This hotel revels in its beachfront setting, lying just a short distance away from the heart of Cala Millor. Guests will find themselves within easy access of the beach, as well as a host of shopping, dining and entertainment venues. Links to the public transport network can be found nearby. This charming hotel offers guests a relaxing haven in which to escape the rest of the world. The hotel comprises beautifully-appointed guest rooms, which are well equipped with modern amenities for added comfort and convenience. Guests can enjoy an energetic workout in the gym, followed by a refreshing swim in the pool. Guests are assured of a truly enjoyable stay at this hotel.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
This review will appear somewhat contradictory. Some parts of the holiday were great, other bits let it down.
The town and the beach were beautiful and clean, the sea was warm and there were lots of great places to eat and drink in both Cala Millor and Cala Bona which was a 15 minute walk away. I would recommend the area to anyone but not necessarily the Garden Hotel.
My wife and I have booked and enjoyed many all-inclusive holidays with Jet2. We have been to the Canaries and Greece but this was our first holiday together in The Balearics. Cala Millor Gardens is our worst experience and it really didn't need to be.
This really is a first world problem and I feel the hypocrisy of moaning that my vacation wasn't quite perfect boo hoo!!
The staff were brilliant and are unfortunate to be even mentioned in this review.
This is the first time my wife and I chose to venture into the heady world of upgrading to the premium service (at this hotel that is called 'select')
It was a waste of money, and quite uncomfortable at times. It offered nothing that the other all-inclusive guests recieved except towels really. The reserved area within the restaurant did offer table cloths and napkins, but we shared the same lukewarm food that was often not refilled and therefore not available. Breakfast was the best meal of the day but is not to be described as good. If you want a coffee after your evening meal you needed to leave the restaurant and bring it back in as the machines were unplugged. If you used the restaurant for lunch rather than the pool bar you needed to ensure you gave yourself enough time because the stood guard to deny drink refills toward 14:30 and turned the lights off and cleared the food.
Food at the pool bar was available from one hour after breakfast at 11am but only until 1pm. There was only 5 things available on the all-inclusive menu and the quality was poor. Much better quality food was available outside of these restrictions but needed to be purchased. One example of this was caesar salad, all-inclusive was leaves and Parmesan, if you wanted chicken this was €14 extra.
The rooms were very small, tired, and only offered 1 hanging rail and one drawer. So you need to live out of your suitcase. The bathroom was good.
Around the pool there are only 2 unisex toilets for approximately 300 guests and these quickly became dirty. Two further single sex toilets available in reception.
The entertainment staff were the best part of the hotel (Aly and Cassie) but the external evening entertainment was mediocre.
The was a 'selected' area that was behind a rope in reception. This can best be described as being like the bit you sit in waiting to be seen at Specsavers.
So all-in-all the resort/town is great. However I can not in good conscience tell you that the Garden hotel is the place to go. It could be good if some policy and managerial decisions were made.
Lovely hotel, great location. Staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. Overall we would recommend.
Rooms are very clean however need a shower screen not a shower curtain as the bathroom floor got very wet. Also the storage is poor. One drawer, a couple of shelves and some hangers. We would have liked a kettle in the room too.
We booked a massage which was very disappointing. The actual massage was dreadful and the room it was in had no ambience, it was very bright, there was no relaxing music playing. While laying on the couch I could see alot of hair on the floor under the couch, it looked like the couch isn't moved when the room is cleaned.
The outside bar had slices of fruit in containers for drinks these aren't covered and everytime we went to the bar there were flys and wasps walking all over the fruit !
Lovely friendly hotel with good food . Wine could be better but it wouldn't stop me coming back. Nice and close to beach and shops
Hotel is lovely a bit tired. Food is not a four-star hotel nor cocktails or drink drinks but the staff are amazing.
We are currently staying here and still have a few days left of our holiday, but unfortunately the experience so far has been extremely disappointing.
The biggest issue has been the overall standard of service. Since arriving, staff have generally come across as irritated or inconvenienced whenever they have to deal with guests. The atmosphere often feels unfriendly and unwelcoming, particularly in the restaurant, where you regularly get the impression staff are annoyed that you are there at all.
Our room also has several issues. The bathroom mirror is blown, there is a noticeable damp smell, and the shower floor actually feels spongy underfoot, which makes us concerned there may be rot or water damage underneath it. The beds are also very uncomfortable. More generally, the standard of cleanliness and upkeep throughout the hotel is poor — there are even names carved into the metal inside the lift.
The food has probably been the biggest disappointment. We booked all-inclusive but have now more or less stopped eating lunch and dinner here because the quality is so poor. The meat in particular has a very unpleasant texture. Last night, while sitting downstairs, we could hear other guests having the exact same conversation, with one woman saying she could barely eat the food here, so unfortunately it does not seem to be just us.
The alcohol is also very poor quality, and drinks are regularly served as half cups rather than anything resembling a normal serving. There are supposedly bar snacks available, but only between 11am and 1pm, which feels like a very limited window for an all-inclusive hotel.
What actually prompted me to write this review while we are still here was a call from Guest Experience last night. They phoned our room specifically to ask how our stay was going, so I explained the problems with the shower, damp smell and room. The response was simply that the phone line was bad and they could not hear me. I repeated myself, was told again that the line was bad, eventually said “never mind,” and the response was essentially “okay, great” before the call ended. It was a pretty perfect example of the overall service we have experienced.
Pool towels are also charged at €2 per day, which I personally think is poor for an all-inclusive hotel.
The pools themselves are extremely cold. I appreciate this is partly on me as I should have checked whether they were heated before booking, but even with temperatures around 30°C outside, very few people seem to actually get into them.
There are some positives. The location is excellent and very central, with everything on your doorstep. Our balcony is nice, we are on the top floor and can see the sea, the air conditioning is keeping the room reasonably cool, and there is filtered water available in the hallways. The other guests we have met have also been lovely, friendly and smiley.
But overall, I genuinely cannot understand the overwhelmingly positive reviews I read before booking. For the location, I would personally be much happier staying somewhere room-only or self-catering and simply eating and drinking out locally.
Unfortunately, this is not somewhere I would actively choose to stay again or recommend based on our experience so far.
