Hoposa Villaconcha Aptos

The hotel is perfectly placed for access to the Pine Walk and local beaches and restaurants. It is one of the cleanest and well maintained that we have ever stayed in. Mention must be made of the incredible staff the hotel employs. Firstly one of the reception staff Gabriel deserves high praise. I stupidly sat on my only pair of reading glasses and was lost without them. Gabriel rang a local optician, organised an immediate appointment and then ordered me a taxi to take me there. On arrival the optician managed to straighten the frames and replace the lenses. They also refused any payment. Holiday saved. Could management please acknowledge Gabriel’s fantastic Customer Care. Mention also to Aina who works in the bar and also helps out in the restaurant. She had a permanent smile on her face and was always helpful and hard working. While I single out 2 members of staff for individual praise, I can honestly say that from the cleaning staff to staff manning reception to those working in the bar and restaurant they are the best I have ever seen at the many hotels I have ever stayed in. Congratulations to everyone for making a memorable holiday.

TLDR: A great stay - clean and comfortable accommodation, great location, good facilities for either relaxing or being more energetic, would definitely recommend and stay again!

We loved our week at Villaconcha! It came recommended from a friend and didn't disappoint. We booked as a package through Jet2 Holidays and my only minor complaint would be that neither Jet2 or the hotel really had any information readily available e.g. opening times of facilities, bike hire costs, where things like the laundry are, bus timetables etc. It was all there if you went looking for it or asked at reception but no welcome pack in your room or noticeboards in reception. So here's what we found as it might help others!

Rooms - we had a 1 bedroom apartment and chose the self-catering option. The apartment was spacious with a good sized balcony and we enjoyed the view of the pool and people watching! The bedroom was spacious with plenty of room to separate the beds into a "proper" twin room. There was loads of storage in the wardrobes for clothes and suitcases. The kitchenette was very well equipped with an under counter fridge (with ice box), kettle, 2 ring hob, a microwave, coffee pod machine (nespresso I think) and filter coffee maker (no filters provided). The only negative was that the plates and bowls were really tiny!! Everywhere around the hotel was spotlessly clean and we never had any issues with noise. Despite us hanging up our towels to reuse as instructed on the bathroom sign, the cleaners still changed them daily.

Food - we went self catering and found the Euroski Central supermarket nearby to stock up on provisions for breakfast and lunch. It's about a half mile walk from the hotel and much cheaper than the 24/7 type supermarkets on the promenade. We also headed into Pollenca on Sunday morning for the local market and bought some fresh produce and bakery items there. The market at Port de Pollenca on Wednesday didn't have much food produce. We ate out locally every evening in Port de Pollenca apart from the evening we had the BBQ option at the hotel. This was lovely and offered much more choice than we were expecting. Book before 6pm and you get a free bottle of wine so at 58euro for 2 this was our cheapest meal and one of the nicest. Local restaurants are nice but we never found anything particularly special and everywhere seemed to serve similar menus. The bar by the pool opens for "snacks" 12-6 and then drinks only until 11pm but most evenings it was empty before then. You can also get your food to take back to your room. It would have been good to have a menu or sample menu for breakfast & dinner and prices displayed as it might have enticed us to eat in more.

Facilities - we chose this hotel because it offers sport facilities. To be honest, we were hoping there might be some organised activities e.g. gym classes but didn't see evidence of anything. The gym is small but well equipped and offers enough to get a decent workout in.
Pool towels are available reception and can be changed daily. We weren't charged for them (although I'd read they cost 10euro for the week). The semi olympic pool was lovely and never busy - at most we had 4 people in at once and it was often empty when we walked past. It's 1 euro per hour to use that pool and you need to wear a swim cap. The leisure pools are nice enough for a leisurely lap or two and deep (could be downside for non-swimmers just wanting to cool off but there's shallow seating bits in them too). We didn't have an issue getting sunbeds but there were very close together and there was some evidence of sunbed hogging - one afternoon the beds next to us had towels on for several hours but were never used. There's a kids splash pool which was a big hit with the toddlers and a small water slide for younger kids. There are lifeguards around all day but not watching the pools at all times which I found surprising given how deep they are. We enquired about hiring bikes in the attached bike shop "Clips" but to be honest, they didn't seem that interested in our custom and offered no advice on bikes or routes. Instead we hired 2 hybrid bikes for less than half at nearby 54eleven bike rental. We also saw someone had rental scooters for their kids which seemed like a genius idea to get them up and down the prom! The hotel "laundry" is 2 washing machines and 2 tumble driers at the back of bike store. Free to use and powder available from reception if you need it. Balconies have a good sized clothes airer but can it be breezy so bring a few pegs! There's a changing room and showers by the olympic pool that we used on our last day because we had a late departure. Allegedly there's a wellness spa and sauna but I'm not even sure if they were open when we were there (comes back to that thing about no info unless you ask reception).

Location - the hotel is located on a quiet street just a short walk from the promenade and beach. The bus stops are a similar distance in the opposite direction. The town was lovely, it felt touristy but also local at the same time! As two females we never felt vulnerable or were harassed in any way. The nearest bus stops are Gotmar 1 (heading towards Palma, Pollenca and Cap de Fermentor) and Gotmar 2 (heading towards Alcudia). Timetables are on www.tib.org.uk You can pay by contactless card on the bus and if you pay for more than 1 person it offers a discounted fare for the 2nd and subsequent people. Also tap off the bus at your destination. All buses we used had screens on displaying the next stop. If you wish to do any excursions e.g. boat trips, kayak tours etc I would advise booking well ahead as we found things we either cancelled due to a lack of numbers or already fully booked. Kayak Mallorca are based on the beach (turn left along the prom) and there are a number of boat tour operators based at the harbour (head towards Stay restaurant).
