Just returned after an amazing stay at Viva Maya. We had a great time. The rooms were clean, bed super comfy and air con was great. The food was good in the main buffet. We also tried two restaurants- Portafino which was amazing and The Mexican restaurant which was good too. Check in was easy. All of the staff on the report were friendly and helpful. The entertainment team are amazing and run things all day. Theres always something to do. The pool was good and we didn't find it to busy. The beach sand was lovely. The only downside was the Sargassum which is a Mexico wide issue, it's thick and stinks. Turtles laid eggs on the beach which was exciting. There is lots of wildlife around the hotel which was so lovely to see too.
We stayed has a family of 3 for 7 nights. Room was a good size with separate toilet, shower and sinks which was great for getting ready. View in our room wasnt great, we had a superior room which had a view of the works been carried out at the hotel next door. Hotel grounds are beautiful, and well looked after. Pool area nice, always plenty of beds and was clean however the temperature of the pool is hot! You cannot get in expecting to cool down. Sea...we had 5 lucky days with very little sargussum but 2 of a large amount which the hotel couldn't remove quick enough, doesn't stop you from getting in the sea which is lovely and warm. Lots of free water sports to do also. Food.....I would say is average, breakfast okay, plenty of options. Lunch again average in the buffet, snack bar the pool was better, burgers, pizzas, salads etc. Dinner was same most evenings, same meats and salad etc, nothing amazing to eat. We managed to book at the Mexican and Mediterranean restaurants which were both really good. Weather...late 30s all week, red hot and very humid. Overall a good week, staff work hard and hotel is lovely, just lacks on the food.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in the beginning of July as our first couples vacation and we had a great time. Highlights from our trip include:
fun and the staff there was very helpful with adjusting the bikes for us
Let downs:
Overall, we really did enjoy our stay and would recommend this place to someone else but there’s definitely parts that could be improved :)
I have gone to Mexico 16-20 times in the last 20 years! Only reason we went to this hotel as friends were going to this particular resort. This is not one we would have picked.
The drinks - non alcoholic or alcoholic are beyond terrible. They are bottom shelf lowest quality you can imagine and so is the food.
This wasn’t a real all inclusive it was not wonderful to feel like you couldn’t enjoy a good Pepsi or beer or a nice meal on vacation. I am not picky but when you pay over 1500$ for 4 nights per person you expect some basic elements
Rooms have cheap body wash and shampoo but no conditioner. Took us 3 nights to get some shampoo from the hotel
The staff were nice and the grounds were kept well but it’s such a small resort with very little to do unless you participate in the daily activities that are beyond cheaply done and go into the one pool that hundreds go and you smell the pee from a mile away.
Went on a trip with a couple of friends for a week, and the resort had lots of activities to participate in. The staff were super friendly and made our experience great!
The guys that ran the aquatic sports, Josue, Adrian, Pablo, and Ricardo were awesome. They took us out on the catamaran a few times during our trip, they were also very patient and helpful during the windsurfing lessons. The ladies that were running the trapeze lessons were also awesome. Crystal, Mara, and Valentina were super patient and encouraging during the beginner lessons!!
The entertainment team, Valentina, Brandon, Jair, and Will were super fun and did a great job keeping the energy up during the day with the various activities they put on!
