Akdeniz Beach

We had a early morning flight which made us arrive at breakfast time around 9.15am. As our taxi tried to pull up traffic behind kept beeping the driver as there is absolutely nowhere to park. The hotel small entrance is on a busy main road. As we walked down the slope to recp myself and partner got a very unpleasant look from the reception manager , who then said something in Turkish to the receptionist. I told her I'd like to check in , she replied check in isn't until 2pm . I didn't expect a room straight away I understand that my room wouldn't be ready until 2pm. I asked her what should we do as we've travelled through the night and would love to go through to the pool area. I was told no I wasn't allowed ,but I could sit in the recp area until 2pm - it was 9.15am?? I asked why , she said check in is 2pm ! I wanted to changing my clothes into lighter sun clothes. To be honest we would of loved a coffee after travelling as it was breakfast time . The receptionist then said she would check with her manager . We were then told we could change our clothes on the poolside changing room only . So we changed and went and bought breakfast and a coffee elsewhere and waited until 2pm on the beach front . A nice welcome , a smile from the grumpy reception manager lady would of been good . Or just been told " I'm sorry you can't have your room until 2pm. Please help yourself to breakfast or a coffee as you've travelled all night " That would of been amazing. The room was a superior room . I do have to say that we thought the room was lovely and clean . Also very modern. We did pay extra to have this room. A few other guests said they had a standard room and they hated it . The food was actually lovely . Myself and partner do like a lot of Mediterranean foods so we did think it was good . Although again, a few visitors complained to us that they hated it . Maybe wouldn't be good for small children. The problem we had with food times was the evening. Nowhere to sit . Out of the whole week we only stayed in the hotel once for our evening meal due to no seating . So we paid to have meals elsewhere. The night we did eat the evening meal we only had the option of sitting above the restaurant . This area had 3/4s of its roof panels in darkness with lighting not working . We could not see our food to eat it . A lady who had finished her meal came upstairs and gave us her table lamp so we could see our food . They fixed the lighting the day before we left after a week's stay . Upstairs dining seating area had no table clothes , napkins , salt and pepper either. It's almost as if it's an over flow area that isn't looked after. The all inclusive drinks was the worst thing for me . Your choice is Efes , gin, vodka, white &red wine ( Although a couple of nights I heard people complain there was no wine). A few soft drinks and a coffee machine. Got to admit the hot drinks area was good. No cocktails at all. A couple of nights we were served a gin and ice with Efes. As there was no tonic ? This happened twice ! The manager of the hotel who has the Celebrity bar which is attached to the entrance of the hotel is the most aggressive looking , angry man. Never ever smiled at guests . We witnessed him shouting at staff . He did not care guests were about . Sun loungers - we never got a sun lounger the whole time we stayed . We complained and was told that they have a 1 hour policy . If towels are left unaccompanied for over an hour they take them off . This never happened to any towels the whole week we stayed . We purposely noted how long sunbeds were left unaccompanied for . We did get offered a spare sunbed from the back area ( these are the over flow sunbeds and different to the ones around the pool). As there was only a tiny space they could of squeezed them into we declined. The hotel is far too small for how many guests it takes in . So this is a problem for meal times and sun loungers . As we have stayed in Olu deniz so many times we knew places to go so it wasn't a big deal to have to eat out or go to the beach for sun loungers , it's more annoying when you've paid for all inclusive then realise you should just of gone bed and breakfast. Also , at night time when you've got dressed up to have drinks and evening meal there is nowhere to sit . All the dining tables are already taken , so unless you sit on the sun loungers ( the only time they are free is night time) you have nowhere to sit and enjoy an evening drink . Apart from 2x small tables with chairs which are normally occupied . Can you believe the whole of that hotel has only 2x small tables and chairs for evening drinks ?? I found that odd as most hotels all inclusive , bed and breakfast have a bar area with seating . I did stay in this hotel over 25 years ago before they changed the pool area . The bar now takes up a lot of the pool . So the pool itself is actually quite small. So many things could be tweaked at this hotel . It actually could be a good hotel because it's location is really good . Friendly staff is vital. Welcoming new guests so their holiday starts off to a good start is also vital. All inclusive drinks menu needs looking at and changing . Make the bar area have proper seating . I loved the food so I can't say much on that . Just improve dining conditions . The problem this hotel has is it's too small and everything is crammed in . One more point I thought looked terrible for the hotel . At the small entrance there is a high table and chair slightly on the outside , on 2x occasions I witnessed the guest relations member of staff sat there smoking . She clearly had her Akdeniz badge on . This is not a good look for the hotel at all. Would I return ........ No

If you want a cheap and cheerful hotel, this is the place. Very clean, staff are lovely and the amenities are clean and plentiful. Only criticism would be the food, I found it reasonable, my son wasn’t keen, so ate out most of the time. I would definitely come back happily. Location of hotel is perfect only 5 minutes from beach. Staff friendly and welcoming even though communication with some staff was difficult. Calm and chilled atmosphere. Rooms were basic but adequate need updating in my opinion Hotel was very clean absolutely no complaints. I'd say it was value for money but food variety was lacking would have preferred more fresh meat. Would definitely stay again
