Courtyard Marriott Abu Dhabi – Disappointing Stay Despite Gold Member Status As a Marriott Gold Member, I expect a certain standard of service and hospitality. Unfortunately, my recent stay at Courtyard Marriott Abu Dhabi fell far below Marriott expectations. Check‑in was polite and the staff acknowledged my membership, offering a room upgrade and complimentary nachos and drinks. However, the upgrade felt more symbolic than meaningful. Major Issues: • The room view was unacceptable — a backyard with a broken machine, no lighting, and dirty windows. This is not a view suitable for any guest, let alone a loyalty member. • We were two guests, yet only one complimentary drink was provided, and nachos tasted extremely poor, clearly not professionally prepared. • The room had a prayer direction sign, but the hotel did not have a prayer mat available when requested. Basic religious amenities should be standard in a hotel of this category. • Service was consistently slow, and the overall hotel atmosphere felt dull, lacking energy and hospitality. • The upgrade did not feel like an upgrade — just a larger room with a terrible view. Positive Points: Reception staff were polite. • Room size was comfortable. • Location is excellent, directly connected to the Abu Dhabi World Trade Centre with plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby. Final Verdict: The location is the only strong advantage. The hotel needs serious improvement in service quality, room standards, and guest experience. As a loyal Marriott guest, this stay was disappointing, and I would not return unless major changes are made.
