Fergus Style Tobago

We had an amazing stay at the Fergus Style Tobago and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better hotel for my wife’s 50th birthday.

A couple of weeks before travelling, I emailed the hotel to ask if there was any possibility of having a higher-floor room. We had already booked a sea-view room, but I thought I’d ask — and also mentioned that we were celebrating my wife’s 50th. They really did go the extra mile.

When we arrived, we found a complimentary bottle of Cava, a birthday cake and a lovely handwritten note waiting for us. We were also given a room on the 6th floor, with an absolutely stunning view. The room got the sun for most of the afternoon and into the evening, which was perfect as I could sit out and enjoy the sunshine while my wife got ready for us to go out. It was such a thoughtful touch and massively appreciated.

The room itself was clean and comfortable, the beds were really comfy and having a free safe was an added bonus. The balcony was also lovely for relaxing, even though we spent very little time in the room because there was so much to do!

Breakfast was also excellent. We particularly loved the huge selection of fresh fruit and nuts, as well as the continental options. There was also a great choice of omelettes made to order, and I noticed they had a full range of hot breakfast options too, including an English breakfast for those who prefer something more traditional. There was plenty of choice and everything we had was fresh and enjoyable.

The staff throughout the hotel were exceptional. We genuinely didn’t encounter a single member of staff who wasn’t friendly, welcoming and smiling. When we arrived there was heavy rain and everyone from the pool had headed inside, but the staff were rushing around making sure everyone was looked after. We managed to get a seat at the indoor bar, enjoyed some lunch and a drink, and before long the sun was back out.

We didn’t actually use the pool during our stay as we were usually out exploring or over at the beach, which is literally just across the road. The location is fantastic too, with loads of great restaurants within an easy walk. We particularly enjoyed the relaxed stroll along the promenade back to the hotel after dinner each evening.

For us, there really were no negatives. We had such a fantastic holiday celebrating my wife’s 50th, and the hotel played a big part in making it so special.

What a lovely hotel this is. I spent a week here with my 86 year old Mum and we loved it. It is really in Magaluf rather than Palma Nova though, but that didn’t affect us at all. The lovely beach was just across the road and the sea was safe and wonderful for swimming.

The room we had was on the small side and there is not much storage space but it was kept beautifully clean and this didn’t affect our holiday. The beds are amazingly comfy and the pillows were among the best I’ve had in hotels.

The staff, without exception, are wonderful. So friendly, cheerful and helpful and were so kind to my Mum. Carmen in the dining room deserves a special mention. My Mum wanted to take her home!

As for the food and drinks, I have nothing to say except it was all superb. High quality and everything beautifully prepared and presented.

The only downside for us was really the pool. It was very difficult for Mum to get out due to there only being steep ladders on the sides and my Mum’s leg are not as strong as they were. She only went in twice because of this. That said, there was a chair she could have used but she’s still too proud for aids of any kind!

Excellent service and welcoming staff. Fabulous sea view rooms. Food is excellent. Pool area is ok but sun loungers and parasols looking tired.
