We’ve just finished a 10-night, half-board stay at Hovima La Pinta with our 9-year-old daughter, and it exceeded our expectations. Every member of staff was warm, helpful, and genuinely accommodating. A very particular shoutout to Georgia in the kids’ club—she went above and beyond to make our daughter feel so special during the daytime activities and evening entertainment. We're already looking at prices for next year! A few highlights from our stay:
Overall, we had an incredible holiday and we’re already counting down the days until we can come back.
Overall this is an excellent hotel which is ideal for families, especially those with younger children. This was our 2nd time staying here, with our daughter partner & grandchildren (1.5yrs and 5yrs). Room apartments are well equipped with bathroom shower and kitchen area and living room area. There is WiFi throughout although our experience of WiFi is that it was patchy and unavailable in the bedroom of our apartment. We went with their all inclusive package so breakfast, lunch and evening emerald, all buffet style. You can swap one night to their à la carte restaurant which we didn’t do this time. Food varied a little each evening with a themed food station outside. There is entertainment each day, with poolside activities and kids club activities during the day and mini disco for children followed by a show each evening. Staff very welcoming and very good service. We’ve stayed twice as a larger family group and I think our daughter is already planning a 3rd stay. Highly recommended. It’s about 30 minutes taxi or direct transfer from Tenerife south airport. The locality is well served by shops, supermarkets, easy access to beach (literally step outside hotel and the beach is there). Taxi stop is virtually outside so all within easy reach.
We recently finished a two-week stay at HOVIMA La Pinta. As this was an expensive holiday, we arrived with high expectations, and while there were many things we loved, there were also some issues that made us question whether the overall experience — particularly the Excellence upgrade — was worth the premium price.
The beachfront location is excellent, and the wristband room keys worked brilliantly, giving the whole family great freedom. The air conditioning was also fantastic, cooling the living room and both bedrooms perfectly.
The dinner buffet was very good, with plenty of variety, although it naturally became a little repetitive over two weeks.
The pools were lovely, clean and a good temperature, although sunbeds were difficult to come by and we occasionally had to share one.
The evening children's entertainment was excellent, and although our children are a little older and didn't use the kids' clubs, the entertainment team were fantastic. The poolside activities and daytime entertainment were also consistently high quality.
Unfortunately, we weren't happy with the first or second rooms we were offered at check-in and settled on a third. This was because neither room matched what we had expected from the booking. One had only one bathroom and a split balcony (separating the family outside) while the other had one small balcony at the front and an internal-style balcony at the back, neither of which was large enough for our family to sit outside together. Some lifts were also out of order, meaning we had to repeatedly use the stairs while viewing different rooms in intense heat. Given the circumstances, despite their helpfulness, being offered a drink of water at reception would have been a welcome gesture.
We also found the website potentially misleading regarding the Excellence 2-bedroom rooms. They are not consistent, with some having internal balconies and others having only one bathroom instead of two. This makes it difficult to know exactly what you're paying for when booking.
Housekeeping staff clearly work hard, but there were a few minor lapses, including missed towels and one day when one of the beds wasn't made. The apartments would also benefit from having basic cleaning products and a sweeping brush available.
The Excellence benefits were somewhat disappointing. Our promised bathrobes and slippers were missing on arrival and took two requests to resolve, while coffee capsules weren't replenished daily. Overall, we don't feel the Excellence upgrade was necessarily worth the additional cost, as the extra benefits didn't consistently feel premium enough to justify the price.
Dinner also had a few quirks, with wine needing to be requested at the table and tea and coffee not being available at dinner, only breakfast. There are plenty of staff and the place runs efficiently despite how busy it can get at times.
Overall, it is a lovely hotel and we did enjoy our stay, particularly the sea view. The location, entertainment, pools and food are all positives.
However, when paying a premium price — and especially for an Excellence upgrade — we expected a more consistent and polished experience.
Standardising the room descriptions, improving the check-in process and addressing the service and maintenance issues would make a big difference.
Really good family hotel for a good relaxing time. From the moment we stepped in we felt like all the staff were there for us. Room was clean and nice.
