Xanadu Resort

Arrival & Check‑In

Check‑in was smooth and efficient, with no waiting, and we were in our room quickly. We arrived late at around 9.30 PM, and while a late‑night snack restaurant was available, the food wasn’t great. Arriving late also meant the first day’s all‑inclusive benefits were missed and had anticipated a few more options.

Rooms, Cleanliness & Housekeeping

Rooms are spacious and comfortable in layout, but dated and in need of refurbishment and modernisation to meet the expectations of a high‑class resort. Beds were very hard and need toppers or changing….comfort is king!

Housekeeping was excellent — rooms were cleaned thoroughly, often early in the morning, and the staff were consistently courteous and respectful. This was one of the strongest service elements of the stay.

Food & Drink

Buffet Food was repetitive and lacked variety. Some dishes were fine, but overall the dining experience didn’t match the standard expected. Bars were adequate but lacked standout cocktails or signature drinks.

À la Carte Restaurants

The à la carte restaurants do enhance the guest experience, but booking them should be easier and available consistently from arrival (why are we forced to wait 2 days?). Supplements are acceptable, but the cost felt imbalanced compared to the quality. In some cases, the same food was available in the buffet without extra charges, which undermines the value of the à la carte offering. The restaurants were not all open and unfortunately there is only one choice of restaurant for free and that’s the buffet.

Mini‑Bar

The mini‑bar was restocked daily but inconsistently. Some days included chocolate, other days none. Juice and other items followed the same pattern — stocked, but never reliably replenished.

Facilities, Entertainment & Activities

Entertainment is clearly geared towards families and children. We didn’t invest much time in it, but it’s obvious the resort puts effort into offering varied themes and shows.

Gym facilities were limited and the lack of relevant air conditioning was brutal.

Sustainability practices across the resort felt underdeveloped compared to modern expectations.

Beach, Sunbeds & Pools

The hotel sunbed policy was not enforced. Towels are placed early by guests to reserve beds, leaving many guests without options later in the morning. This is a recurring frustration and an easy‑win improvement for management but whatever is put in place, it must be consistent.

Pools are good, but the resort would benefit from a dedicated adult‑only pool to balance the family‑heavy environment.

The pier is the standout feature — excellent for safe sea swimming, with perfect water temperatures and calm conditions. It’s genuinely enjoyable and one of the resort’s best assets.

Safety, Lifeguards & Discipline

Safety rules are inconsistently enforced. Lifeguards ignored “no diving” signs on the pier and even encouraged unsafe behaviour, including taking run‑ups and diving over safety ropes. This undermines confidence in the resort’s discipline and contradicts posted policies. The management did go on to address this and reinforce their policy but again, it will be wasted if not sustained.

Water Sports

All water sports are at extra cost. There are no complimentary options such as kayaking or paddle boarding, which many comparable resorts include as part of the all‑inclusive offering (albeit for maybe only a 1 - 2 hour period)

Cabanas

The paid cabanas are excellent — private loungers, drinks service, tables, and a genuinely luxurious environment. At €100 per day they are not cheap, but they offer a premium experience and a refreshing change from the main pool or beach areas.

Spa & Indoor Pool

We didn’t use the spa, and the indoor pool was closed during our stay.

Wi‑Fi & Connectivity

Wi‑Fi was reliable and consistent throughout the resort — in rooms, at the pool, on the beach, and even on the pier. This was a strong positive.

Atmosphere & Guest Mix

The overall vibe across the resort was relaxed. The guest mix appeared to be mainly German, French, and Russian, followed by English. Not all staff spoke English, so communication occasionally required patience or gestures. Basic interactions were manageable, but it didn’t always feel seamless. A number of staff spoke about fatigue, the heat and long hours and we had sympathy for their challenges. The hotel has lots of good people that should be valued, their positive effort enhances the experience of every guest.

Sustainability & Plastics

Cold bottled water was available in many locations, which was convenient. However, there is a heavy reliance on plastic bottles with plastic lids, and plastic straws are consistently used. It’s unclear how this fits with the hotel’s environmental policies, and it felt out of step with modern sustainability expectations. This is another area where easy‑win improvements could make a big difference.

Management Response

Management did respond to issues raised, offering late checkout and a complimentary cabana gesture. This was appreciated and showed willingness to address concerns.

We were also sent some sweets, fruits and wine to our room as another gesture but this arrived 15 minutes before our check out and was of no benefit however, we appreciated the gesture.

Departure

There was a small wait to checkout and I paid my charges. There was little interaction and I was not asked if I had an enjoyable stay etc.

Overall Summary

Xanadu Resort is good, but I wouldn’t say it’s great. There were several frustrations for us and many easy‑win improvements that could significantly elevate the guest experience. With so many options available in Turkey, I don’t think I would return — perhaps a premium resort would be a better fit next time. I think I would have enjoyed the stay more at Xanadu as a 7‑day holiday as there was not enough to vary the experience. It has all the ability to achieve a high class standard but in my opinion, it does need to raise its game especially if it wants to encourage more repeat business.
