A Taste of Authentic Sri Lanka in Colombo
Had a really enjoyable dinner at Nuga Gama at Cinnamon Grand Colombo. If you’re looking to experience authentic Sri Lankan food in the heart of Colombo, this is definitely a place worth trying. The food was amazing, with a great variety of traditional Sri Lankan dishes and flavours. What I especially liked was that it felt like a proper Sri Lankan dining experience rather than just a typical hotel buffet.
A special mention to Nilmini, who looked after our table throughout the dinner. She was very attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even more pleasant.
Overall, a wonderful place to experience genuine Sri Lankan flavours, especially if you’re visiting Colombo and want to try traditional local food.

Exceptional hotel, and staff who made the difference
We finished a fortnight touring Sri Lanka with two nights at the Cinnamon Grand, and it was the right way to end the trip. A high-specification hotel that delivers on all of it: spacious, quiet, well-maintained rooms despite the Galle Road address, a good pool and gym, WiFi that actually works, and a choice of restaurants wide enough that five adults with different tastes could eat in without anyone complaining. Quality and value were both good by the standards of a hotel of this class.
What lifted it was the staff. We were a party of five in two rooms and nothing went wrong, from check-in to an early-morning departure for the airport. Dumit in particular was outstanding, professional and attentive, anticipating what we needed before we asked and doing it with real warmth. The concierge desk was knowledgeable about the city and gave us better suggestions than any guidebook.
Location helps too. Galle Face is a short drive, Barefoot and the Colombo 3 shops are close, and Fort is fifteen minutes away.
We would stay again, and we have already recommended it.
