Iberostar Selection Playa de Palma

My wife and I have just spent a most enjoyable week at the Iberostar Playa de Palma hotel, Majorca. The room was excellent with a great view of the sea and coast. It was comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The food in the restaurant was outstanding. The swimming pool was very good and although many guests had an irritating habit of reserving sunbeds, it was usually possible to find two vacant beds. The hotel is splendidly located opposite a bus stop where it is possible to catch a bus for Palma, the Aquarium and the airport. However it is people who make the world go round and here this hotel also triumphs. All the staff we met were cheerful, friendly and helpful. On our arrival Valeriy greeted us with a very warm welcome and Felicity explained very clearly what we needed to know. She was also very helpful on future occasions when we enquired about 2027. Daniela was also very helpful when we enquired about room options for next year. Laura in the restaurant was most attentive, friendly and very efficient. We bumped into Jose on a number of occasions and he explained very clearly the best places to visit in Palma. Alessandro and Paula were also very helpful. Ana in the Spa provided us with an excellent massage. We both enjoyed the Spanish lesson given by Lukas and greatly appreciated his notes. Our overall impression was that all the staff enjoy working at the hotel and that they want to do their best to give the guests a great time, which is what we had. We have already booked a room for 2027!

Having read some of the previous reviews of this hotel, we almost cancelled our booking and decided to stay elsewhere. I’m so pleased we didn’t, as I honestly struggled to understand why some of the previous reviews were so negative.

We have fairly high standards and have stayed in some lovely hotels over the years, and we found this hotel to be lovely. Our room was clean and spacious, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the drinks were good. We also enjoyed the food and found there was a good choice.

There is also a lovely resident black cat at the hotel who is extremely friendly and caught the attention of many guests. We informed the hotel that he appears to have ear mites, and we hope they will take him to the vet and look after him. He was clearly very popular with guests, so hopefully the hotel will make sure he receives the care he needs .

The location is excellent — only around 10 minutes by taxi from Palma Airport. There is a long, sandy beach directly opposite the hotel, with beautiful turquoise water. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, so there is lots to do within walking distance.

We were surrounded by quite a lot of German guests during our stay, but this didn’t bother us at all. Taxis were also frequent and easy to get.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and were very glad that we decided not to cancel. Based on our experience, we would happily advise not to listen to the recent negative reviews.
