In short: outstanding grounds and rooms, let down by poor service.

I had just spent a week at another 5* resort in Mauritius beforehand, so I have a direct point of comparison. I spent my last day here while waiting for my flight.

Grounds & Room: Excellent The rooms are modern and tastefully furnished, and the property itself is impressive, with two pools, a spa, a gym, and a tennis court. The beach is a five-minute walk away, and both the view and the walk to the sea are genuinely pleasant. The one drawback is the proximity to the airport, which occasionally brings some aircraft noise.

Service: Significantly Below Par The first impression was underwhelming: stepping out of the taxi, there was no proper welcome from a concierge or bellboy as one would expect at a five-star property — instead, I was met with rows of suitcases piled up at the entrance. The main lobby was busy with a lot of guests waiting. I was taken to a separate check-in lounge, which was pleasant enough, though the whole process took a long time. A welcome drink was served and my passport was collected, but it wasn't returned until much later, seemingly forgotten. I was told my suitcase would be brought to my room, but it never arrived and I ended up collecting it myself from the lobby — they didn't even remember which one was mine. That said, the guide who checked me in and walked me through the resort was friendly and took his time, and checkout was pleasant as well. It was the service in between that fell short: overall the staff seemed overwhelmed and interactions felt purely transactional. Paying for a drink at the main pool bar, for instance, I didn't get a single word from the staff. Despite remaining friendly throughout, I didn't encounter a single staff member who came across as genuinely warm. On a positive note, the manager introduced himself personally, which was a nice touch.

Aqua Restaurant: A Highlight Set right by the pool, this was easily the nicest part of the stay. The setting is lovely — a beautiful pool and attractive grounds that make for a relaxed, enjoyable spot to sit. The pizza was notably good and crispy compared to other resorts, and the cocktails were well made. A genuinely pleasant experience — only the service across the property let it down.

Evening Restaurant: Disappointing The buffet was overpriced and simply not worth it. The service was inattentive — I wasn't shown to a table and ended up having to move because someone was already seated where I'd sat down, even though I had specifically asked where I should sit. That really shouldn't happen in a hotel restaurant. When I flagged an allergy, I received little genuine help, and multiple people asked me the same question. The selection was broad but there wasn't much that appealed to me. Worth noting that a 5% service charge is already included at the resort, which makes the lack of attentiveness all the more disappointing. I left with an uneasy feeling.

Overall Fine for a single day, but not recommendable for a longer stay, especially with service falling short. The grounds and rooms are outstanding, but the service noticeably drags down the overall experience.

We stayed at Constance Le Chaland for our honeymoon and had a wonderful experience. We were warmly welcomed by Kanishka, who was incredibly kind and helpful.

The resort is spectacular and beautifully maintained, with two pools – one overlooking the ocean and another more sheltered from the wind. The food was excellent, with an à la carte restaurant and a buffet offering a different theme every evening.

The absolute highlight is the beach: one kilometre of white sand surrounded by palm trees and tropical vegetation, with dreamlike turquoise water and a coral reef close to shore – a true paradise for snorkelling.

We also really appreciated the special honeymoon touches included in our stay: a couples’ massage, a romantic dinner for two and a lovely welcome with a bottle and some sweets.

A special mention also goes to the guided walk to nearby Blue Bay – we unfortunately don’t remember our guide’s name, but he was incredibly friendly and funny!

The staff were always kind and helpful. A few details could be improved, but overall it was a beautiful and memorable honeymoon experience.

Was indeed a wonderful stay with a lovely staff here especially Mr.Kanishka, Miss Mellisa were helpful throughout , rooms cleanliness 10/10 and the private beach the best part of it…all in all perfect for honeymoon ..
