Honeymoon 2026 This was the most perfect and idyllic resort I’ve ever been to. From start to finish, we were wowed by everything. The retreat rooms were spacious, clean, amazingly stocked up. The beds were so comfy and the views were out of this world. The facilities were stunning and above all else were exactly what we had hoped for and more. What made this honeymoon even more special was the efforts all the staff went to, to make it truly magical and memorable. Francisco who works in the retreat and Fernanda who works for the guest services went above and beyond to make our time special. They added some beautiful additional experiences to commemorate our honeymoon and these actions brought my wife to tears (happy tears). She said she’s never experienced luxury like this before. It was just the most perfect honeymoon. The restaurants on site were incredible and we just enjoyed the peace and quiet and stunning views. Thank you for the wonderful food, company and hospitality. Thank you ritz staff! You truly are wonderful! We hope we can come back again! X
We have been staying at The Abama since 2018 and continue to return because of the setting and most importantly, the exceptional service we have experienced over the years.
Unfortunately, this visit got off to a disappointing start. We arrived at lunchtime and were happy to spend time at The Retreat while waiting for our room. However, communication around our room readiness was poor and when we were finally advised that the room was ready, it was a room further out from the pool so not as expected. This led to several hours of further waiting and being moved between different locations, creating a frustrating and loss of first afternoon. After travelling, it was not the welcome we had come to expect from The Abama.
That said, following our initial feedback, the management team reached out and listened to our concerns, working hard to recover the situation. We appreciate the personal attention and genuine efforts made to put things right during the remainder of our stay, which went a long way towards restoring our confidence in the resort.
There are also a few wider changes worth noting. The Retreat experience did not feel quite the same as in previous years. The tapas-style snack offering appears to have been reduced, with previous paella and hot options no longer available. Access and opening times also seemed more restrictive, with certain restaurants closed due to renovation work, meaning there was less opportunity to enjoy the facilities as we have in the past. This seems to be a pattern around May/early June time as this is the 2nd time that restaurants have not been open during our visit so worth bearing in mind and checking with the team before booking.
Despite these changes and the disappointing arrival experience, we still enjoyed our time there. The resort is tranquil and the accommodation is excellent.
Faultless! Exceeded all my expectations. Great location, gorgeous beach. Staff very attentive and so polite and caring. I couldn't recommend more for a beautiful spotlessly clean and fabulous relaxing holiday. Thank you!
My wife and myself have just returned from a fantastic six nights at this wonderful hotel, we stayed in a retreat room in lane seven and experienced very friendly and excellent service from check in until we checked out. As retreat guests we had drinks provided all day around the pool both alcoholic and soft drinks and coffee, a light lunch was provided by the infinity pool with something different every day. We dined at the hotel on four of the six nights that we stayed all in different restaurants and every meal excellent. When it sadly became time to leave we requested a late check out which was kindly provided without any problem. I would be very happy to recommend this hotel to anyone with full confidence. My wife and myself are fortunate enough to stay in many wonderful hotels around the world but without any doubt this hotel is one of the best we have stayed at and are already looking at dates for next year and will definitely be returning. Thank you to everyone at the Ritz carlton for a wonderful stay.
We have just returned from a week’s stay at the Ritz-Carlton Abama with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend, and overall we had a fantastic holiday.
First of all, the hotel is absolutely stunning. Everywhere is immaculately clean, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and the pool areas are spotless with plenty of space to relax. The beach is also beautiful and definitely worth spending some time at. Most of the staff were excellent – friendly, welcoming and always happy to help, which really made a difference to our stay.
The only real disappointment was the cost of food and drinks. We expected the hotel to be expensive, but the prices were on another level – more like what you’d expect to pay in Dubai than Tenerife. On top of that, the restaurant menus were quite limited, so after a few days we found ourselves wanting a bit more choice.
Breakfast was very good quality, but it became quite repetitive over the course of the week. A few extra options, such as proper English bacon and even something as simple as salad cream, would have been appreciated.
Another area that could be improved is the evening entertainment. The hotel is very quiet at night, and there wasn’t much going on after dinner. If you’re looking for a bit more atmosphere, I’d definitely recommend jumping in a taxi to Playa San Juan. We discovered some fantastic restaurants there, with Mar Sala being the highlight of our trip. India Gate on the seafront was also excellent and well worth a visit.
I also played the Abama Golf Course, which was in fantastic condition and a real pleasure to play. However, just like the hotel, both the green fees and the clubhouse prices are very expensive.
Overall, we had a wonderful holiday and would happily return. The hotel itself is beautiful, the facilities are first class and the staff work incredibly hard. If the food and drink prices were a little more reasonable, the breakfast had a bit more variety and there was more entertainment in the evenings, this would easily be a 5-star review.
