JS Palma Plaza

We wanted to stay in a centrally located hotel in order to explore Palma and the wider area. Palma is a very busy city and you must remember Js Palma Plaza is a city centre hotel. In all honesty we didn’t find the noise excessive but we booked a room on a high floor after looking at recommendations on line. Our room was perfectly adequate size wise, shower was good and complimentary Rituals toiletries were a nice touch. To be honest we found the lighting in our room overly complicated. High level hooks for bath towels in the bathroom would be an improvement. Breakfast was very good, good quality coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, pastries, really good granola and ample choice from the hot menu which is cooked to order was really good value. We found that we didn’t need to eat again until the evening. The hotel gym and spa is really good which we used several times during our visit. Having stayed here for 14 nights so that we could explore the whole island we can honestly say that we would stay here again. There are some fantastic restaurants within walking distance in Santa Catalina which is quite a trendy area but the old town is walkable as is the main railway and bus station. Transport links are really good and it’s possible to explore even the more remote villages on public transport. We have fallen in love with the beautiful island of Mallorca.

Stayed for six nights mid-September. Hotel is clean and the Rituals toiletries are lovely. Unfortunately our room was two floors up at the front of the hotel overlooking an extremely busy and noisy road and an equally noisy children’s playground. The playground wouldn’t have been an issue if the local children actually went to bed at a reasonable time, but they were out there screaming until after 10.30pm and on one occasion 12.30am which is totally unacceptable. The dining experience was mixed. The waiting staff seemed to take ages to notice us, but seemed friendly enough. On one occasion we went down for lunch, only to find that all the tables were reserved for an event. The waitress did say there was a table free which we were seated at and promptly forgotten about! We sat there for about 25 minutes before giving up and walking into town. The so-called roof bar never had anyone attending it and people were having to go right back down to the ground floor to get drinks and food. Also the cushions on the furniture were dirty and some of them were ripped. The hotel itself is nice but no wow factor. The dining area seems to be a favourite meeting spot for elderly locals, so it is sometimes difficult to get a seat. The area surrounding the hotel seems dirty and covered in graffiti. It’s about a 20 minute walk into the city, with a good choice of shops and restaurants. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. Personally, I wouldn’t stay here again as it’s far too noisy and not relaxing,
