Palafitos Overwater Bungalows

We had the most incredible stay at the Palafitos overwater bungalow in Playa del Carmen while celebrating my husband’s birthday. From the moment we arrived, the service was truly exceptional, and so many people went out of their way to make our stay special.

Janet checked us in and immediately made us feel welcome and taken care of. She was incredibly attentive throughout our entire stay and even texted us each day to make sure we had everything we needed. That personal touch made such a difference.

Alberto was actually the first person we met, and he started our stay off perfectly. He drove us to our bungalow and greeted us by name every morning afterward. It was such a small thing, but it made us feel genuinely recognized and cared for.

We also made the gym part of our daily routine, followed by the hot tub and cold plunge, and the staff throughout the property were always friendly and welcoming. At the restaurant, Patricia, Ezequiel, Josue, Pablo, Bertin, and Jesus were all wonderful and made our meals even more enjoyable. Alan, our bartender, was fantastic and always made us feel welcome.

We also spent plenty of time at the beach, where Octavio and Alvaro took great care of us and made our beach days even more relaxing.

What really stood out to us was that the service never felt impersonal. So many staff members remembered us, knew our names, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure we were having a great experience.

It was the perfect place to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and we left feeling relaxed, spoiled, and very well taken care of. We would absolutely return and would highly recommend the Palafitos to anyone looking for a special getaway!

This was our second time back at the Palofitis overwater bungalows. It was amazing in every aspect. The accommodations are incredible! Love the direct access to the ocean from our decks. Our butler Enrique was attentive to our every need. He even procured me a yoga mat so I coukd do yoga on my deck first thing in the morning. The food at the overwater grill which is exclusive to Palofitos guests was not only delicious but a full experience. Loved the 5 elements special menu and the tasting menu of Mexican fusion. The wait staff and hostesses were so friendly! Alberto drove the golf cart to take us to and from our rooms. He was so funny and friendly. I rate this resort a 10!!!! Can't wait to go back next year!

Palafitos at El Dorado is an excellent resort but what truly sets it apart are its exceptional staff. They are incredibly personable and honestly made the experience so special and wonderful. In particular Alberto who was the first to greet us and make us feel right at home (he was also the last one to see as depart as well), and he had a small gift for us to celebrate our anniversary. So thoughtful. And Enrique who was with us almost the entire trip and spent the time to get to know us and ensure we were taken care of and had an excellent time. Overall, we loved the entire experience. Thank you!
