- Arenas Del Mar Hotel

You're just 900 metres from the centre of El Medano, and you're right on the seafront too. In other words, when you stay at the Arenas del Mar Hotel you're absolutely perfectly placed for a fabulous holiday in one of Tenerife's most popular spots. And what about that beach… it's one of the most impressive stretches of beach in the whole of Tenerife. It really is amazing: beautifully black sands that stretch as far as the eye can see, bordered by the irresistible blue of the Mediterranean.
The Arenas del Mar Hotel has certainly earned its four stars and its incredible reputation. People flock to El Medano for that beach and that wonderful weather. And for anyone who's stayed there, the Arenas del Mar Hotel is just as much of a draw.
The views are outstanding, and its position on the seafront within easy reach of both town and beach is unrivalled. But location isn't everything. The Arenas del Mar Hotel is so enduringly popular because it's such a smart, modern hotel with fantastic amenities.
Just wait till you see the pool. Fringed by recliners and a wave of trees, – and then by the beach itself; there's something so much more exhilarating about swimming with the unmistakable scent of the fresh sea air in your nostrils.
Whatever you do, don't forget that there's an indoor pool too. Part of a wonderful recreation suite, with the superb spa facilities available*, you really could spend a lot of time here. Floor length windows let in loads of that wonderful light, and bring out the gorgeous colours in this little haven of peace and tranquillity. Please note the recreation suite is open to Adults only.
One of the really nice things about the Arenas del Mar Hotel is that sense that whatever you might hope for, the reality is better. The guests' rooms are a good example. Bigger and better than most hotel rooms, the standard rooms are actually junior suites. So there are double beds as standard, and plenty of room for you to relax and unwind.
All rooms come with a wonderful balcony – well, you really do want to make the most of those incredible views. They also satellite plasma TV and phone, room safe and minibar. Sea view rooms are also available.
The Arenas del Mar Hotel is choc-full of amenities too, ranging from its own internet cafe and shop, to a TV lounge and all sorts of activities. With a restaurant, cafe and pool bar as well, this really is one of those hotels that you could quite happily luxuriate in for a week or more.
The Arenas del Mar Hotel in El Medano is a tourist hotspot. Some are drawn by its wonderful beaches; but some – those who've been before and stayed at the Arenas del Mar Hotel – can't resist another stay at the region's premier four star facility.

The 4* Arenas del Mar is situated on the seafront in El Medano, just 900 metres from the centre. It is an ideal choice for a relaxing holiday with stunning views of the ocean and a fantastic array of amenities including an outdoor swimming pool, entertainment area, bars and a superb modern spa at a fee. La Jaquita Beach, a black sandy beach is close to the hotel.
Unfortunately, I would not rate this hotel as 4 star. I’ll start with the good points. The reception staff working at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The lady who worked in the beach bar was lovely and welcoming. Looking at the hotel, it looks ok to start with. However, when you’ve been there a few days you start to notice things that are not so good. The biggest let down for me was the pool area. There’s no shaded cover so if you want to put the umbrella up for shade you can’t because the lifeguard says no it’s too windy. The furniture is in one word rubbish and even the one lifeguard said that to me when I showed him my sun lounger was broken and missing a screw. I had to move to another lounger which was fine but then started to notice after days of being there. Half of the sun beds are broken when you check them. I spent half my time having to move round to different parts of the pool trying to seek shade because there was no shade. The parasols they have there are useless because they don’t stand wind so why have them. Maybe invest in some proper furniture that can. In fact, day 5 of my holiday all of them had been taken away by the lifeguard . The pool area was not cleaned properly at all. For about four days there were cigarette ends left right by where the pool is, which is really off putting. The pool area was just dirty and when I watched the cleaners cleaning in the morning, they did half a job. As for the food, some food did not look cooked properly. I went to have the prawn salad but when I looked at the prawns they were partly blue so definitely not cooked properly. Food was very much the same everyday. I had to stick to foods that didn’t look like they would give me food poisoning. In the end, I did go out and have food at local restaurants which the food was great. You had to pay one euro for a plastic cup for the pool side cup for you holiday, which is something I’ve never heard of until I came here. You couldn’t use the safe because you had to pay for a key to lock it, which when I’ve stayed in 3 star hotels they have been free. The spa towels weren’t the best either, the first day I had one, it looked as though there was something brown on the towel, so dread to think what it was. The spa which was shown on the hotel booking was shown as been part of the holiday was not free and apparently cost 15 euros for two hours. The reason I booked the holiday was because it was showing it as part of the holiday. I was all inclusive so would expect to be at least able to use that facility but not unless wanted to pay 15 euros for two hours. At the end of this holiday, I am struggling to see why this hotel is rated as a 4 star hotel… The people who run this hotel really need to rethink what they are doing because after staying at this hotel, I will not be returning as it’s probably one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. To rate this as 4 star is not good enough. I feel that the hotel is cutting corners on what they do and it really shows.
Staff asked to clean my room, to which i said yes, she pulled a face as she expected me to say no! Unwelcoming vibe from the cleaners. Food was below average, this should be a 3 star hotel on a good day.
Would not recommend to anyone.. food was lukewarm at best.. not much choice at all and practically the same for lunch and dinner. carrots and peas served for breakfast with green beans and rice not so sure what that’s about..? The fruit was also mouldy at breakfast times which put me off eating any of the fresh fruit..We ate out a lot to avoid the cold food which defeated the purpose of all inclusive. All inclusive drinks are limited, two choice of largers spirits and that’s practically it. Hotel itself was clean and the rooms were too. However house cleaning come along and take dirty towels but then you don’t receive clean replacements for 2 hours at least.. which is annoying upon returning after being away wanting a shower. Staff were miserable and didn’t seem to want to help. The only staff who were friendly and polite were the reception staff who couldn’t do enough. 90% of the sun loungers are broken an absolute nightmare to find one that is working. The pool itself was nice but insanely salty. Arenas del mar is insanely windy too. So don’t expect to be sat in the sun without things going flying.. there is nothing around the hotel unless u want to walk 20 minutes into the closest town.. the spa is nice however it needs renovating and some money put into it. The pool is warm but the jacuzzi was cold and only 1 jet working.. defeats the object of a jacuzzi. The member of staff in the spa was lovely really friendly however. Would I stay here again? No. Would I recommend it to anyone? No.
Outside appearance of hotel looks like something from the goulags. Inside is pleasant and clean with friendly polite staff. For an all inclusive stay the Hotel was let down by the following: Nowhere to get a tea / coffee or soft drink between 10am and 12:30pm apart from the small poolside bar which gave you a small paper cup. Having to pay 1 euro for a plastic beaker when drinking near the pool. Charge for in room safe which was key operated. No free bottled water and told you can get refills from the drinks machines which were only available in the breakfast room during opening times. Room cleaning was poor cups were left dirty. We arrived back to our room after lunch only to find the door wide open and two maintenance guys fixing a balcony light that wasn't broken and that we hadn't reported. Restuarant partially closed off with only one drinks machine operational. On a positive the food was generally fair to good. If you like to go all inclusive I would avoid this hotel as it is not value for money. Needless to say we won't be returning. Suggest the hotel owners / managers sit down and take a good look their vision for the future.
Location is very quiet which we knew.
No atmosphere.
We had a junior suite 9/10 looked over the ocean.
Value 5/10
Hotel was clean all over.
Noise level was fine.
Front desk staff were fantastic.
Food.... was terrible, warm at best, we ate out quite a lot which detracted from being all inclusive.
We will never stay here again.
Room cleaning was hit and miss
Very windy around pool (understandable), sand gets everywhere, nearest beach is quite rocky in the water, take towel pegs so they don't blow away.
Paid trips will be cancelled if not enough people want to go, hard to plan if this happens.
