Cap de Mar

9/16th Sept 2026 B/B at Cabot Cap de Mar, 4 star hotel on the fourth floor of the main hotel building. Our room with bathroom, lounge and bedroom were good with a lovely balcony view of the sea. If you go please note you pay for use of the room safe and the towels by the pool. My wife and I have travelled to many countries and never had to pay for these basics before, when I asked Reception I was told I should have read the website better, this was all within 1 hour of arriving. Location is very good, great walkways, with lots of good restaurants , bars and coffee outlets. Across the road is a “mini” sandy beach but if you like walking by the water make sure to have water proof footwear as there is no sand just stones and pebbles. Walk 0.3 miles to Cala Mellor beach which is fantastic. Pool is small and had very few people using this facility. Lifeguard and cleaners were very positive and friendly. However when ants appeared in our room I reported it to Reception, after 30 minutes I spoke to a Manager about why it was taking so long to sort, he replied “ didn’t I realise it was a large hotel”. Ants were eventually treated and disappeared. Last day staying prior to flight home late, we were offered shower facilities and a lock up for our luggage, very useful. Sadly getting to the main major issue. Of the 7 breakfasts none of the “hot” cooked buffet was remotely warm never mind hot, this was at 8.35 a.m.Yes you could have a freshly cooked omelette, fried egg and bacon, we gave up with the rest of the ‘hot buffet!’ We expect hot water for tea each morning, we tried the machine on average two cups each morning before we eventually got warm water, never hot. Finally there was lots of fresh bread, but no toaster. Would we go back. No. Through Jets 2 holidays we paid for a bed and very poor breakfast, simple??

Location Hotel in good location with easy access to local bars, shops, restaurants and Cala Bona front. Cala Bona beach not great but on 15 mins walk from Cala millor beach with its nice sand and clear water. Cala Bona marina just a 5 minute walk from hotel. Atmosphere Pleasant atmosphere with relaxed pool and cafe bar which also serve meals. Pool is partially shaded but nice to give you a break from the sun. Rooms Rooms nicely refurbished and set out well but a couple of issues with WC flushing and sink draining away. Shower also leaked badly causing water to pour over floor. Value Cost of hotel was ok but was disappointed with the quality of the breakfast produce. Cleanliness Main areas very clean however we had a bad experience with room. Bed sheets changed once in 10 nights. Towels were not changed until day 6 even though we put them on floor, which the cleaner placed back on towel rack dirty. Sink blocked and not cleaned with scum forming around it. Bins not emptied regular and floor not mopped for full duration which led to ants in room and on my bed. Left with no soap or floor towels, kept having to ask for the receptionist to tell me to come and get them instead of them dropping them off. Windows and patio dirty the full 10 days. Noise levels Noisy at night with bars close by and a nightclub. Ok during the day. Service Very disappointing to say it’s a 4 star. A lot of staff were very unfriendly and had bad attitudes and poor customer service skills. I complained about the poor cleaning and from that point staff were rude, ignored me and talked in Spanish and laughed which was very rude. The breakfast team were really friendly and helpful, especially a guy called Raul who was always happy to help and great with the kids. Amenities Nice spa with pools, sauna, steam room, showers etc. Main Pool small with small child pool but not great access as quite high drop point into pool for children. There was some good disabled facilities though for easy access. Overall verdict Although it says 4 star, this does not feel like a 4 star hotel. The service plays a big part in a hotel being 4 star and the service we received was very poor. I would certainly not return.
