We stayed at Alua Leo and overall had a pleasant experience. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent, just a short walk from the beach and close to the airport.
The rooms were comfortable and well maintained, and the pool area was nice and relaxing. The breakfast offered a good variety of food, although the meat selection was a bit limited for dinner and lunch.
Overall, it is a good hotel for a relaxing holiday with good value for money.
Overall, the hotel was fine, but there were several small issues that made us feel it wasn’t worth the price we paid. The biggest disappointment was the mattress, which was old and badly worn out, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The room layout was also unexpected, as the bedroom and bathroom were in the same open space, which wasn’t clear from the photos and was inconvenient for us. In addition, the room door was poorly insulated, so a significant amount of light from the hallway came into the room at night. Finally, while the breakfast offered a good variety of food, it was often difficult to find a free table, many tables had not been fully reset, and the drink machine was frequently out of order.
The hotel's location is fantastic – just 10 minutes from the airport, making transfers quick and easy.
From the outside, the hotel may not look particularly impressive, but don't let that fool you. Inside, it was immaculately clean throughout, with every area maintained to a very high standard.
There was never a rush to secure a sunbed, and even during busier periods we were always able to find one. The pool bar was excellent, and a special mention goes to Antonio and Heidi, who were both fantastic.
The entertainment looked great, although it seemed a little underappreciated during our stay due to the World Cup football being on.
The area surrounding the hotel was brilliant, with plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. We also took the little tourist train from outside the hotel into El Arenal. While it was a bit too busy and lively for our taste, younger visitors would probably love the atmosphere.
The only aspect that might make me think twice about returning is the rooms, which were quite basic. It felt as though every available bit of space had been utilised, and even the communal toilets were on the small side. Storage was limited, and a few drawers in the bedside cabinets would have made a big difference. That said, you really only sleep in the room, and we were lucky enough to have a fabulous pool view.
Overall, we had a wonderful week here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The excellent location, cleanliness, facilities, and surrounding area far outweighed the few minor drawbacks, and I would happily recommend the hotel to others.
Writing We stayed at Alua Leo Hotel in June 2026 and had a very pleasant stay. The breakfast and dinner buffet offered a good variety of food, and everything we tried was tasty. The only thing we missed was paella, as we had expected to see this local specialty on the menu. Our room was clean and well maintained, although it could have been a little more spacious. We especially enjoyed the lovely terrace, the nice pool area, and the beautiful sea view. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in a convenient location.
I stayed here with my husband for a week at the end of June. It is a lovely hotel with a great location. It’s just a few minutes walk to the beach with some lovely little bars and restaurants and a short walk to the harbour. This was lovely in the evenings, especially. Our room was lovely, it seemed newly refurbished. It’s open plan so you can see the shower cubicle from the door, but there’s a sliding door to the toilet. The shower was very powerful and Aircon was very good. The only negative about the room is that there is very little storage. There are no drawers which is a shame as there is plenty of space. We stayed half board- The food was lovely, breakfast had a great choice and also evening meal plenty to choose from. Just a bit disappointed that we had to pay for a drink with your evening meal, even water and soft drinks were not free . It would’ve been nice even if the water was free. There was a great choice for lunch you can pay for very reasonable a choice of pizza, salad sandwiches, etc. The pool area was lovely and we always managed to get a sunbed even if we went down to the pool after 10 am. A bit disappointing that the pool did not open till 10 am as would’ve liked to use it earlierand the pool closed at 6 pm. There is one bar which is the same bar for inside and outside it was a little shortstaffed at times. There was some entertainment in the bar in the evening but it always seemed very quiet. I think a lot of people must’ve gone out to other bars restaurants in the evening. The Aircon in the bar area was not very good and often far too hot, so couldn’t sit in there for very long and the bar often closed by 11. The Aircon seem to work everywhere else okay though. I would recommend this hotel to anyone , perhaps not children as not much to do for them. It was also a very short drive from the airport which was great and never heard any planes. Overall, it was a lovely holiday.
