The bustling, vibrant Playa de las Americas is one of Tenerife's most popular resorts. It's got the sun and the sand, all the sights to see and views to snap, all the shops by day and entertainment by night. No wonder that people are drawn here – and to hotels like the Columbus Aparthotel. Like Playa de las Americas, the Columbus Aparthotel has got it all. All the amenities, all the facilities, and all the high standards you'd expect of one of the region's most popular hotels.
When you're a mere 800 metres from the beach, you know you're going to be spending a lot of time there. And that's just one of the perks of staying at the Columbus Aparthotel. Another is your close proximity to the heart of Playa de las Americas, and all that it has to offer including shops, bars and restaurants, and of course, the nightlife (Plays de las Americas is famous for it). But the Columbus Aparthotel is much more than a base for dipping in and out of the action. There's more than enough to keep you entertained…
One of the biggest features of the Columbus Aparthotel is undoubtedly the superb arrangement of swimming pools. Divided into distinct sections, the pool 'complex' is a beautiful design feature as well as a great place to spend a few hours… maybe even a long afternoon, drifting into evening.
That's another wonderful thing about the Columbus Aparthotel – the very laidback attitude to life. Outside in Playa de las Americas, it's all hustle and bustle, but here in the grounds of the Columbus, it's all long afternoons by the pool and long cool drinks. And talking of relaxing. Do check out the sauna and Jacuzzis. There's still plenty more to the Columbus Aparthotel: a handy on-site mini market, laundry facility and games room for example. The Columbus Aparthotel also benefits from generously sized rooms – and larger rooms (with lounges) are available if you wish. Satellite TV is also available for a small fee.
Choose the Columbus Aparthotel and you'll enjoy all the excitement of Plays de las Americas and the laidback vibe of the Columbus Aparthotel. It's the perfect combination.
The popular Columbus Aparthotel is enviably located in the bustling beach resort of Playa de las Americas, just 800 metres from the beach and close to many shops, restaurants and bars. The main restaurant offers a variety of international cuisine whilst the bar is the perfect place to relax overlooking the pool.
Stayed here and we got the all inclusive package and a standard room. As we were waiting for our room we went to the bar by reception and asked for a cocktail menu, to which the staff said that there was no cocktail menu and that there are only 2 cocktails included in the all inclusive, one of them being sex on the beach every single day, and then the other one changes daily. This was a shock to us as we paid a lot of money to have all inclusive, and was not expecting to have to pay €6 each every time we wanted a pina colada. Also no ciders/ breezers, slushies, etc were on the all inclusive either!!! This was such a shame for us as it limited our options and expectations. That being said, spirits were included on the all inclusive so we ended up having malibu and coke a lot of the time. Beware they also have a rule where you have to pay one euro in cash (each person) to get a plastic cup which you return every time for a new one then at the end of your stay you give the cups back and get your euro deposit back. (so make sure u bring euros as we didn’t)
In addition, the food hall was quite repetitive and there wasn’t a fat lot of choice to choose from.
The room was basic but spotless when we arrived, and everything worked, with good air con, comfy bedding, a powerful shower and a good size balcony. Maids were very quick at changing bedding, mopping floors and did a speedy job, including changing our towels.
You also have to pay for a safe if you want one, which was €25, and then you get €10 at the end of the stay if you return the key.
We saw some reviews before attending here, moaning about the noise, and yes, it’s not silent, but it didn’t disturb us (on nights where we didn’t go out) however you should expect some noise as the hotel is surrounded by bars nearby and the strip is only a short walk away, so there are going to be people coming back late at night / early hours of the morning.
Lastly, we found the location to be spot on, and couldn’t have chosen a better area. Across the road is a supermarket, and a mercadona nearby, and the strip was a short walk which was great, and there were also plenty of bars in walking distance too.
This is a 3 star hotel and some reviews are very harsh .Yes it can be a bit lively but we all did are first boys/girls holidays so give them a break.Food not bad ,Rooms dated but OK ,Staff ok hard working but not the most helpful .Location excellent and value for money Very good.If you go on holidays just to pull them apart pay for 5 star and not expect perfection from a 3 star hotel .I visit Las Americas 2/3 times a year and will be visiting this hotel again in November if I geta good deal.
I read the reviews of this hotel and was dreading it , Myself and my partner stayed for 7 nights here, room was clean and tidy , Fresh towels everyday, room cleaned everyday, Pool area was lovely with plenty of sunbeds - did not need to participate in sunbed wars Balcony was lovely , spacious with a table and chairs , Beds very comfy with extra pillows provided , Was not loud of a night , however did not sleep in past 8am due to how loud it was in the morning , families shouting and cleaners very loud . Consistent knocking on doors from 8am However would stay here again , lovely hotel for a good price
Was dreading staying here after reading reviews but had no problems. Staff very friendly, got there early so couldn't go straight into room so filled details put luggage in locker and told to come back at 2. Was given key cards lady said room 204 so went to room and was unable to get in so looked on card she gave us and it looked like it said 202 so tried that one and it worked. Room was spotless, sofa had been made up into bed but never slept on it as wasn't comfortable. Bed was 2 singles pushed together but used to that as that's what is always is where ever we have stayed, beds were comfortable. Kitchen had everything needed including, hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. Never cooked in the apartment so can't comment on the hob. Quite a few english channels on the TV. Aircon in main area also bedroom both worked well. Shower was powerful also had hairdryer and hand hair and body wash. Cleaner came everyday if you didn't want to be disturbed put sign outside on door and then take it off when you want it to be cleaned. If you want towels changing you just leave them on bathroom floor. If you want bedding changed you leave the card on your pillow and they change it. There's a laundrette downstairs it costs €6 for a wash not sure about dryer as didn't use it. You have to pay at reception to get a token. Can't comment on the pools as didn't use them there was a lot of people using them. Plenty of sun loungers around. Cant comment on bar, snack places or restaurant as didn't use any of them. Hotel was clean and in a good area next to plenty of shops, restaurants, takeaways etc. Beaches were 5/10 minutes walk away plenty to choose from plenty of nice ones few rocky ones, black sand one. Bus stop right round corner to get places including airport. As for it being noisy didn't really hear noise had one guy shouting on the first night only lasted couple of minutes tho we were also in a corner room so had main streets on both sides of us and never bothered us or kept us awake. First time in tenerife and glad I stayed in this hotel I would definitely stay here again
We have spent 9 nights self catering here and loved it . It is a mix of all ages and despite my concerns reading the negative reviews before I came , I have really enjoyed it . We all slept well and have had a great time
