TripAdvisor Review
Overpriced, not 5*, outdated and needs a revamp

We went on the 15th July for 10 days and have very mixed views of the hotel. This hotel is rated as a 5* but it definitely isn’t it’s more like a 3*. You can tell the hotel was very good in its prime but it’s now very dated and definitely in need of modernising to justify the price tag.

Pros -

FOOD - was actually very good at the hotel, and had variety (towards the end it was getting repetitive) and we especially liked the fact they catered to my mum who has to eat gluten free. Guest relations made her fill up a form, then introduced her to the head chef and we were told we can ask the head chef daily what mum would like to eat, and they did cook fresh for her daily. The kitchen/dining team work very hard!

Pools - They were nice and clean.

Guest relations - They were very helpful especially Suheda, Dinara, Ezma and Shapaghat. They were very friendly and spoke English very well so communication was easy.

**** Unfortunately this is where it ended ****

Cons -

Room - They are VERY dated and parts of the bathroom were broken. We had 4 different rooms, three on Level 3 and one on Level 4. Level 3 rooms seemed to be worse off and the AC was not very good at all. My sister had to change rooms after spending one night in it, as the AC was not working, even once moved the new room AC was not all that well. The Level 4 room was nice however the fridge was empty even though all the other rooms were stocked up, which puts a little dampener at the start of the holiday.

Cleaning - The cleaning was appalling at this hotel. Despite having signs on the door and being out all day, the rooms were not cleaned. The times they were cleaned, the beds were just made, but not sufficiently mopped or cleaned the floor. We can tell as there was old dirt, hair etc that was left each time. The bedding was not changed and the bathroom vanity/mirror was never wiped down in the whole 10 days. They also failed to provide new towels many times and give toilet paper, despite them taking the towels away. This was annoying as we had to keep calling reception to top up. One of the cleaning lady’s on Level 3 even huffed and puffed and clicked her fingers at my sister when my sister was asking for toilet paper and towels and room to be cleaned, as if she was being a nuisance!

Food Timings - THERE IS NO FOOD SERVED after 2.30- 6.30! This was at times really annoying especially with kids as in the heat they would get hungry at odd times. We did stock up on snacks but I haven’t been to a hotel before where they did not have some sort of food being served throughout the day.

Restaurant - Although they work hard and do try, there were a few of the staff that just looked like they couldn’t be bothered! My brother in law went to the restaurant by himself to feed his 18 month old. Once she finished eating, he asked if they can give some water to wash his daughter’s dummy, and can they grab him a slice of water melon to feed her as he couldn’t leave the baby by herself… the staff member very rudely said no. Considering he was by himself, and if he was to leave to get food/water with the baby, the table would have been taken.

Entertainment - Before going we read reviews that entertainment team were very good lively etc… there is little to none entertainment throughout the day and no engagement with tourists. There was one session of Aqua aerobics which lasted probably 5 mins and couple times there was pool volley. Again over as quick as it started. Evening entertainment for the kids and adults left very little to be desired. For a 5* I defo would have expected more.

Reception Staff - Day time reception staff were bearable, difficult to get a smile out of them, but the night time staff were absolutely disappointing! They gave one word answers very abruptly, and the ladies going around giving drinks etc they just looked fed up and were very abrupt!

Taxi Prices - This was extortionate! Literally 3 minutes down the road and it was costing us €30 at a pop. We spent hundreds on taxis as there wasn’t anything close by walking distance. A lot of the times the drivers were quite rude!

All in all Kaya Belek was not worth the price tag and definitely not 5*. We have stayed at 4* hotels and received better service and experience. It was just a boring hotel, and for the amount we paid for the hotel and the expenses during our stay, we’ve stayed in better hotels for less money. It’s very outdated and tired, and definitely needs a revamp.
