Laguna Beach Alya Resort and Spa

We had a mixed experience at Laguna Beach. There were some definite positives, but also a few things that could be improved.

Unfortunately, there was a noticeable bad drain smell during our stay, which was unpleasant at times. In the evenings, when there was entertainment on, there seemed to be very minimal tables available for the number of guests, and we didn’t think it was appropriate that some guests were expected to sit on sunbeds to watch the entertainment.

We also had an issue with noisy, drunk guests in the room next door. The noise became quite intimidating and scared my daughter, so I had to go to reception to raise the issue. This was disappointing and did affect our enjoyment of the stay.

On the positive side, the food was good, with plenty of choice, and there was lots of space in the restaurants. There were also plenty of sunbeds available, which was a real bonus.

The staff deserve a special mention. Everyone we encountered was very pleasant and helpful, and they work tirelessly, particularly the housekeeping, maintenance and bar staff. Their hard work and friendly attitude really stood out.

Overall, Laguna Beach has a lot of positives, but the drainage smell, lack of suitable seating for evening entertainment and the issue with noisy guests are areas that I feel need addressing

I stayed at Laguna Beach Alya Resort & Spa for 10 days in August whilst travelling with a friend's family and had a really enjoyable holiday.

The hotel itself was very clean throughout. Our room was cleaned every day, the air conditioning worked really well, and we had a nice view across the hotel. The bed was comfortable enough, although the sheets felt a little rough at times. We had no issues with noise during our stay.

The food was decent overall. There was plenty of choice each day, and whilst not everything was to my taste, I always found something I enjoyed. The freshly cooked food from the grill was particularly nice, as was the pasta.

The pool area was one of the highlights for me. The pools were a great size and kept very clean. The only downside was that if you wanted a sunbed in a good spot, you needed to be up fairly early.

What really made this holiday stand out was the entertainment team. The daytime activities were absolutely top tier and easily the best part of the hotel. There was always something going on, including water basketball, water polo, volleyball, darts, Jenga, pool games, beach volleyball and more.

A special mention has to go to Diya, Karina, Polina and Lina (from the Animation Team), who were all absolutely outstanding throughout our stay. Their energy, enthusiasm and ability to get everyone involved made a huge difference to our experience and helped create such a fun atmosphere around the hotel every day. Diya was always full of energy and brought a fantastic vibe to every activity, while Karina, Polina and Lina were equally brilliant, constantly engaging with guests, encouraging participation and making sure everyone felt included. The amount of effort they put in each day was clear to see, and they genuinely helped make the holiday so memorable. They are all a real credit to the resort and were without doubt the highlight of our stay.

The staff across the hotel were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I also used the gym a few times. It was fairly basic but exactly what I would expect from a hotel gym.

The location is a little further away from any major city, but because there was so much going on at the hotel, this wasn't really an issue for us. There is also a shopping centre nearby which was convenient.

Overall, I had a great stay and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing all-inclusive holiday with plenty of activities. Whilst I probably wouldn't return myself, that's only because I like to visit new places rather than revisit the same destination. The entertainment team really made the holiday memorable and helped create a fantastic atmosphere throughout our stay.

Absolutely — I’d add it into the room section like this: Writing We chose this hotel mainly because it was the cheapest in the area and close to Alara Grand Bazaar, which is amazing for cheap shopping, but unfortunately you can definitely see why this hotel is cheaper. The biggest issue is the rooms. We’re on the 5th floor and our bathroom constantly smells of sewage/poo. My parents are on the lobby floor and theirs is even worse — they have to keep the toilet lid down and bathroom door shut to try to contain the smell. Our kettle is broken and leaks water everywhere, there’s a huge chip in the sink, and my mum’s bathroom door handle actually came off. The shower constantly changes between hot and cold, the bedsheets feel like sandpaper and the corridors are unbearably hot. You’re not even given proper coffee mugs in the rooms, just paper cups, which makes it feel very cheap. We also booked a pool-view room, but from the 5th floor you can barely actually see the pool. There are also no English TV channels at all, only German, despite us trying to change all the settings. The Wi-Fi is also terrible. We can never get Wi-Fi in our room on the 5th floor and you can barely get a decent connection around the rest of the hotel either, which is really frustrating. The food selection is okay, but we’ve definitely had much better at other hotels in Turkey. There isn’t much variety between meals, strangely no scrambled eggs at breakfast and no ice cream for dessert. You’re also not allowed to take food outside the restaurant areas, even food from the pool bar, which seems a bit ridiculous when you’re spending the day around the pool. The pools are probably one of the best parts of the hotel. They’re nice, there are slides, plenty of daytime activities, they allow inflatables and pool balls, and there are lots of cushioned sun loungers. There is only one pool bar though. Evening entertainment hasn’t been great and there’s nowhere near enough seating. If you don’t get there early, you end up sitting on a sun lounger far away. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again. We stayed at Litore Hotel next door three years ago and, in comparison, it was 10x better. If we returned to this area, I would definitely pay the extra and stay there instead.
