Like a precious jewel in an idyllic setting, the Luxurious 5-star Boutique Hotel Royal River will open its doors on May 1, 2020.
Located in the most privileged area of the south of Tenerife, this exclusive Adults Only Resort of 50 villas with swimming pool is charmed with 3 spectacular views: the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean on the right, the green of the Costa Adeje golf course in front and the silhouette of the mountains and the Roque del Conde on the left.
Its elegant architecture and the originality of its contemporary design, together with the masterful use of natural materials from the island, make this luxury hotel a unique reference in the Canary Islands.
In its facilities, there are 29 River Suites surrounded by two large pools-river; a central pool with Cocoon loungers and tropical palm trees; 17 villas with private pool and 4 luxurious stilt houses on a lake with turquoise waters.
In order to enrich this experience of relaxation and romance, the Royal River has an infinity pool in the hotel's solarium to enjoy magnificent sunsets, a Spa with a thermal cave inspired by a Mexican cenote and a Hamman for beauty therapies inspired by Arab culture.

Limited food and restaurants.
This is a return visit. We were hoping the food situation would have changed, it hasn’t and neither has the limited menu. Do not pay for half board if you would like variety. How a hotel of this size can only offer one restaurant open each evening and have the same menu is very disappointing. Italian tasting menu was at best ok.. The grounds and villas are beautiful and I feel they trade on this and the staff who are exceptional. Royal River you really do let yourself down with your limited food menus and only one bar and restaurant open each evening. We will not be returning .

Excellent but…..
This hotel did not disappoint. The room was immaculate and well appointed. The blackout blinds (electric opening) were awesome, the room was pitch black at night and it was so very quiet that combined with an outrageously comfy bed, we had some seriously good sleeps!
The swims down the river and the outdoor jacuzzi were particular highlights.
Breakfast was great and the Italian tasting menu was very, very good! I can’t comment on the quality of other meals as we did not eat at the hotel after this but my assumption is they would be equally good.
The place is kept spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff were all amazing, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I didn’t get the name of the gentleman on reception but we booked a private boat trip through him and he was there most days and he was extremely helpful.
There is one ‘but’ though which irritated me daily. This is a 5 star hotel and you get a 5 star experience for sure, however, the drinks are absurdly expensive. You’re a bit of a captive audience as there is nowhere really close to go out for a few drinks unless you get a taxi into La Caletta. I urge management to review their drinks prices and mini bar prices.
All in all, it was excellent and we very much enjoyed our holiday here and would highly recommend this hotel but be warned about the Sri is and mini bar prices.

Best avoided
Great if you enjoy the noise and disruption of being in a building site. Stayed here on a Jet2.com indulgent escape in June. There was no prior notification from either the hotel or Jet2 about the significant renovation work being carried out all day everyday in the hotel. Both very noisy and an eyesore. Hotel Manager promised me that compensation would be due for the £7500 holiday that was disrupted - 3 months later Jet2 got in touch to say they are offering nothing. Please avoid this hotel as they clearly have a problem with honesty.

A hidden paradise
My Fiancé and I booked 5 nights at the Royal River this August to treat ourselves before we returned back to our jobs in education. We booked a river villa as we had stayed in a hotel in Bali with a very similar pool that we adored. We had incredibly high hopes and were not disappointed at all by our stay. We were met with a friendly greeting and a cold glass of cava each as we checked in and then given all the details on where to go and what to see in the resort. We were taken to our room and given a tour by a lovely member of staff and shown all the ins and outs of our beautiful, beautiful villa. The room had everything we could have needed including a fully stocked minibar, huge dressing room, super-comfy bed and access to the whatsapp chat with the hotel where they catered for our every need. The terrace had more seating options than we had bums for and our rooftop solarium was a gorgeous touch (this happened to be an amazing addition as my now-fiance proposed to me there at sunset). When we left our villa to sample the restaurants , we were treated to gorgeous food and cocktails with spectacular views of the surrounding golf courses and mountains. I would highly recommend the tasting menu at Flamingo. Our favourite pool (outside of our river pool) was the infinity pool at the top of the resort. Breakfast was sensational, the food was refreshed constantly and the food quality was top notch. We were served quickly and the staff were always there to assist with any requests and nothing was too much trouble. The whole look of the hotel was highly professional, the attention to detail was out of this world and aesthetically stunning. I commented on the cleanliness often, there was not a speck of dust in sight. The Spa was a beautiful place to while away a couple of hours and again, the surroundings were unreal. We are already looking forward to returning, maybe to celebrate an anniversary in the future.

This hotel is absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The hotel itself is beautiful, but what truly made our stay special was the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, professional, and attentive.
The service was exceptional, and we genuinely felt valued and well taken care of throughout our entire stay. You can really feel the passion and dedication of the whole team.
Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable. Thanks to you, I’m definitely planning to come back to Europe often! I can’t wait to return and experience this amazing place again.
