Aydinbey Queens Palace and Spa

The hotel is NOT a 5* hotel. Yes it’s nice, the rooms are clean and the pools are decent. That’s where the positives end.

Let’s start with the food. Wow. Never known as much grease, oil and butter used on literally every item of food. Was half expecting an oiled up apple at times. Everything has a very strange taste and I think it’s the oil but I can’t put my finger on it. Everything from chips to burgers to soup all tastes pretty much the same. The food is also very overcooked and, if it didn’t slide down my throat with the amount of grease then it got stuck with dryness.

The à la carte restaurant we chose was the Italian. We arrived and every single table was set up with 5 small plates of cold starters. Flies were circling the plates and we were in there an hour and some of the guests hadn’t arrived for their reservation yet. We weren’t offered drinks other than water so had to get them ourselves from the pool bar and when we came back the waiter said ‘if you want a drink I’ll get you one’ well…you didn’t so. The food was the worst food I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. I think most of it was food from the all you can eat buffet, jazzed up with some basil. The caprese salad was tomato and halloumi - strange. The Caesar salad lettuce leaves were browning as it had clearly been out too long. My partner had a bad stomach all day the following day we assume off the raw salmon as that’s the only thing the rest of us didn’t eat.

The smell of the hotel inside is lovely, but step outside and the smell of drains and bins is overwhelming. Especially on an evening.

The kids disco is basic at best. 8-10 of the same songs in the same order every single night.

The entertainment staff were a miserable, moody group. Like dog eat dog selling bingo tickets and extras. The men just posed and pouted and the women chatted amongst themselves in a manner that was a little intimidating. We didn’t play any games or buy any extras for this reason.

The room was cleaned a couple of times but all they did was straighten out the sheets and give us new towels. We were given free fruit upon arrival as our flight got us in very late. We assumed they’d take the plate and leftover fruit away the next day, or even the day after that but we had to take it down to the restaurant 3 floors down as we were getting fruit flies in the room.

Now this isn’t a reflection of the hotel (I don’t think unless they advertise it on strange websites) but the staff and guests were so rude!!! Waiting in line for some food and people just cut in front of you. Waiting for a lift with the buggy and a family of 5 rush in before you and now you can’t fit in the lift. It was genuinely strange how rude people were. It was a culture shock to say the least.

Wouldn’t stay here again. The 5* is very misleading and I think it’s only got that based on being next to land of legends. A 3* at best.

It was a very good experience . Especially Dart Game with " Efe " , even if you loose you will be happy and you wait every day the time that darts game begins you leave everything to play !
