Public transport runs in front of the hotel providing easy access to the resort centre and local places of interest such as the magnificent Apollo Temple, situated just 5km away.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I honestly do think that this will be our final trip to Turkey. As a family we are now on our 7th Turkey all inclusive holiday. I can honestly say that the first two back in 2018 and 2019 were the best. It’s been a downward journey ever since though.
This year we find ourselves in this Laur hotel in Didim. First impressions were not great. We arrived at nearly 2am to not much of a welcome at all. Hotel lobby was very underwhelming and that set the theme for what was to come. We are a family of four and booked accordingly, To say the room was shameful would be an understatement. It was soooo small. One double bed, a single and a sleeper couch all cramped into a shoebox, it was horrible. The beds are incredibly hard and the sleeper couch was like a park bench. The aircon system may as well have not existed as it was absolutely hopeless and the room was unbearably hot. WiFi constantly drops out and coverage is poor. Uploads speeds are particularly bad.
The next morning we took our rapidly increasing list of issues to management. To be fair they were quite accommodating and we secured the room we should have had. Also cramped but better. Aircon 20% better but still quite inadequate. WiFi the same as before.
I’m sure I read somewhere that this hotel had recently been refurbished. I really can’t see where! The Hotel has been quite poorly maintained and the repairs that have been carried out are to a very poor standard. You would swear that a six year old has been let loose with a ball of play-doh and an art paint set. Bathroom areas are a joke with loose fittings everywhere and limited hot water. Quality of fitment and labour are a joke for a supposed 5-Star hotel but this seems to be a standard that is acceptable in Turkey as it’s not the first hotel I have seen like this.
Food wise it’s been okay. Standard of food is good although dishes that should be kept warm often are not which means you can get cold food. Can’t speak for alcohol but soft drinks were branded and either cans or bottles.
Pool area is nice but there is no poolside service and no entertainment at all during the day. Table clear-ups take ages. Loungers are good and well padded although not the cleanest. Staff are pleasant enough but not very enthusiastic.
Animation teams at night were very good although to be fair I have only witnessed one night this far.
Would I stay here again or recommend it? In a word, no. The hotel feels run down in many areas, food experience is average at best and there is nothing to make it memorable. I think the general lack of competition in this area has perhaps not led to investment and thus improvements in key areas. Overall it’s 5/10 experience for me.
Excellent hotels excellent animators great activites soft and calm hotel foods are good rooms are nice and clean the atmosphere is great and the hotel is in the great location
We’ve been very welcomed since arrival from all staff. The activity team are always trying to include. Natalia and Arina and shaggy are all very nice!
Just recently returned from a family of 5 one week holiday at the the laur hotel . Was expecting so much better but there was Positives and negatives about the place so a middle of the road score from our Behalf . Nice hotel with gorgeous views , nice size pool and lovely little walkaround little play one for the almost 2 year old but felt a little cramped around the pool area. Had to get up early ( and even when we did we was still behind many other folk ) to have to put your towels down to claim a sunbed (pool area) . Was around the 7- 7-30 we was having to do this every morning. Looked like towels was left on beds all day with no folk at them at times so rules on that could be better.
A massive negative for us was the food . We felt the choices wasn’t great and believe me we are no food critics we will eat almost anything . What was also horrible to see was the flies around it and the children noticed and were not at all keen on seeing that . They liked the chips and pizzas so they mainly had that all week .
Entertainment team were very friendly and chatty although the same activities every day of which was only a few was a little disappointing
Another negative was the photographers and massage approach . Can understand why they go round asking people but I for one am a type of person who will go to them if I want something . Not faulting what they do but getting asked for your first few days daily is a bit annoying .
Overall clean , friendly hotel ( minus the flies round the food) so it’s a 3/5 for us .
Very good servise! The best lady was Melek Chef from the restaurant. She was really lovely! 🥰🥰
