We really enjoyed our stay here for 3 nights and would highly recommend it for staying in Ko Samui. The hotel is gorgeous, the beach is fantastic, staff very friendly, and there's a lot within easy walking distance. We got the Sea View room which matched the photos and was very happy with our view. Breakfast buffet was good and would recommend. And had lunch a few times which was also tasty.
Cocktails are about $10USD but they're constantly running 2-for-1 specials, including all day Sunday. There was some of the annoying towel "reservations" , but was still able to found loungers on the beach and by the pool for us. Beach towels are provided and the pool and beach were so relaxing. They were also able to easily arrange a taxi to do some temple viewing and going to Fisherman Village.
All in all I'd definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Ko Samui. Chaweng Beach is supposed to be one of the best beaches on the island and I would agree, and I thought this hotel was a fantastic value for the money.
The building, rooms (beach wing) and pool are beautiful, the staff is wonderful and friendly, breakfast is good but could be a bit bigger. It could be such a nice place…
However, the hotel is packed with loud and misbehaving Israeli families, who are camping at the pool and being totally ignorant regarding the existence of other guests. If the kids are not screaming like crazy, you hear their parents arguing as if they’d be divorcing any minute. During breakfast, their noise level gives the observer an interesting outlook on what to expect for the rest of the day. At noon the place is already littered with coke cans and food leftovers , such as pizza slices or french fries, smeared all over the sunbeds. Parents don’t bother when their children are playing football at the beach right in the middle of other guests reading or sleeping.
The hotel premises are quite narrow/long and guests (and rooms) are therefore quite packed. Hence, a certain sensitivity towards other guests’ wellbeing should be common sense among hotel guests. Unfortunately, relaxing as a couple is simply not possible here. We’ve already been here two years ago and it got way worse. If it was adult only (16+), it would be perfect.
Stayed here for 5 nights in May, to visit a friend doing a yoga retreat. I’ve stayed on samui many times. Currently I’m working whilst travelling, so I need a desk to put my laptop and 2nd monitor screen. All the rooms have these unusable desk spaces, and no chair to sit on. I spoke to reception to see if I could upgrade to a room with a bigger desk, but all rooms are the same. The only thing that they could assist with, is bringing up a chair.
The rooms are well decorated, but I found the beds so hard and linen not the best quality, so didn’t sleep great. Having just come from another reputable hotel brand to the Mercure, I could clearly see the difference in the quality of bed and linen.
The breakfast is good. The hotel staff are super helpful and attentive. The beach in front of the hotel is lovely, great for swimming and soft white sand. Their lunch and dinner menu is excellent and the food tastes great. You’re far enough away from the craziness of Chaweng Party area, but still within walking distance if you really want that. Also it’s easy enough to get a grab scooter or taxi if you want to go anywhere. There is laundry and massage shops directly across the road.
Overall, I like this hotel, but not when I’m working as well as travelling. It’s just not functional for a wok space
Amazing location and wonderful hospitality
