Wonderful stay, Beautiful hotel, Warm hospitality.
I had a wonderful 8 night stay. Felt like a second home and everything was made perfect by the very attentive staff at the hotel. The food was delicious, service was excellent and everyone wanted to make us feel comfortable. No request was too much for them and was attended to with enthusiasm. I am writing a glowing review because my experience was truly that.
Once I saw past the ageing carpets in the room, everything else was perfect, the marble bathroom and decor was rich and the toiletries from Spa Ceylon were fabulous. All amenities were replenished plenty and hotel provided so much of bottled water. Room and hotel was very clean and quiet.
The food was delicious and after 7 breakfasts, there was still plenty of variety to keep me still interested (usually I get fed up with hotel breakfast after 3rd day). There was local as well as multiple international cuisines to satisfy any foodie. Chef Nuwan’s cuttlefish and prawns curries were so delicious and Dinushka in main restaurant went out of their way to cater to us.
Horizon Lounge was superb, and Dinesh and his staff were always trying their best to keep us happy. Hats off to them. The view from the Horizon lounge is just breathtaking.
Overall, it was a lovely experience in a beautiful hotel in Colombo, where there was personalised service (not just another guest). Highly recommended.

Top Class Brunch experience at Shangri La Colombo
The Shangri‑La branch was outstanding. The atmosphere and presentation were top class. I began at the Japanese counter — the seafood selection was excellent, with crab, oysters, and fresh shrimp, all full of flavour. I then enjoyed some dumplings and Chinese fried rice, which were very nice, but the highlight was the rack of lamb, prepared perfectly. I also tried the Indian biryani, which was flavorful, and the desserts were top quality. We really enjoyed our meal at the Shangri‑La brunch.
