Sol Mirador de Calas

We had a wonderful stay at Alua Calas de Mallorca Resort and really enjoyed every moment. The views from the hotel are absolutely beautiful, especially overlooking the sea and the cliffs.

The food was delicious, with a very good variety of dishes, and everything we tried was fresh and tasty. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, which made the whole experience even better.

The rooms were clean, well maintained and very comfortable. In fact, the whole hotel felt clean, tidy and well looked after. The rooms were also surprisingly quiet. Even during the evening entertainment, once the doors and windows were closed, it was easy to relax and enjoy a peaceful night.

One of our favourite things was the beautiful walking route along the cliffs. The scenery is stunning, and the walk to the beach takes around 10 minutes on foot. It is a lovely route and makes the location feel even more special.

In terms of value for money, we felt the price was appropriate for the standard of the hotel, the facilities, the food and the overall quality of the stay.

Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and would definitely recommend this hotel. We would be very happy to come back again.

We have just returned from our holiday at Alua Calas de Mallorca, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing, predominantly due to how the hotel handled our accessibility and medical needs.

My partner has a life-limiting condition and I have complex medical needs of my own and the hotel knew that there was a carer coming with us who needed to be close for our safety, medication and care. This was not simply a matter of convenience.

Our accessible room had been guaranteed by the hotel a year in advance, yet when we arrived, we were told that this was not the case. Imagine not being able to use the bathroom or clean yourself for two weeks.

Even more concerning, yhe carer's room was placed six floors away from ours, instead of next to us or even on tge same floor. Given our medical conditions, having the carer close by was absolutely essential.

It then took four days before we finally got a suitable accessible room. During those four days, we experienced constant problems, questioning and stress. What should have been a relaxing holiday became an extremely upsetting and exhausting experience.

When we raised our concerns, the hotel manager got up in my partner's face and started shouting aggressively. He is blind, and when stating we were being discriminated against, she told him to not put words in her mouth. This was extremely upsetting, intimidating and literally not the case of what was being done.

We also weren't told until the actual day we were due to leave whether late checkout would be available. Given both mine and my partner's medical needs and how long our morning medical regimes take, this was important to us, and not knowing until the last minute made planning our departure very difficult.

Apart from the bar staff, who were genuinely genuinely lovely, we found most of our interactions with the hotel staff extremely disappointing.

We do want to give credit where it is due. Jet2 were absolutely brilliant throughout this whole situation. They supported us, listened to our concerns and fought with the hotel on our behalf. Even the Jet2 representatives said that dealing with the hotel was "like banging your head against a brick wall." That really summed up how difficult it was to get the hotel to properly address our concerns.

The hotel is in a lovely area, but it is also quite out of the way and isolated, with other places quite a distance away which if you don't drive or are refused the chance to travel on public transport together despite there being space does make things very difficult.

Most importantly, our holiday was completely ruined by all of these issues. Instead of being able to relax, enjoy ourselves and make memories, so much of our holiday was taken up with problems, questioning and stress.

Ultimately, it is the way the hotel treated us and handled our accessibility and medical needs means we would never stay at Alua Calas de Mallorca again and definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We are sharing our experience to make other people, particularly those with disabilities, life-limiting conditions or additional medical needs, aware of the difficulties we faced with this hotel.
