Surrounded by a lush vegetation, offering a real paradise retreat, this fantastic resort enjoys an idyllic location on the banks of Los Cristianos bay, overlooking the old fishing port and La Gomera Island. Shopping venues are located roughly 500 m from the hotel and public transport departs from a stop that lies just 600 m away. Guests may spend the day on the beach, practicing some water sports, or soak up the sun at one of the three swimming pools, while sipping a refreshing drink or a delicious cocktail from the pool bar. Before preparing for dinner, travellers may want to relax in their comfortable rooms, while watching the TV or enjoying a stunning lateral or front sea view. Guests may not leave the resort without visiting the wellness area and try some of the treatments on offer such as a relaxing massage or body wraps. Other facilities include a piano bar, a varied entertainment programme and a fantastic sauna where visitors may enjoy some relaxing moments.
Check in was quick and easy and we could access our room immediately which was great. We were on the Up package and found the food and drink good although it became quite repetitive . This additional cost works out quite expensive but we could see that a sunbed around he main pool would be an issue. Sunbeds were readily available on UP area but we would have liked an air conditioned area to eat comfortably in. The shaded areas outside were stifling and you could not leave your food unattended for a minute due to the birds. Most of the staff were friendly and pleased to serve you with only a few exceptions. It was however very off putting to have people(mainly large hairy men) entering the food areas with only their swimwear. Very unhygienic and although there were signs no member of staff approached them to put on clothes before they could squeeze up against the buffet. The entire hotel is beautifully laid out and very well presented. Entertainment was reasonable and the restaurant was never too busy and all food was piping hot and constantly refreshed. We were on the top floor and had an excellent young cleaner who I think was called Junaid( or something close). She did a superb job and never once disturbed us. We enjoyed the included massage and therapy steam session although nothing was explained to us about using the circuit. We had an issue with the flooring but it was dealt with by reception successfully as I felt customer satisfaction was very important to them. The market on Tuesdays and Saturdays is right next door but very claustrophobic due to the heat. Los Christianos was a quieter resort than Las Americas and it took about 25 minutes to walk there. Air conditioning was set in the rooms but we would have preferred it cooler. We visited the a la carte restaurant but the vegetarian dishes wer simply taken from the buffet so not really a different menu. This restaurant was deserted when we ate there so we probably would not recommended it. There was a mixture of age groups but most were in the older age span although this had no impact on our enjoyment. Reception has the wow factor upon entering and the hotel rightly deserves its stars. Immaculately clean throughout with beautiful furnishings in all areas.
Why does management NOT respond to negative reviews of the Arona????
Had a fantastic holiday here. 4th time at this hotel. Entertainment staff are brilliant. Friendly and helpful. Food is fantastic and there is always something to eat, even for the most pickiest of eaters. Waiters are always pleasent and go out of there way to help you. Rooms are always clean and tidy and the bar staff are really good day and night. Entertainment is basic hotel, but occasionally you have one that about knocks your socks off, queen tribute band and Kapital Acrobatics where outstanding.
What can we say, from the warm welcome of the reception staff,to the friendly and helpful cleaners all very good. The Animation and fitness team need a special mention they are so much fun from the excercise classes to the game playing animation team, darts, quizes etc all well presented to us guests. we could not ask for more. The restaurant was in my eyes first class with variations every night, the waiters and waitresses were excellant. We WILL return
After a trouble free flight with Jet2, we arrived at the Arona Gran for the fourth time. We were signed in by Roberto and after some deliberation we were allocated room 163. This disappointed us as we had paid for a sea view and had requested a high floor but this room had a great view of the Jarria restaurant! Overnight we had a visitation from 2 cockroach which my wife was not amused with. The following morning we went to the front desk and saw Amanda who got us moved to the second floor with a wonderful sea view. As usual the food was plentiful and varied. We were ably assisted by Clemens, Carmen and Jessica with great assistance by the ubiquitous Esperanza! We were always able to get an outside table for breakfast and we met up with my brother and his wife for our evening meal. We didn’t use the sunbeds but the beds were policed and towels and belongings were removed by the pool guy before 10AM. Entertainment was pretty good with Queen, Elton John, Al Cafone and William Mangion and Arthur Peterson the best of the main bands but the stand out band was Gotramusic. However I would like to mention Dale Phillip, Claudio and Monika as excellent warm up acts. The bar staff ably marshalled by Andrea and Soto were once again brilliant. The hotel was once again up to expectation and we had a great fortnight. We have booked again to return for the fifth time in September 2026 and are looking forward to coming back to this brilliant hotel. See you soon Arona Gran
