Gran Tacande Wellness and Relax

We were a family of three. Our son flew over separately to join us. We booked a suite and he booked a deluxe room. I emailed the hotel prior to arriving to ask if they could put us near each other and they did exactly that which was very much appreciated. The rooms are very spacious. We had a whirlpool bath in the room which was great to use very evening after a day of sunbathing. The hotel is beautiful, relaxed and exceptionally clean. There were two pools and we never had a problem getting sun beds, however there were the usual suspects who were up at crack of dawn to get their spot in the sun not thinking that maybe someone else would like that spot. Putting towels down then walking away until later that morning. It is quite selfish to be honest but we did get sun beds every day of our stay, Sad to say they were mostly British doing this and it was the men.!! It did spoil the ambience especially at breakfast when all you could see was a lot of beds with towels on. We stayed at a hotel in Los Gigantes in June and their policy was no reserving of sun-beds until 10am and only for a maximum of two hours. After that your belongings were removed. If you did put your towel on a bed before then you had to physically lie on it or again the lifeguard removed it. That system worked excellently because it allowed everyone to get breakfast then wander down to the pool and get a bed. When we arrived at the hotel we were told no reserving of sun beds but it wasn’t policed. The staff here are amazing very friendly and always service with a smile that’s one of the reason we will go back. Location perfect for restaurants and the beach. Short walk down to the front, when leaving left out of the hotel at the back via the gate there are lots of shops and restaurants and bars, turn to the right and there are a few more up market restaurants to choose from. We were half board. The food is very good but the same most evenings as is the breakfast. We ate out three times twice to the right of the hotel near del duque beach and once up the hill from the hotel near where the market is. All very good indeed. We used the spa which is €17 Euros per person. We had a very good relaxing time in there. It is worth a visit. There is a roof top bar with amazing views and it is worth a visit. Overall we had a very relaxed holiday. We said we wouldn’t go back to Tenerife after having been there twice this year but after staying at this hotel we would definitely go back to it and plan to return next year.

We choose the Tacande primiarily for its pools and location to a very nearby sandy beach. The main pool is excellent, as are its featured pools. Pool sunbeds look on the verge of a general refresh, but towels are good. Rooms are overall average, verging on a need for a refresh. We had to chase for coffee/milk for the machine. Considering we stayed in a suite, the nicer touches were missing. Breakfast is average, at best, although the staff are good. We suspect the main problem is either bored management, with a lack of imagination, and/or the Tacande has a classic case of Bean Counteritis. Either way, for a 5 Star rating.....hmmm....me thinks not. Would we come back, absolutely, but not at the prices as its now moved to not being value for money.

Visited many times but 1st time back in 3 years and didn’t disappoint. Had our usual relaxing stay. Comfortable room, great breakfast and excellent poolside sunbeds with friendly waiter service. Reasonably priced for the standard Will be back 5⭐️
