Akdeniz Beach

Nice little hotel with a good vibe! Staff are lovely.

Rooms need updating, we were moved from a room they initially put us in as 3 adults which meant we had to step over each other to get into beds etc…but moved to a triple room which was adequate. First room also had broken safe, fridge, shower and electrical sockets hanging off. Second room much nicer. I had contacted guest relations and hotel prior to our stay to request a room to accommodate 3 adults, but got no reply!

Pool area kept clean and tidy, and no fighting for sunbeds at silly o’clock, which was an absolute blessing!

Location is great, close to strip, restaurants, shops and beaches.

Drinks- no cocktails but have slushies and quality soft drinks. Plenty for a chilled week.

Now the negative of the hotel is the food! I didn’t have high expectations but even with a realistic approach to things the food here is well below par. I’m vegetarian and used to limited options, usually relying on bread, cheese and salads but honestly struggled to find something to eat at most meal times…teenage kids only had the kebabs (served two times in a week) and chips. They had pasta some nights, usually our saviour if struggling but it just didn’t taste right at all! The salads are uncovered and of course therefore covered in flies etc. butter was usually mouldy and milk gone off. overall was just exceptionally limited. I did raise with hotel and was told it’s Turkish cuisine, I would disagree, been to Turkey plenty of times and wouldn’t say it resembled local cuisine at all. Also told they serve vegetarian dishes on the same night, which isn’t particular helpful for the other 6…and we didn’t actually find this happened anyway….such a shame as a few small tweaks and the food could be improved to an acceptable level.

Second visit to this hotel and would definitely go back. The location is great, 5 mins from beach and strip with shops literally everywhere around you. Air con included in price which is needed in the summer, also kettle in room is added bonus. The staff here are friendly and helpful and just want you to enjoy your holiday , the English rep Tammy is brilliant, very knowledgeable and always willing to stop and chat even on her break. Whilst we were here a lady suffered a major medical issue resulting in operation and hospital stay. The way she was welcomed back by staff and Takky and looked after /treated like a queen was commendable. She had to extend her holiday as not fit to fly home and the hotel were so accommodating, even allowing her to pop back to our hotel for a drink and catch up with us when her insurance company moved her to a different hotel up the road, till she can return home. The room was great , plenty big enough lots of space for clothes . We were in 219 which is up 3 flights of stairs (no lift) but the stunning view from balcony was worth it . My only suggestion would be to improve food slightly for English guests. It is very European orientated. We struggled mainly with breakfast , you are not going to get fried eggs or English breakfast here but plenty of salad, cheese, cold meat and chips. There were omelettes on two days of our 9 days stay plus pancakes on occasion. I suggested maybe croissants in my last years review and I say the same again. Only hotel I have ever stayed where there are no croissants. Lunch and dinner there was always rice, chips, chicken dish and plentiful salad. The afternoon there was cakes and biscuits at 5pm which was nice touch. If you come to Ak Deniz expecting 5 star experience then you will be disappointed, many people pay cheap but expect the world. Remember you are in another country , be polite and the staff will bend over backwards to please you. We will return again without a doubt.
