse off. No lifeguard, just to mention as that might be an issue for some guests.

Didn’t use the kids clubs so can’t comment.

You will need to purchase a safety deposit key with a €10 refundable deposit. €6 charge for the rental.

Spa shop right outside and a great bar next door to that. Preferred this bar to the hotel entertainment. Fantastic drinks. Mostly attentive service. Good food, looked and smelled amazing though didn’t eat there.

Despite it being summer holidays the local area felt quiet.

Beware sand on the beach is really hot and you will burn your feet so take flipflops or water shoes.
