We have been going to Royal Hacienda for many years and love the warmth and friendliness of the staff. It's always good to see a familiar face of staff that we have know over the years. This year was no different as we had Roman as our server at Los Murales twice. He is always smiling, cheerful and extremely attentive. We also had Juan was our waiter at Los Murales. The food and service was excellent! Juan was very attentive and took good care of us! Great job, Juan and Roman! We hope to see Juan and Roman in 2 years when we return!
Just completed a four night stay at the Holiday Inn vacation club Royal Haciendas in Playa Del Carmen. I will start off by saying that I was incredibly surprisingly delighted by our stay. We chose this hotel because of the positive reviews that we had read, but we’re sceptical because it was a holiday inn vacation club. We have stayed at Hilton, Delta, and Hyatt, all inclusive hotels in the past, and we’re not expecting the level of service too match during this day, and again we were pleasantly surprised.
We checked in with Edin at the front desk, who was very accommodating throughout the stay. Based on our Ihg status, we were able to obtain an upgrade to a beachfront room of the same category.
The room was very nice, although it was relatively basic. The beds did feel hard, and the sheets were not especially soft. Despite that, we appreciated that the room was well-maintained and enjoyable be in. We especially enjoyed the balcony. There were so many activities at the hotel that we did not spend a lot of time in the room.
We were staying on a Ihg rewards night stay which provided the all-inclusive feature. We found both the food and Service to be outstanding both the pool, the specialty restaurants, and the buffet. We especially appreciated the fantastic service of Saul, Luis and Hector. We are vegetarian, and found the hotel to be incredibly accommodating, not only with helping us know what to eat, but also providing accommodation, especially forthings like the Teppanyaki show. We especially enjoyed the Asian restaurant called Kinoko, which we ate at every night. The Teppanyaki show is a must do, and the drinks there are outstanding.
August is a very hot time to visit Playa Del Carmen, and there are a lot of nationals there during that time. Finding chairs at the pool was never a problem and the service was great.
We did not take full advantage of all the activities happening during our stay, but there was always something to do at the hotel.
One of the things that we noted at check-in was, we did have to speak to a “concierge” in order to learn about the hotel. Much to our surprise, they did not push hard for us to attend a presentation, as we had no intention of doing so, and really appreciated that about the hotel.
Besides the beds (hard mattresses and low quality sheets), we only had a couple of other disappointments at the hotel.
The first was that on our fourth day of our stay, somebody came by to fill our mini bar. When we checked in the first day, our mini bar was empty. As is the case with this hotel, you sometimes have to switch rooms on Saturday (our second day) which was the case for us… And when we got to our new room, the mini bar also was not filled. Supposedly, the third day, our do not disturb sign was on, and so they did not let us know that they had come by fill our money bar. So it was not until our very last day when somebody came by to fill it. That was really disappointing and itfelt like it was away. The hotel was trying to save money. While they said that our do not disturb sign was on and they did not want to disturb us, I will tell you that we received multiple phone calls from the bell staff asking when we were moving rooms or going to check out. While I’m sure it was intended to be good service, it did feel irritating.
Overall, this is a high-quality hotel to stay at as an all-inclusive, and we would highly recommend it not only for the overall facilities, the strong service, the food, and the nice accommodations, but also for the overall atmosphere.
No hotel is perfect. This hotel is definitely one to which we would consider returning.
The Resort is beautiful and impeccably maintained, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The activities were fun and we enjoyed the swim up pool! It never felt crowded!! Room service breakfast is by far the best!!
A truly beautiful 5* resort. Beautiful pools, gardens, villas, etc. The hotel personal are great sand helpful BUT the food quality is below average. Rent from an owner and avoid the all inclusive package.
The shows were incredible, the kids' club was so much fun and creative, and we loved Ingrid, Ana, and Geo, with whom we were lucky enough to participate in some of their activities. The mixology was amazing, the service at the buffet was incredible too, the room service was very helpful, and everything was great. We hope to return soon...
