Enjoying a convenient location close to the town centre, this stunning beach hotel in Phuket offers guests the best of both worlds. Set amidst breath-taking surroundings and facing the Andaman sea, the Impiana Resort Patong Phuket places guests in close proximity to the spectacular sights that Phuket has to offer including an array of spectacular temples and the prominent landmark of Phromthep Cape.Immersed in exotic natural beauty, this elegantly designed hotel offers an intimate haven in which guests can indulge in fine-dining from a host of in-house venues including an award-winning restaurant which serves an array of delectable delights. Guests can also relish rejuvenating treatments in the Spa. For the ultimate relaxation and tranquillity in an enviable location this is the ideal choice.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I’m giving this hotel 2 stars only because of its amazing beachfront location and the breakfast. The hotel is right on Patong Beach, and almost everything is within walking distance, making it a very convenient place to stay.
The breakfast was one of the highlights. There was a good variety of food, including an omelet station, a waffle station, Asian dishes, fruit, pastries, and breakfast was served until 10:30 AM, which was great. Unfortunately, the breakfast staff were not very friendly. We noticed they would keep certain food behind the counter instead of putting it out for guests, and service seemed to change depending on whether you tipped them. They usually only offered tea or regular coffee, while the self-serve juice machine had some of the worst juice I’ve ever tasted—even SunnyD tastes better. If you specifically ask for a latte or cappuccino, they’ll bring one, and they’re actually very good, but not every server understands what you’re asking for.
Now for the hotel itself. It is extremely outdated. The pictures make it look like it has a charming tropical theme, but in reality everything is old and worn out. We even saw rats around the property during our stay.
Housekeeping was one of the biggest disappointments. Towels are supposedly replaced only once per day, but one day housekeeping never replaced ours at all. When we called the front desk, they repeatedly insisted the housekeeper had already changed them because “the housekeeper said she did.” We had to keep explaining that no towels had been replaced before they finally agreed to bring us only one clean towel for two people.
Another issue was the noise every morning. The housekeeping staff and other employees would stand in the hallways talking loudly while cleaning rooms. We were woken up almost every morning because of the noise. It didn’t feel like the staff were considerate of guests who were still trying to sleep.
The bathroom design is also inconvenient. You have to step up and into the bathtub just to take a shower. Both my wife and I slipped and got hurt at least twice because of how awkward and unsafe it is.
The air conditioning worked, but the thermostat didn’t. You could adjust the temperature, but it made no difference. The room was either freezing because the AC never shut off, or it would stop cooling completely and become hot. There was no comfortable middle ground.
The TV and internet were also frustrating. Most of the time, the smart TV apps wouldn’t work because the internet connection kept failing. Even worse, apps like YouTube and Netflix still had previous guests’ accounts logged in. That’s a major privacy issue and should be addressed by hotel management. Those accounts should be signed out after every guest checks out.
Another surprise came at checkout. The room has what they call a minibar, but nobody tells you that only the bottled water is complimentary. The sodas and beers are charged, even though they were never restocked during our stay. It would have been nice if this had been clearly explained at check-in or labeled in the room.
The beach amenities also need attention. The umbrellas provided were broken, and the beach towels were stained, worn out, and had holes in them. Even the room keys feel outdated—you receive actual metal house keys, one for the main entrance and another for the patio door.
The pool also needs major repairs. It looks old, several ladder rails were loose, some tiles were moving, and there were exposed wires around the pool area. When I jokingly asked the front desk if the pool was heated, the employee laughed and said, “It’s heated by the sun.”
The restaurant food outside of breakfast was also disappointing. Most dishes were bland or lacked flavor, and the cocktails tasted more like juice than mixed drinks. Even the virgin drinks tasted like inexpensive frozen slushes.
Overall, this hotel has an unbeatable location and a decent breakfast, but everything else feels neglected. The property is badly in need of a complete renovation, customer service needs significant improvement, and management should pay much more attention to the guest experience. For the price, I expected much more, and unfortunately I would not stay here again.
We have been coming to this hotel for more than 35 years. It is in the best location right on the beach and within easy walking distance to everything. I must also complement the staff who were all exceptionally friendly and helpful during our stay. A particular mention to Miss Bow the reservation manager. We booked our stay through a third party and they let us down terribly with the booking which was actually made for the incorrect dates. Miss Bow went out of her way to assist and rectified the issues at no cost to us. We are most grateful for that wonderful service. While all of the rooms are good size this time we stayed in the Impiana Suite which I can highly recommend. Lots of extra space plus your own day bed. Thanks again we will be back in the near future to once again enjoy your fantastic hospitality
Once again, we stayed at our favourite hotel in Patong. It was great to see the long-term familiar staff who as always can't do enough for you. Unfortunately, the manager (Gerard) had moved on, but we met the new manager (Hafez) and were very impressed with him. He was so welcoming and always friendly and approachable. I did read in another post about the condition of the lounges around the pool and while I think some posts are very petty, I do agree that new lounges should be introduced. The old ones are really past their use by date. I know the decor is a little dated but its Thailand so it's perfect. The cleaning girls do a great job, the beds comfortable so what more can you want. At the end of the day staying at the Impiana has a lot to do with the location. You just can't beat it. I did think the breakfast choices had increased and like always the egg man is so obliging and friendly. Can't wait to return next year. Thanks to all the staff there, keep up the great work.
Impiana Resort Patong so impressed me that I am already planning next year’s trip; the resort was incredible; the staff were awesome and the location to the beach: pricesless. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at and I travel every year. Thank you Impiana Resort Patong, Phuket.
